OK here's the scenario...the final monthly in the 2007 Points Chase is coming up and there's still a bit of drama to unfold.
Top three in Pro is decided with trophies going to Champ Rore, Runner-up Root and 3rd place Moncropoli. There is a tie for the final spot in the Pro skins challenge. Beetle needs a 7th place finsh or better to gain points and Scuba Steve needs a 5th place or better. Whoa!
Top three in Amateur are currently Ash-149, Fig-143, Gabe-135. If Gabe finished 5th or better (I think) he is the champ. If he does not show, he retains 3rd place. Fig cannot catch Ash so a lot is riding on Gabe's Friday night activities. Russ is guaranteed the final spot in the Am skins challenge.
The skins challenge dates have not been set yet but the format will be match play with a dollar amount for each hole. Pros will be playing for at least $100 and Ams will be playing for $80 in merchandise. Thanks to the NHDGC for their contribution and congrats to all those that competed in the point chase and made it a great thing. Their will be a points chase in 2008.

thanks monny... great breakdown. Now if only Gabe forgets.
I just re-did the math and looks like Gabe needs a 3rd place to reach 153 pts and guarantee first. 152 is the most you can get Ash (with a win), so its no gimme for him. Shoot em up.

And you're sure there is no way I can catch Ashley?
sorry Fig...your lowest included month is 16 pts in march. If you won you would only gain 4 pts which is 2 less than Asley's total of 149 and he can't lose pts.

So what happened?
7 Pros:
Darrin 63-57=120 $27
Monty 60-63=123 $17
Rudy 64-63=127 $12
looks like Beetle nudges out Scuba for the 4th skins spot by 1pt
5 Ams:
Gabe 68-61=129 $22
Scooter 74-64=138 $13
Gabe wins pts chase, Ash 2nd, Fig 3rd, Russ gets 4th skins spot.
Rore I'll present your trophy at the skins, congrats!

Dec 14 2007, 08:47 AM
Will you describe for clarity Monny.
i'm coming out to watch on sunday morning. i'm either going to donate some money to the am skins or put a cash bounty on a hole. haven't decided which.
bgwvdave
Dec 14 2007, 10:03 AM
right on DP that is great!!
jmonny
Dec 14 2007, 10:19 AM
I like the bounty DP, just so we don't deplete the disc stock all in one day.
Here's a scenario:
holes 1-6 worth $3 each
holes 7-12 worth $4 each
holes 13-17 woth $6
hole 18 worth $8
Total = $80
In skins play ONE player has to win the hole outright to take the skin, regardless of score. If two tie then all tie and the skin is carried over to the next hole and so on. Total score does not matter.
In match play you can win a match before the 18th hole but of course we will play every hole.
In strict ball golf match play you can concede or give your opponent his putt but I don't know if this is done in disc golf....Dave? How about the Va Invitational.
bgwvdave
Dec 14 2007, 11:03 AM
At the VTI I believe Biscoe does allow a player in a group to concede a hole or a putt but i am not sure of the criteria that applies. i do not think a putt or a hole was conceded in any of my matches. i would say it is a group decision and what ever you guys decide i am down with
26408
Dec 14 2007, 01:01 PM
That did'nt really clarify it Monny. As a matter of fact I'm even more confused.
ashley
Dec 14 2007, 03:54 PM
hahahaha yeah me to... thats why were am's.
so... if we concede a hole to someone, they take the money from that hole... but as in stroke play if 2 or more tie, it pushes t othe next hole right?
hmmmm
this will be fun
bgwvdave
Dec 14 2007, 04:15 PM
so... if we concede a hole to someone, they take the money from that hole...
there are 4 people playing in this skin's match. any one person can concede a hole at anytime. if 1 person concedes there are still 3 people to finish the hole. lets say you guys walk on to hole 3 and 3 people pure the fairway and are within 70 feet of the basket. then the last person to drive smacks the first tree on the right and kicks into the woods. then his out hits a tree and does not make it on the fairway. now your laying 2 and you still can't see the basket. well instead of making the gallary and your card watch you keep strugglin you can concede the hole with a good chance that at least 2 people are going to tie on the hole to push and bam you are right back in the game on hole 4. wow that was longwinded
ashley
Dec 14 2007, 04:21 PM
wow, longwinded but i understand now... that sounds great to me... so in other words, we get t o8 i hit a tree, at corner, then roll into woods, and hit another tree, looking at 4th shot before making the turn for hom.. i concede, step back and follow hopinbg at least 2 people tie it and i rest up for the next hole waiting on them to save me.
sweet.
I WILL BRING LOOPS FOR BAGTAGS ON SUNDAY for anyone needing them.... which is everyone.
bgwvdave
Dec 14 2007, 05:10 PM
depends what the other 3 did if they kicked deeper in the woods then you did keep battling and may win some merch :Dbut yeah sounds like you got the gist.

jmonny
Dec 17 2007, 11:37 AM
You're right Fig but this isn't the place to bring it up. Sometimes you have to be a wipe and make a bold announcement to snap childish people out of their poor behavior. I know you shouldn't have to but don't let it build up over 12 holes either. Speak up early as unfortunately some of us need a slap whenever we're around other people in that kind of setting.

jmonny
Dec 23 2007, 03:37 PM
Highlights:
Hole 1- I make about a 30 footer, Rore makes his from 20 to push.
Hole 4- Rore makes a 20 ftr for 3, I miss a 15 ftr to push. Rore takes first 4 skins for $16.
Hole 11- Rudy makes a great approach shot from short and left fairway then makes a 30 ftr from woods for a 3. I push with a 10ft putt.
Hole 12- Rore take $47 with 4. Beetle missed a 15 ftr to push.
Hole 17- Rore takes $40 with a 3.
Hole 18- Beetle deuces with a fairway ace about 150ft. Can't wait to see the vid. Totals: Rore $103 Beetle $8.
I played good till about #12. You can't give that Rore kid an opening or he'll take it. He earned it and I appreciate the extra cash he and Beetle added.

Dec 23 2007, 03:39 PM
There was $111.00 up for grabs.
Rory $103
Beetle $8 with a throw in on the last hole!
Mony and Rudy with $0
Everyone played well, it just worked out in my favor. Rudy hit a huge put on 11 to force a rollover and I took 47 bucks on the next hole. I only won 3 holes. 4, 12, 17. Beetle took 18.

monthly was awesome. beautiful day and good turn out. too bad i suck at disc golf. did get home just in time to see the lead group of the players cup tee off of hole 2. Rory was ahead going into the second round with a smokin 51. christian was second with a 55 i shot a 57 and narehood 58. that was the lead card. we (dg, narehood, christian) where all tied for second by hole 3. then narehood and christian park hole 4 i take a 4 becasue i can't putt. then narehood birdies 5 christian takes a 4 i 3. all par 6 christian birdies 7 and 9. after i 4d 9 i was pretty much over it. not sure how the battle for second ended up. Maybe monty will post scores a little later

I enjoyed that setup John, Nice work. It was a nice change of pace. The front was a shootout (shot a 20)...the back really played about the same. I'd like to see some shorter holes on the back with those pads...
I threw a sidewinder back hand on 15. Got it to do the late turnover. It looked like an ace run from back there and was 20 feet back and left. It'll be one of my most memorable shots, just looked nice. Good times.
Oh, is there a points standings list?
jmonny
May 11 2008, 10:03 AM
Chi & BWD are working on the site which I'm sure will have the current point standings.
I agree, the back nine needs more variety. The next alt mat should go on the back & I think its time for another alt basket or two.

Cheech_Man
May 12 2008, 09:52 AM
Absolutely. I think Dave's plan is for me and Chad to revamp it with existing content and ideas from Boz and Russ.
Once we can get a copy of the course map (course_map.htm) we should be able to start fixing/replacing the broken links.
Just keep in mind that greater things are in the works. I have some pretty good ideas for something like charlottedgc. I have some great open source templates in ASP that are really cool and look very professional.
Also, I have all the pics you took. As soon as I can get up with Chad we'll post them.

OK I finally talked to Drew and he is cool with us bringing portable baskets out to IG and playing. I told him we may hold our monthly there this Saturday but I wanted to DISCuss it here first and have some options.
Option 1 - set up course in the morning and play both rounds at IG.
Option 2 - morning rnd at CHP then haul baskets over to IG for an the final round. If we do this we'll know exactly what we got and there'll be no confusion.
So...let's get a count on how many will be there and can bring baskets. I have two and maybe can borrow one. I'd luv to have 18 to keep it smooth.
we will be paying the $4 each green fee. Spread the word to those who don't post. we can always do it next month or any time we want to get it together.

Jun 09 2008, 01:33 PM
i have 2 baskets. i will be there (for at least a little while :D) depending on how busy inland greens will be one idea would be to do tee times starting on 1 and 10 so that we can work in with the ball golfers. it may be awkward to do a shotgun start with ball golfers already out there.
ashley
Jun 09 2008, 03:34 PM
I got one I can break down and fit in the celica...and am open to this saturday or the next month so we can spread the word if needed.... either way.
I am for either scenario... early am at Castle, B$ the crowds....since there is a family reunion at the gazebo on 15 this Sat. and afternoon at IG and just give way to the ball golfers so we dont [censored] them off.

June monthly will be 2 rounds at CasTTle. I have another mat and would like to play the 3 alt holes again. we could shorten #12 this time too...discuss.....

Great shooting this weekend Sjur! 52/56 to win by a landslide. I think there were 11 Pros and 3 Am's. We played short tee's on 4 & 8 and short pins 1st round. Longs second round besides hole 1, mower dent in the sleeve wouldn't allow pin to be changed. The following are the cashers. Scores are a little fuzzy but I think this is correct:
Christian 60/58
DP 61/59
Rudy 59/63
D-cun 60/62, I also won the bag o bucks.
Chi wins Ams with some good scores, 61/68??? Good shooting Chi!

Come join us for one more shot at playing what was one of the premiere Disc Golf Courses East of I-95.
Saturday July 12th
2 rounds at Inland Greens Golf Course
Tee off at 10:00 a.m.
Regular entry fee + $4.00 green fee so
Pro - $14
Am - $12
Rec - $9
these are the total costs with greens fees included. we will have at least 9 Metal baskets (probably more) and the rest will be skill shots and other brands of soft baskets. if anyone has a metal basket they can bring it would greatly appreciated the less cloth baskets we have to use the better
For those of you that never got to play Inland Greens when it was in the ground it was and will be a BEAUTIFUL disc golf course layed out over a Par 3 ball golf course. if you have any questions fill free to post here

Like a Sidewinder/Leopard in my opinion. It holds a line like a midrange. If you put it on a big turnover line, it will hold it all the way, or throw a pop up hyzer and it will hold a long suttle turnover with just a little fade. It is the driver version of my Aero and Coyote. An instant starter in my 10 disc bag!

WoW, that............was fun! It was great to play that course again. Made me realize (yet again) how much I miss that course.
Cutt, thanks for bringing the baskets. It was nice to fill out the whole course with metal ones. Iluminatti, Maxx thanks for bringing yours as well. And of course all the club members who brought theirs and for all that helped tote'em. Thanks to all of the out of towners for coming. Monny, thanks for hosting!
Can't remember scores exactly but there were 13 Pro's & 6 Ams:
Cutt won with a 101-49/52
Rore/Mike Norris
GabeStone
seems like Max was in here somewhere to???
Scuba/Mike Gordon
D-cun won the bag o bucks $18
We've got to figure out how we can get baskets back on this course!

That was fun...It seemed like we all needed to relearn how to play it. I dont see why we couldnt do a PDGA with the same temp basket setup. It could raise the awareness of the course and show Drew that there are more than 20 disc golfers. We know we can get the baskets. It could potentially be somewhat of a fund raiser. Weve talked about it in the past, and obviously planning and pulling it off isnt as easy as it sounds, but now it actually seems doable.

Good idea...LOTS of planning. Providing a sanctioned event out there would eat a lot of fund raising potential as well. I'd like to start a little smaller scale with this idea: Anyone who doesn't have a metal basket...get one! So we can set up a real course at IG on short notice & not rely on CuTT for half the baskets.

Just a couple changes so far Chad....
1. You have the name Narhood as T17 in the points race, that IS Scuba Steve, they are one in the same. My fault for not listing him as Scuba for the May monthly...that will tighten things up a bit too.
2. The monthly ace pool is $35 now.
I'll look over the scores and payouts closer when I have time but the site looks great. Thanks again for the updates.

Speaking of monthlies I am going to need someone to step up and run the August monthly as DG & I will be at Worlds. Main thing is that I get the merch/cashbox/board...etc. to someone who will be there for sure, then you can team up on duties or whatever.

Hey Chad,
The site looks great.I did notice that the points for the August monthly were tallied incorrectly.Rory and Rudy tied for first and Rory won the playoff.Per the rules ties will receive the same points except ties for first place. Therefore Rory should get 20 and Rudy 19 points.Sorry Root.
