In my experience, Champ Whippet-x is very similar to Z Xtreme in range & flight characteristics.

Except the Xtreme is 2 notches more overstable. I think the Z Drone has just as much or even more range than the Whippet and of course the FLX Drone.

more accurate comparison is stability... champion viper vs. drone... both super stable both dont go very far
xtreme and viper also REALLY comparable
(we aren't talking DX viper here, thats WAY different)

The Drone seems more like Champ Gator

i think this is the most accurate comparison for the drone.
the whippet X compares more to a gateway blaze than anything else. and i bet no one will know what i'm talking about.

Except maybe this guy <--- In all instances that I use the word gator, i am talking about a Champion Gator X that is tall, thick, beefy, and has a nice thick bead on the rim. none of those sissy dx or star gators....
I would say that the drone gets a longer flight than a gator, just because the gator is like trying to throw a brick.... a giant wind defying brick. However, the Pig is flying just like a gator, but with more distance so maybe a Pig and Drone are a better comparison.
And yes, a blaze is fairly close to a whippet x.
As much as I love my whippet x and the pig is a replacement to a gator, i throw some stellar woods rollers with a gator. that nice flat edge is very wheel like and conducive to rolling. Pigs and whippets just dont want to roll as easily and accurately.
and just to stop the nay-sayers before they say it... yes I roll a flying disc on the ground.
