Well folks the Pearsall Park course is nearly 100% complete. I walked the course today and it definately exceeded my expectations. According to Dave M the course is scheduled to offically open sometime in October. I think we are going to try and stage a joint mini with all the clubs out there for free (at least I want to and Dave seemed to be on board with it). Perhaps with the city's blessing we can do it at some sort of community event / ribbon cutting ceremony to help promote the sport to the community. The course ins't on par with McClain or Live Oak but it is far superior to Nani Falcone. The fairway landing areas are VERY tight, there are some nice holes, a couple of 500 footers a couple of 400 footers a few 325+ footers and about 9 of less than 325 feet. There are a lot of nice elevation changes. The course is an overhand throwers dream. I took some pics with my camera phone ... I'll post them a little later.

One can only hope! I was planning to start Random Draw Doubles a week or two after Club Championships, it would be nice to add Pearsall to the choices.

Course is in but not open to public yet. Pete has the course record at -3 if you count every hole as a Par 3. The first disc has also been losted at hole number 6 a yellow day glow Surge with a 2006 World Stamp /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif  :D

Dave I got your disc. Found in the middle of the fairway on hole 6. :)

I shot a 48, 22 on the front (thumber central) and 26 on the back. I can't wait to see what Phil or someone with a better thumber can score out there. 9 or more of the 18 holes are thumbtastic! :o:o:o

I ran into the General Contractor and he tooled around the course with me on his ATV. I then ran into someone from the Parks dept who said they are "way behind schedule" due to funding issues and the park won't offically open until November . Seems that he was mostly referring to the soccer fields. Either way, the disc golf course is 100% complete.

Played it for the first time today and man am I out of shape or does everyone get that tired walking up and down those hills? This will be a nice little course once it gets stomped down and gets some needed rain. It is really thick off the fairways right now on those back holes. Some tees and/or baskets need to be moved for safety reasons. I don't remember what holes but there were a few. She'll be ready for a one day C-Tier in the near future. Once the park officially opens, we should have some workdays and help get this course in shape. All in all.....pretty good. Worth the drive to play it.

played a little on sunday this week. last cash...we're both out of shape.

due to the kids, which was a bad idea, forgetting to bring drinks, and the awesome loudness that was the airshow at lackland... we only played 12 or 13 holes. i must say though, i can't wait to go back. i really like the elevated baskets!! that and i need to finish the course. i was on course for par!! which is unusual for me. good confinence booster

FYI ... Played Pearsall yesterday. Good news and bad news. The bad news is that none of the grass the city tried to seed worked. I'm not sure if this stuff lasts until spring but I doubt it will sprout now given the change in the winter sun (unless they planted rye grass).

Good news is the course is 100% open. There is no reason not to go out and play this course. I saw many other casual players out there playing. The parking lot for the course is 100% finished and open. The course needs to be played to get beaten in as the rough on some of the holes very rough.

Oh and did I mention that the grass just got mowed? Makes it much easier to find your disc!

Hey, I'm trying to keep that on the down-low. :D

Are you playing the McClain mini this Saturday?
If so, bring those 2 Wasps you put aside for me and I'll have $10 for you.

Played it for the first time Thursday with Rastaman and Paul B. The first 2 holes were surrounded by squishy muddy patches but other than that the course was a lot of fun to play. The 30+ mph wind gusts made for some very "interesting" flight paths. :p :D

The cool thing about the course, because of the elevation changes, is that there are holes and shots out there that don't exist on any other San Antonio area course.

Rastaman,

can you post the safari 9 holes we talked about?

Bad News ... Pearsall Park had its first round of vandalism. The top half of 17 (chains & yellow band) have been stolen. I contacted the SA parks services department with this information. Bird can you relay this to your contacts in the Parks Dept?

What in the world are they going to do with just the belt and chains? Wear it around their neck? This almost sounds like some stupid Flavor Flav wannabe.
