I am in the process of setting up a small non-sanctioned skills competition on Feb. 10th at Missouri City's Community Park.
All cash payout (100%). This will be a very laid back event with minimal entry fee ($5) and those that wish to do so can go practice Quail Valley for Texas States afterwards. The format will utilize 6 baskets and will accomodate about 40 to 50 players. Let me know if you would be interested in attending such an event (probably run from about 1pm till 4pm) This will be a quick event to get some practice on those shots we may not always use, but are great when they work. Sign up via e-mail to [email protected]
Skills Competition Rules:
1) All players are allowed to throw any PDGA approved disc
2) Players will take one shot from each of 30 stations
3) Players must make shot as described on station rule (found on scorecard)
4) All shots that make it in the basket on the first throw are worth 100pts
5) If the disc comes to rest inside the 30ft circle the points awarded are equal to 50pts minus the distance from the basket in ft (rounded down) (x=50-distance)
a. There will be a labeled string on each basket for ascertaining distance
b. Rollers (only on holes that require them) that come to rest touching the pole of the basket count as a made shot (100 pts)
6) If the disc comes to rest outside the 30ft circle, the competitor has the opportunity to make the putt from that location for 10pts (if this putt is missed the score is zero for that station)
7) Two additional events are held for points distance and putting
a. Distance points are given according to the following formula
i. Three throws are taken for distance (two throws are counted)
ii. If a throw goes out of bounds it cannot be counted
iii. The total distance of the two throws (this includes rolling, skipping, etc.) is then added and divided by 4 for total points awarded.
b. Putting competition is a total of 10 putts from the 30 ft circle
i. All 10 putts are counted
ii. Each made putt is worth 20 pts
* This makes for a total possible score of 3200 points plus distance points which for most will be in the 100-200 point range (so I'd say out of a total possible 3400, of which 1500 would be a great score.)
8) At the end of the competition the winners will be determined in each of 3 divisions:
a. Beginner (Suggested PDGA Rating < 850)
b. Advanced (PDGA Rating 850 > 915)
c. Open (PDGA Rating > 915)
