Has the BSA agreed to a DG merit badge?
Does anyone have any further details about how to get the guidelines to qualify?
Have the qualifications to earn the badge been written / approved?

The Flying Disc Sports merit badge has not yet been submitted to the Boy Scouts.

The proposal will include a draft of requirements, but that's just to get discussion started.

It will take at least a year, likely more, before there will be an actual merit badge to earn.

However, Cub Scouts and Webelos can now earn the "Ultimate" belt loop and pin by playing disc golf. These requirements are tough enough to give Boy Scouts a challenge, too. See Scouting.org.

The proposal to create a Disc Sports merit badge has been sent to Boy Scout headquarters. The proposal is for a badge that covers many flying disc sports, with an emphasis on disc golf or Ultimate.

The Boy Scouts have posted an official disc golf training module on their national site Boy Scout disc golf training module (http://scouting.org/BoyScouts/TrainingModules/DiscGolf.aspx)

I encourage you to go download the PDF and PPT files you'll find there. The more interest in this module, the stronger the case for a Disc Sports merit badge.

With this news it's a shame the course at Garland Scout Ranch that Houck designed was pulled out last year. I really liked the course.

I've received news that the BSA will consider the Disc Sports merit badge in May.

In the meantime, do download the training module and volunteer to train some adult scouters.
