I've got this Roc at home with an awesome stamp that I'm trying to get a little background info on...thought maybe you Austin folks might be able to help out.

Its a Rancho Roc (blue w/ yellow stamp) with a hand-drawn stamp design that shows the Capitol building with a basket on top instead of Lady Liberty. The design was signed "NUNN". Here's a link to a somewhat low quality picture I took of it: TX Capitol Roc (http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q297/RustyPappas/AustinRoc.jpg)

Anyone happen to know who the artist was? Or when this stamp was produced...if it was for a specific event? Any info along those lines would be greatly appreciated (especially if you know where I can get some more Rocs with that stamp :D)

Thanks,
Rusty Pappas

It was the tournament stamp for Capital of Texas Open (COTO), held each year at Pease Park in Austin.

However, I'll have to defer to others on the artist and year (or years) that the stamp was used. It was during the 7 years that David Moody ran the tournament, so sometime in the late 90s or early 00s.

Thaks for the info Gordon...do you think Moody might know anything else about it? If so I'll shoot him an email...

Thanks,

I have a predator with the same stamp. I think it was from the 2001 COTO.

Sure you do: just overshoot the basket a little and when you turn around to make the putt, voila! there is the Capitol :D

is that stamp an actual view from one of the old tees? Whoever had the disc before me wrote "Hole 16 Peace Park" (misspelled) on the back...I just assumed it was an ace disc.

That was the view from the tee box...and that would have been one fantastic ace :o

No, that was the view from the fee box on hole #16 (when Pease was a 21 hole course), then it was #13 when we went back to an 18 hole course. Now it is the view when putting out at #13.

More info than you ever wanted to know, huh? ;)

No way, thats exactly the kind of stuff I was hoping to find out...its those kind of little details that make the disc even more interesting to me.

This was actually the first Roc I ever bought...just for the stamp really. I threw it for a round, decided I didnt like, then stuck it in the closet. I randomly pulled it out again a year or so later and gave it another shot...loved it that time (guess I finally figure out how to throw it well). I loved the stamp even more than the way it flew, so it ended up as a wall hanger. Been hooked on Rocs ever since... :D

If they wrote "Peace" on the disc, they were either an aging hippie or a Round Rocker.

Chris, if you go down to the capitol grounds, you can get a nice view of the capitol. Just bring a picnic basket/cooler and gawk at the marvelous building while eating your sandwich and drinking your Bud. Take a picture and tape it to your cart and the windshield of the spinning truck. One can't get enough of "looking at the capitol."

Rumor has it that a certain "Hitman" will be attending the Pease mini tomorrow. He requests that you bring your game and a satchel full of attitude.

Rusty,
David Moody probably ran that custom stamp four times over the years. Twice on the Capital of Texas Open tournament stamp and twice more for merch to sell from the trailer at Pease.

Scott Carter may be the artist that drew the artwork for this stamp. Scott has drawn many of Dave moody's tournament artworks.

Anyone who can put up with that guy is definitely a hero and quite possibly eligible for sainthood.

Including reading y'alls posts.:DOlse sent my Ebay account an email. He obviously wasn't happy....until i replied and let him know it was me. Of course i offered to remove it immediately but Mike insisted that i keep it up. I think deep down inside he wants to know how much he is worth. :DIt was never about money, just a simple offering of a RARE mini with a story to the mini collectors out there. A lot of users are watching the auction......is that all of you guys? Miss you all and hope to see you sooooooooon!
