It's that time of year again, Glide time...
This year due to the old course being replaced, we are moving to a temporary course on the west side. This will basically be the same course Joe set up for a Twisted event there a couple of years ago. The trees have grown and trust me this is going to be a nice challenge.
The location is the first turn south on the west side of the 23rd street bridge. There is a skate board park there with a lot of parking.
I hope to see you there. I will be posting more info on Friday doubles etc as we get closer.
You can sign up online soon at twistedflyer.com or catch me a mini sometime.

I doubt as all baskets will have to brought in for the event. You never know though, Mike may have a pre-run through at one of the minis.

Update: The course has been laid out and placed on a map. We will mark the tee pads and baskets this evening with spray paint.
I am trying to get a pdf of the map so you can download it.
After this evening you should be able to follow the course.
There will be no chance to play it until Friday as getting 18 baskets out there is a chore enough for the weekend, much less to bring in and out during the week.
Things are looking great for the tournament, great players pack, a little surprise for the Pro's who are often left out, weather is looking perfect as well..
I hope to have the course playable as early Friday as I can. A lot if that is dependent on others work schedules.
I can promise time to take a run through. Of course we will have doubles Friday, more info to come.
Joe has the pre-reg up on Twisted Flyer so get that done..
This is going to be a fun one, and close to home!!!!!

From ABC march 2007
Wise Words - Episode 3
Up the duff and silly duffer
This probably derives from the duff (a type of British pudding), the forerunner in fact of the Christmas pud . The expression up the duff meaning pregnant is an obvious metaphor that also has given rise to buns in ovens and the pudden club. (Street vendors in London who sold these kinds of puddings were known as plum duffers ).
This duff is actually the same word as dough duff and dough were just alternative pronunciations. In this case the difference came to be reflected in the spelling. (There is also duffer stupid person but there is probably no time to talk about that).
Dough Duff or is it Duff Dough, I guess it doesn't really matter. I do like the other refferences about him. :D

Ok, were making progress now.
A map of the course is available at www.tulsadiscsports.org (http://www.tulsadiscsports.org)
Steve Ward placed a jpg and pdf link which is really cool.
The only possible change is hole 2. Currently there are 6 flatbed semi trailers used for the fireworks show, parked where I want the hole.
Never fear, I do have a work around but the existing map shows the original intent.
I will have baskets out Friday early afternoon.
I want to thank Joyle Deering and everyone who loaned us a basket.
Friday doubles will start around 3:00. Either bring your own partner or show up and find one. Those are some of the funnest teams anyway..
Now for the schedule stuff. PLEASE sign up Friday night.
I am going to be there until dark. If you can't make it but know your going to play, call me at 639-3959. That way I can make your score card and all of that stuff that takes time.
Sign-ups end at 8:30 Saturday morning.
Players meeting at 9:00 and you will tee shortly thereafter.
There will be two rounds Saturday and 1 round Sunday with a Final 9. The Final 9 will be the top 4 in each division.
It is going to be hot and this way we can get in plenty of Disc Golf and I will get you all out of there with a little weekend to spare!!!
I really hope to see you there. The players pack is great and I even have a little something special for the Pro's, who seem to always get left out..
Call or PM me with any questions.
See you Friday....

Nice map and layout Mr Treat. Looks very similar to what Joe did with the dreaded hole 8 over the big patch of "lose it forever" tall grass.
That's probably the best layout for the space you have there. I think last time there were only a few holes that had blind shots where you had to worry about hitting a jogger. ;)
The view on # 3 tee under the bridge was cool with the tunnel vision.
What is the latest tee time for the doubles? 6pm?

Scores are up..
Great day, but really really hot this afternoon. The folks playing this one can say their tough Disc Golfers for sure.
The course is playing really well. We didn't have any real back ups.
Tee time is 9:30 in the morning, which means that is when the 2 minute warning will blow. You all know I am somewhat fixated on starting on time.
Corey Leemhus had his disc ran over be a bike rider. totally on purpose. I understand words were exchanged over the incident. About that time here came the rest of the card, the posse I am calling them, and all of a sudden the bike rider decided it was time to head off.
You gotta love a bunch of Disc Golfers sticking together
See everyone in the morning. That land drains slow so an extra pair of dry socks might be a good idea. It rained pretty hard on the west side..
Anyone not playing should come out and watch. There is a final 9 after lunch, probably 1:30. The course lends itself to specators...
Thanks to everyone who is helping out. I couldn't even come close to doing this without YOU!!!!

What a great tournament. Hats off to the Treats for a class act tourny. Thanks to all of the volunteers for their time. Nice win Coda. We are lucky to have a world class player in our backyard!

WOW!!!!!!!!!!! Coda does it again. He shot a 40 first round and the next best was a 48. He now has a 11 stroke lead on second. That first round could possibly be 1060+. It is nice having he World ranked #16 in your backyard.

We got you the 1st time...Enough with the man crush :D
It's been pretty hard to get 3 1000+ rounds at a Riverside tourney in the past, congrats! The ratings can be pretty bias at shorter courses. The old Riverside you had to shoot 40 or better to get a 1010+
TnT Rock! The scores were posted so quick! A+ TD's
Great Job Penny! Looks like you keep getting better every month.
What was going on in the city, not hardly any OKC players?

Whats up Kevin. I looks like we have a good shot of cleaning up Copperhead and gaining additional access starting this fall. Ricki and I have a great relationship. How is the family?

AWESOME news about the Y!!!!! Ricki is pretty cool.
Good playing this weekend, looked like you had a super up hill battle after that 40. Had to bust your balls a little ;)
The family is good, quite time consuming between the coffee shop and Ryne...we barely get anytime to mix in any disc golf these days. We do get to head up to Massachusetts in a few weeks for Maple Hill (used to be Marshall St)

Thanks for all the kind words. We had a great time.
I want to give my sincere thanks to all the volunteers and players. Everyone was just great.
This tournament was a real learning experience for me. I had to make a few TD type decisions that I hadn't encountered before. But thanks to some great advice everything was very smooth.
I really appreciated everyone's compliments on the course. Andrew and I spent a lot of time tweeking the original lay out.
The weather was a lot better today. Yesterday was a rough round on everyone.
There was some great disc golf played this weekend. The level of play here is outstanding. We can thank our predecessors for setting a high bar "Kevin" :).
Wayne Forest ran a great ring of fire. Thanks to a lot of folks we had some great prizes.
Sponsors were TDSA, Twisted Flyer, Joel Woody, Wayne Forest, the Bartons, Jim and Debbie Taylor and anyone I missed.
Scott Sable won the Pro/Adv ace pot with a sweet shot of hole 10, and it was his first of the day!!!
Kenny Adams won the Am ace pot on hole 12.
Marq Lewis won a traveler basket during a little 3 throws for $5.00 lunch special..
Thanks again to everyone.
Next year is the 30th anniversary of the Riverside Glide
and it will be on the new course.
See you there...

Thank you Mike and Andrew for great tournament.
Rounds all started on time and ran smooth with no major back ups any where. I loved that layout. I know you have worked hard on getting the original back in but in my opinion this piece of land is a much better, offering some elevation and more shade. ;)
Thanks again for taking the time to make sure the Glide happened. ;)

I agree. I loved the layout, and it was nice not to have the cars whizzing by you on riverside. I'll bet that the foot traffic on the west side trails lessens some when the constuction on the east side is completed.
The nice thing about the east side riverpark course is the visibilty to the general public. If we want to promote the growth of the sport, it is good to have a course that EVERYONE (meaning non disc golfers) knows about. Would it be too much to ask to have 2 permanent river parks courses, one east side and one west side?

I think we stand a good chance at getting a permanent course on the west side.
Now is the perfect time since the Riverparks is excited about Disc Golf due to the new course.
I will present the idea and see what happens. We do have everything we need from the old course...

great job TnT, tourney was great & I had lots of fun. Big thanks to everyone that made it so. Also, BIG thanks to whoever found my red wraith stuck in a tree on hole 3. I keep setting that disc free and it always seems to come back, it must be true love. :o

I forgot about the final 9, I don't know how.
What a different experience that was!! It was very cool having a little gallery following us around. Thank you Andrew for caddying and keeping me juiced up. It was very fun, just needed 1 more putt to stick. Probably my best 9 of the weekend.

As everyone before me has mentioned, thank you to everyone that made this tourney possible. It was my first PDGA tournament and I had a blast. Great course layout. I too would love to see two Riverside courses in the near future. It would be great exposure for the sport and convenient for many people.
As for that red wraith, you're lucky I'm a tall SOB :D

There was some really good vibes flowing out there yesterday, seemed like everyone was pleasant and having a good time. Me and Frankie had a blast walking around the course checking out the final 9, natties in hand of course. I followed Wise around for about 6 holes during the final 9 and dude was CRUSHING it...nice win, Wise.
TnT pulls off a successfull tournament once again, great job guys.

Well I didn't play so I have nothing to brag about other than park light # W186 which I knocked a hole in and is now tilted about 15-20 degrees east. I guess if anything I can tell Lil'Moose that I played "Lights Out" in the doubles. :)
Good job team TnT on another well run tourney. The westside course would definitely be a great addition to the disc golf mecca.

I showed that light to a lot of players and they really found it hard to believe that you had that much power in your shot. :o

Well I had to do something because my back was getting sore from having to carry you for a couple of holes.
and....
I didn't want Ben or Penny thinking they could take my lunch money without a fight. ;)
You all better be nice to me or I'm going to show up in your neighborhood and start knocking out streetlights. :D

Yep....Someday people will see me walking down the street and say....
"There goes Furdog. The greatest destroyer of public security lights that ever was."
The best karma out of the deal would have been if that light happened to fall about the time that biker that ran over someone's disc was passing underneath it. I would kind of get irrate if some biker purposely went out of his way to run over one of my discs that happened to be laying in the path.

I had no run-ins with bikers, but I did "have" to wait for a walker to pass by. My disc was directly in her path, so I just waited and watched. It was a nice pause :D

Yeah - I "had" to wait for as a couple of joggers came up the path towards me too. And, with a couple of them, I also "had" to watch them after they passed me and jogged away, just in case they decided to turn and come back into my driving line while I wasn't looking. Better safe than sorry. ;)
