Why is there such a little discount (if any) for a lifetime membership. Considering an AM cost of $50 per year, paying an additional $2000 buys 40 years. Come on! Do you really think the 16-30 year old majority members are thinking out 40 years?! Much less be able to fork out $2000. Even if they were, I'd say it's highly unlikely the PDGA will exist then as it does now, and who is to say the membership will mean anything after such a long length of time? Sure, I'm negating inflation, but that's not the only benefit of buying a lifetime membership.
I think the cost of 20-25 years worth of fees ($1000-$1250) would be much more reasonable, and something much more people would actually consider. I'll send my check when you make the fees much more attractive.
Has anyone else ever considered and been turned off by this less than attractive fee?

I think the better comparison is for Ace club dues at $100 + $50 or $75 were $2000 only covers about 14 or 12 years respectively.

Yeah, I agree. Probably most of the people who think about an Eagle Club membership are people who would pay, anyway, for an Ace or Birdie Club membership.
I was about to get my wife persuaded to let me go Eagle this year, but then her company (Pfizer) ended up pulling out of Ann Arbor, so I may not even be able to do Ace Club this year until our finances shake out after she finds a new job.
At the Ace Club calculation, I maybe will yet live long enough to make the dollars alone make sense.
Don't forget dues inflation! I bet Am membership is *not* merely $50 in 2012.

very good point.
I was thinking the same thing about renewing this year and wanted to possibly renew for the next 3 years at the current rate and she said that it was probably smarter to not do that b/c she felt that the dues would go down in a few years.

i'm hoping that by 2012 the lowest priced annual pdga membership will be no more than half of that $50.

Me too!! :)
With increased memberships it seems we could lower the fees! Hint hint hint...look forward to seeing your renewals roll in!
I'm working on a slew of discounts for y'all and will have them posted online soon! New website coming too!
(I haven't read the forums in MONTHS so please email me if you have any questions/concerns)
Thanks and Happy New Year!

So, PDGA dues will cost in 2012 about what a gallon of gasoline will cost. Interesting. :D

One cannot speculate the future. US could collapse just as easily as the Roman Empire did. Anyway, I'll become a lifetime member when the fees drop to under $1000 and make for an appealing case.

I have considered lifetime multriple times. But the 2K is way to high. Heck 500-750 would be around the going rate for the turn over the PDGA gets now.
