Played the mini today in Vegas. The Sunset course, cool course. This was a very long course the guys that shot under had 700' rollers that were just sick. I shot 2 over. Some one tell Pete to bring his roller and Anhyzer shot for the Gentlemens tourney at the end of the month.
Crystal Hills Park basic info:
*Approx. 40 acres
*Most if not all in a flood plain
Will keep you posted....

I looked at the topo map tonight through GOOGLE Earth. I was able to find the area of the land that has been donated to be the park. It could be a promising area, but I am not sure that I would go for a full 18 baskets there. Maybe 9 and in a well lit traveled area.
I will be there.
The meeting should be about 2 hours in my guesstimations..

WE NEED EVERYONE'S HELP ON THIS
Below you'll find a link to the materials presented at the meeting. You'll also find a survey. The survey is used to gauge public interest in what facilities are needed at the park. We need every disc golfer to find out the survey and email it to Scott Stover by March 21, 2008. The results of the survey are the major factor in determining which facilities are included in the park. I'll have hard copies at both the McClain and UC Minis this weekend too. If you don't have access to email simply fill it out and give it to me. I'll send it in for you. We need to overwhelm the city to show that we want more disc golf courses. This course is likely several years away because the park has no funding available today, but getting a disc golf course in the master plan in important to securing funding for the future.

City sidewalks, busy sidewalks
Dressed in holiday style
In the air there's a feeling of Christmas
Children laughing, people passing
Meeting smile after smile
And around every tree and bush you'll hear
cha-cha-ching, cha-cha-ching
It's Christmas time in the city
cha-cha-ching, hear them ching
Soon it will be Christmas day

Last October I was approached by a fellow board member about his interest in discgolf at McAllister Park. In February, we talked again and he said the Friends of McAllister Park (quasi-board) would like to hear more information and asked that I attend their next meeting.
I asked Paul if he would be interested in meeting with the group and after the Voelcker meeting last week, we set up a time to meet at the park for a walk through of the site. Last night Paul made a great presentation to the Friends board. There were a lot a good questions and encouraging feedback.
In the next few months, we are going to continue the communications with the board and get them out to the park for a temporary layout. After this, we will meet with city officials and with their blessing, it will go before the Parks Board.
Once we meet with the city officials, it will be determined where the funding will come from i.e., existing bond money and/or possibly matching funds from the Friends of McAllister or even the SA Parks Foundation.
So far as to the design/layout, there will be a fair to great chance that it will be done by DISCGOLFERS! I believe once 18 is laid out we could show that another 18 would fit nicely as well.
There is approximately 1000 acres throughout the entire park. The area for the course(s) would be from the main drive (coming off Starcrest) up to the dam and west of the new soccer fields. There is a nice seasonal (mostly dry) creek bed with lots of mature oaks.
I will keep you posted from the city's side as we progress.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Thats awesome. Ive always thought that McAllister would be an amazing place for a course or two. That park has a great centralized location for the city and would do well to get the word out on the sport even further due to how many people visit that park with all of the baseball and soccer leagues etc that go on there. Great work

I attended the meeting between the city of San Antonio Parks and Recreation and the City of Leon Valley this evening. What a meeting, cordial, small town atmosphere where you felt welcome.
I walked into the meeting room and BANG, up on the wall are three possible master plans. All of the master plans are still a work in progress, but BANG. Outlined in yellow on all three plans was at least 10 acres set aside for a DISC GOLF course. Only one negative remark was made about disc golf and when I spoke to the problem that the guy had, he was very welcoming of the idea of what disc golf brought to the park. His concern was that in the last plan, the disc golf course had its own entrance and there was not a trail from that entrance to the rest of the park. I quickly pointed out that we would be there to co-exist with the park and not take over the park. Jamaal Moreno was very receptive to the idea also. I talked with Jamaal after the meeting and he was thinkg about making disc golf part of phase 1 in the construction of the park. I told him to wait for phase 2 and for him to get the trails and other amenities built in the park and have the park ready to use as soon as possible. In phase 2 we could design the course around the existing trails that were put into place in phase 1. This would allow all to have a safer place to be.
Jamaal seems to be very receptive to the idea of disc golf and could be a strong voice for us in the future.
I will let you know more as the next meetings are held.
Thanks for stepping up Coach!

Course is in but not open to public yet. Pete has the course record at -3 if you count every hole as a Par 3. The first disc has also been losted at hole number 6 a yellow day glow Surge with a 2006 World Stamp /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif  :D

Wouldn't the course record need to be set at a mini or tourney and not at casual play?
Either way I plan to best that today :D. Cant' wait to play it, it looks cool.

Update from Selma:
The city of <st1:city w:st="on">Selma</st1:city> has proposed a bond issue for a 12 +- acre park and a full restoration of the <st1>Harrison</st1> house built in 1852. The planas of nowdoes not include a Disc Golf course (there is enough room, because both parks (the other being the stage coach stop) will be joined if the bond passes). The vote is the first step.
So, if you live in Selma, or know anyone who does<st1><st1:city w:st="on"></st1:city></st1>we need a yes vote on November 3rd for the park! If it passes, we will get to work to convince the parks department to put in a course.<o></o><o></o>
