Hello all,
This year the Tour de Rizbee will be making its way through New England and we wanted to know the best courses to play!!
So, if you could play just one course in each state (Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts), which one would it be???
If you want to tell us in person, we'll be out and about July 7th-10th.
Thank you!!! Each response is greatly appreciated.
Team Rizbee! :D

These look like great recommendations, Jeff. Unfortunately North Calais isn't open to the public, but all the rest look accessible. Thanks!!

North Calais is open to anyone who contacts Paul Olander (http://www.nefa.com/courses/index.htm) and asks him politely if you can play the course.

i'll agree with jeff about north calais.....with an asterisk and VT choice 1A.....
the Sugarbush resort is about 45 minutes southwest of north calais. there are two courses on sugarbush's ski hill. The peak course requires a chairlift ride to the top, from where you have spectacular views and mostly cross-hill or downhill fairways back to the ski village. as much as i love north calais, the peak course is ridiculously unique and fun. incidentally, the chairlift only operates friday thru sunday.
perhaps you can hit both sugarbush and north calais.....

Rats, we're going to be near Sugarbush on either a Tuesday or Thursday. :(
I'll make sure to contact North Calais. Maybe if I offer to bring them some Ben & Jerry's...

WooooHoooooo!!!!! The Tour de Rizbee is officially underway!! Friday, we left from Lindbergh Field at 11 o'clock. After a stop in O'Hare, we arrived in Syracuse at around 8:30 in the morning. We picked up our brand new, 2008 Ford Fusion at the rental dealer and sped off to Rome (Rome, NY that is). The 2008 Ford Fusion, with SYNC powered by Microsoft. Drive One.
Sorry, spammers keep sneaking into our server. :D
After a short drive from the airport, we stopped in Canastota to find Oxbow Falls DGC. No Luck. Then, we headed to Oneida to find the World's smallest Church (pictures on the way)!!! Finally, we made it to Rome to Granny Rizbee's house and had Chicken & Bisciuts for dinner. :)
Day 2:
Rizbee and I got up early to finally find Oxbow Falls. Turns out it was a few miles south of where we had looked. Pretty nice course. Lots of woods but still some open holes. We can't wait to shake left hands with the designer of this course. :D After we got back we headed to Forestport to The Buffalo Head for some steak and mashed potatoes. Afterwards, we drove through beautiful Central New York.
Tommorow, the real trip begins. :D

I think someone neglected to mention that I am now the owner of Enerald Isle bagtag #4, after my sweeping victory this morning at Oxbow Falls. The 150g Sidewinder and Whittler were dangerous weapons today!!
Hyzer Creek tomorrow!!!

Ohhhhh Boy!!!!!!!
More Tour de Rizbee action! Sorry we couldn't back to you sooner we were having so much fun!
Day 1 : 10:00 we left Rome, NY for Hyzer Creek and along the way we stopped at Nell & Lo's Cafe for a Chicken Parmesan Sandwich /msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif. Hyzer Creek was amazing. When you own your own piece of property you can make a really sick disc golf course. Lots of tunnels through the woods with great elevation. Oh, and did we mention the creek??!!? But, we did encounter a little rough terrain. The course was swarmed with flys and gnats :p. Still a nice course.
Afterwards, we headed to Bennington, VT. While there we found the Battle of Bennington Monument with a 300-foot high tower that could be seen around town. Also, Willow Park had a nine-hole course so we decided to check it out!!! Tee signs needed to be updated. Oh well. The whole reason we went through Bennington was to check out the Blue Benn Diner but it turned out we were too late. :( Bummer. Up to Burlington!!!!!!
Day 2 coming soon!!!

Indeed, Willow Park is set in a beautiful space on a hillside overlooking the town of Bennington, VT and the surrounding mountains. Adding to the setting is the view of the 300 Battle of Bennington monument, visible from many holes. The park is quite hilly and a few of the holes play over some severe elevation changes.
I first played this course in the summer of 2004 and it was one of the worst I had ever seen. It played through childrens playground equipment, a skate park, and way too close to baseball fields making for a terrible safety hazard. I received word that the course had been redesigned and returned in the fall of 2007 and it was only marginally better. The course now stays away from the childrens playground equipment but there is still the possibility of interaction with other park facilities. One hole plays right over a soccer field and next to wetlands. Another thing they did was attempt to use the same tee signs, and draw the new hole design in pen on one corner of the sign. With unlabeled baskets and these confusing signs, I was still unable to negotiate my way properly around the course. And finally, several baskets were leaning badly and hole#2 was missing altogether. Unless you live locally and have to drive great distances to play a basketed course, I recommend avoiding this one like the plague.
