I'm a Youth Pastor at a small church in Tanner, AL. Behind our church we have about 2-3 acres of land. Just recently it was brought to my attention that the land really doesn't get used for much so the church asked me to establish a course on the property. Now mind you it's not gonna be REAL baskets most likely we'll just use Mach Lites or something we make for the mean time, but in the future we might put in real baskets!
Now as far as I understand the property is PRIVATE. Under the course directory there are private courses listed. How would I go about getting this course on the list once we have a name and have put some kind of thing in the ground...you know once we've got the ball rolling ( or should I say the disc) I'm NEW to all of this, but I think it's an excellent idea on reaching out to the Youth in the community. I could use all the input possible, ideas, etc... THANKS! I walked the property today and at best we could put 9 holes out there. We have 2 courses locally within 5 min, one's a 19 hole course the other a 7 hole course behind a college library.

A short (pitch and putt) would be great for you to put in.
You don't have a lot of land to work with, usually you want an acre per hole for a good course.
But to put something in for your church to use, and even could use it for some outreach, that would be cool.

Being a young course designer myself, the biggest pointer i can give you is this:
do not worry about the number of holes that you can install, instead worry about the quality of the holes that you install. If you build several great holes that are both fun and challenging, then the fact that you dont have 9 holes or more will be overlooked.
i cant tell you how many times i have played a course that could have had 6 great holes, but instead installed 9 so-so holes instead.
After you get that course designed, just contact the PDGA with your info and they will get you listed on the course directory. Just be sure to take lots of photos to show off your hard work!
Best of Luck!

Go to the Course tab and open, there's an option to add a course there, fill out and submit. Normally it's posted within a day.

I see the add a course button now. I didn't know it was there. It'll probably be the summer before it's all done. We're going to walk it tomorrow. I went and walked it myself earlier this week and mapped out a SOLID 7 holes. Wish we could have fit "9" but like you said better to have 7 really good holes, then 9 crappy holes slammed into a small amount of room. Thanks for your input!

Myself and the other Youth Pastor I'm working with at the church talked tonight. He originally had planned on us making the baskets. That was gonna cost about $350. I decided that if nothing else let's get cheap practice baskets. I mean it's only an 8 hole pitch and putt course. So I told him we need a budget of $1,250. Ask and ye shall receive. So once it get's approved we're going to get 8 DGA M-14 practice baskets. We've only been working on this course for a couple weeks and we're pretty much 90% done!!! We just have to walk off the measurements. We're doing our own signs, and we have to come up with a name for the course, and that'll be 99% of it!
If only all courses went in this easy!!!

So much has happened since I posted last. As of 12/23 we have ordered Discatcher Sports. The course has been shortened from 8 holes to a solid 6 holes. We have the signs ready, we just have a little work left to do and it should be open. We're planning on the end of January or beginning of February for an opening day tournament. 2 Rounds and maybe some hot dogs or chili in between. We still have to make the main sign, put the markers in the ground for the teepads, and do some cleaning up around the course, but that's about it. We also came up with a name...we named it CROSSROADS. There's an area about a minute from the course that's named Tanner Crossroads. We kind of stole it from there. Thanks so much for all your input.
