I do believe it is a combination of both layouts.

I think it is 1-6 alt 7-12 regular 13-special 14 alt, 15 special, 16 reg, 17 alt and 18 reg.

Dan Bougher and I are on the way to mark the Golden Tees at McClure. They should be up by 1:00 for practice. Hole #15 "The Clowns Mouth" should be marked with caution tape for your enjoyment. The holes wil be designated with yellow paint and orange flags. I looked for yellow flags to fit the theme but was unable to locate any. I hope to see you there.

The "Golden Tees" are up and ready to play. I have seen two scores of under par since they have been established. Good luck.
If you have any good stories like Dan Boughers 19 on hole 6 please feel free to post. That's right, +17 on one hole.

Nope, I'm not going to make to Norman this weekend. The 4th weekend is a bad time for me to go on any disc golf road trips, that's why I've NEVER made it to the MM Classic as bad as I would like to go, I just can't.

Anyway, back to the Golden Tee discussion;

Dale, we're playing from the "Gold Tees", Kyle has typed up a very detailed description of every hole, their O.B. Rules and where to re-tee from when appropriate. This layout is my attempt to make McClure as difficult as possible. Come out and check it out and give us some feedback on the Gold configuration.

If I don't see ya, be safe and have a great 4th of July weekend!!

Golden Tee Rules
All re-tees incur a one stroke penalty.
If your disc hits on the fairway and bounces or rolls out of bounds you must re-tee. You must continue to re-tee until you land in the fairway.
If the disc is surrounded by water, parking lot, or sidewalk you are ruled OB and must incur a one stroke penalty.

1. Alt tee pad. You must land between the sidewalk and the creek. Sidewalk and creek are OB. If you do not land in the fairway you must re-tee. When you re-tee you have the option to throw from the original tee-pad which in this case is the designated drop zone.
2. Alt tee pad. You must land between the creek and all sidewalks, otherwise re-tee.
3. New tee behind original tee pad. You must cross the sidewalk otherwise re-tee.
4. Alt tee pad. You must cross the creek and be left of the sidewalk, otherwise you must re-tee.
5. Alt tee pad. You must land between the baseball field and to the right of the sidewalk, otherwise you must re-tee. When you re-tee you have the option to throw from the original tee-pad which in this case is the designated drop zone.
6. Alt pad. You must land inside the sidewalk, otherwise re-tee. When you re-tee you have the option to throw from the original pad which in this case will be a designated drop zone. .
7. Original tee pad. You must land across the sidewalk and right of the street, otherwise re-tee.
8. Original tee pad. You must land across the creek. The sidewalk and over the fence are OB. When you re-tee you have the option to throw from the Alt tee pad which in this case will be a designated drop zone.
9. Original tee pad. Over the fence and across the side walk are OB.
10. Original tee pad. You must land inside of all sidewalks.
11. You must land between the creek and the sidewalk, otherwise re-tee.
12. Alt tee pad. Over the fence is OB.
13. New tee pad located behind the original tee pad.. You must land inside of all of the sidewalks, otherwise re-tee.
14. Alt tee pad. You must cross the sidewalk near the basket and to the left of the road, otherwise re-tee. When you re-tee you have the option to throw from the Alt tee pad which in this case will be a designated drop zone. The painted line is the OB line on this hole only.
15. Alt tee pad. You pass through the Clowns Mouth and cross the creek landing on the fairway, otherwise re-tee.
16. Original tee pad. You must cross the road and land inside all of the streets, otherwise re-tee.
17. Alt tee pad. All streets are OB.
18. Original tee pad. You must cross the road, otherwise re-tee. All streets and to the right of the sidewalk is OB.

No, Penny won with a +3 I believe. It's definately not easy...I just got done shooting a whopping +22!!! OUCH!! The best I've shot on it is the first time I played it at +1. The best score I know of yet is Dave Wise with a -3...and believe me, he shot nearly flawless golf...not just for an old man, I'm talkin big boy salty golf!! So come test yourself against the severe O.B. Gold Tee McClure course and see what kind of score you can shoot.

Note: My golden tee stories of the day were a 7 on hole 1 (nice start to the round) and a 9 on hole 6, not to mention multiple circle 4's and 5's. GET SOME!! :D

What a blast!! Great layout, very challenging, has a good mix of birdies to +++par holes. I think this is exactly what McClure needs.

Thanks Big Dave, Kyle, and Dan for putting this on. I had a real blast playing doubles as well. Really balanced teams, with decent scores. Had a riot of a time playing with the Big fella.

Thanks guys for putting this on, great job. I had a blast playing, but the best part was watchin the guy's go from cocky to cryin on one hole. :) We just got to that point where it was laughable, high fives for a triple bogey. :D

Jul 07 2008, 12:01 PM
-3 is good, but the results scream to me that most everyone played poor...

...I think if Coda was there he would have posted around a -6.

I was -4 with 4 to go...hole 17 I am past the basket for par, but miss. Then the same thing on 18, I am in front of the gravel by the tennis courts, and miss again.

Then tack a circle 5 on hole 1 and a much needed birdie on hole 2 and that will bring you back to even!

My only regret is that circle 5, my only o.b. of the day and it cost me shooting under on the golds...

BIG thanks to Big Dave and Wilkes, I love the layout.

Thanks to Dan for taking signups.

Maybe Wilkes and big Dave will TREAT us to another round out there sometime...

I would like to see that layout measured and have a SSA applied to it so we can see what good score really is.

Using google earth, it looks like the new layout is around 6,760ft and the PDGA shows the regular course at 5,773. So 1,000ft more and a whole lotta OB! /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

nicholson5150
Jul 07 2008, 03:09 PM
Yeah, that would be sweet. I think Andrew is about right with what a top pro like Coda "COULD" shoot. But I think that day you shot -3, it was kinda windy and I think that wouldve been a 1020 to 1030 rated round. In my opinion, that was a near perfect round for that day's conditions.

I mean even in doubles yesterday after the 1st round, the best score was -5, and there were some good teams...
Me & Penny -5 (won playoff)
Kyle & Pennington -5
Crowl & (I dont know) -5
Dale & Sammy! -4
Dan & Orville -4 (Orville carried Dan with some HUGE drives & putts) :D

So I think -5 to -7 will be the best scores ever on that layout. I love the fact that par means something on that course. A 59 stroke variance!!! That's what I think it should be like, I mean if you go out and play ball golf with say, Tiger Woods, he should beat you by at least 20 to 30 strokes. Under par should be something only the best players can accomplish, and even then they shouldn't be able to shoot -12 anywhere. Just my opinion, but I'm glad everybody liked it.

Duff, I love the comment about people going from cocky to crying in one hole. I can't relate to that for sure. :D
