I am going to be going into Louisiana July 25 - August 1st and am wanting to play a few courses along the way. I am coming from Arkansas going down to New Orleans. Can anyway point me towards some of the nicer courses that I will be passing?

Coming from Arkansas, I am going to assume you'll be through Shreveport to catch I-49 to get down to New Orleans, and I'll work on that assumption for course suggestions.
Shreveport.
We have 2 18 hole courses and a 9 hole. I would definitely suggest playing Ford Park while in town. It is nicely manicured, long and fairly open. It is a lot of fun and a memorable course. If you're feeling playing 2 courses in Shreveport then Clyde Fant is also worth playing. It's shorter and pretty open.
The next city you'll hit with courses in Lafayette. They have two courses at Acadiana Park. They're both pretty short but very technical. They're a lot of fun, worth a stop.
There are also courses in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, but I am unfamiliar with those, so hopefully one of those guys will chime in on here for you. (Except that highland road is a favorite in Baton Rouge and I belive it is going to be pulled/redesigned soon).
If you're up for getting a little off track, are up for a challenge, and want to play the best course in the state. then the course at Lake Bisteneau State Park is awesome.

Coming from Alma, I don't know if you'll pass through Shreveport or not...but if you do, you should definitely check out Lake Bistineau State Park. Beauty of a course...

Ive heard good things about some of the courses in Shreveport and I have played one of the courses in baton rouge and it was pretty nice. I would deffinitely recommend hitting up baton rouge on your way to N.O.

Ford Park, and Clyde Park are both good Shreveport courses. I've also heard great things about Lake Bistineau though i have not seen it yet.
Highland Park in Baton Rouge is a must if you are rolling East down I-10.

Well,
Due to a tight schedule, hot weather, and mainly a wife and two kids : , I was only able to playu one course in LA. I took ya'lls word and played the one at Lake Bistineau, and while I can not compare it to your other courses, I can say it was a GREAT course. Of course for a boy from Northern Arkansas to throw between hanging-moss covered trees was just COOL! And I felt I played pretty good when it was all said and done, scoring a 58 (I am an 850 rated player). My only problem was the 850ft hole (7 I think), I had no idea where it went, so I just threw out across the field to the right, and of course the hole is to the left. :( I made two incorrect drives before I realized my mistake and turned back to the white poles and the gap. I still took a 5, which is good for my short arm (<300ft), but I may have been able to make a 4 if aimed right.
Anyway, thanks for all the info and the suggestions. I do plan on coming through again soon, as we loved the Gulf waters, and when I do I will hit some others.

Glad to hear your liked Bistineau! I need to get out there myself again soon...Louisiana States is being held there this year, middle of October I believe. Taking a 5 on #7 after 2 shots in the wrong direction is still a really good score (I usually take a 5 knowing exactly where the basket is ;) )

agreed! Bisteneau is a great course and well worth the slight detour from the highway to go play. I wish I could play it more :)
