Looks like White Settlement will soon have a 9-hole course at Saddle Hills park. The design is done and equipment is on order. One more parks board meeting and installation can begin.
Sweet!!!!

Do you know who did the design, or do you have any details about the course hole lengths?

After my first post I was contacted by the city about the courses I designed in Haltom city and Ft. Worth asking to hire me to look at their park. The park is small but good enough for a nice casual 9 holes. A bare minimum project as far as funds {like most:(} Just baskets and signs no concrete pads. Only short tees for now but room for longs/alt's if desired. The parks board meeting was tonight and it went well. 2-3 weeks more and it should be in.

As for distances, nothing over 400', but optionable OB sidewalks, a nice defined, shallow creek and some fun elevation shots make it interesting. Good variety and hopefully good fun.

There are several people in the Metroplex who have experience in designing courses. Please feel free to ask for their advice.

Please.

I have not seen a "bad" disc golf course yet (except maybe Coppell :( ), but the design at Gateway could have used some polishing, IMO.

I don't beleive I know you? Nor do you know me or what my experience is. You asked me for info and I shared it with you. Thank you for stating the obvious about Gateway but it needs more than polishing and never had the man power to finish the job. It is a shame it has potential. If you or anyone would like to discuss design further or a particular course please assign it to the appropriate thread.

thanks

I apologize. I thought this thread was the one to discuss course design for Saddle Hills.

And please don't take my comments the wrong way. Almost any course design can use some polishing. And I am sorry that the man power did not show up to finish the job at Gateway. That is not the fault of the course designer (which I assumed that you were).

I Played a few Holes after work. Holes felt and looked well Planned. I see a need for a bridge, few holes near the Water. I was Playing in the rain and the Police stopped as they thought my car broke down, he did snicker when I told I was playing.

Will like to come back with the rain and mushyness...

Already!!!!! Looks like the idiots are already out in force. Hole #4, the intentional obstacles have been tailored and well, cut down. The stubs you see were once trees-cut by someone who obviously doesn't like trees. @#$^&#*&^^$####!!!!!!!!!

If some one sees him or anyone cutting anything call the city and ask for Rich Tharp 817-246-1043. thanks

Will keep my eyes open and spead the word. If He wants to help he should build some stairs on that Hole.

Good news on Hole #4, I suggested to Mr Tharp plant something to replace what was cut. I think some bushes were planted, need to get out there to verify. From the picture on dgcourse review it looks like bushes. ???

Hole # 4 replanted with several bushes. FYI- emty lots on far west side of park parking lot is very private property. Please stay out of those driveways. It is posted with many signs that read " private property" and " Keep out". I was stopped and personally warned from owner to keep off his property when I acidentally backed into the emty driveway last evening in the dusk, both lots are his. I love this course and would hate to see disgruntled owners nearby give us disc golfers a bad name. Peace and happy huckin'

Marked out some alt's for Rich this past week. Alt/short tees on all but holes 5 & 7, Alt. pins on all holes, some long some just alt. Now play a virtual 18. Have fun!!!

The city is pleased with turnout and the positive feedback. So don't let the few who are out there altering the course cutting trees, tagging etc. tarnish that. Report any vandalism you see immediately. Rich Tharp 817-205-8656. The better image each course has the more courses there will be.
