Ladies,
April 10th and 11th Texas will be at it again!
We want to invite you to another year of the Texas Women's Championships, a disc golf event for the ladies about the ladies. This will be our sixth year to present an event that will challenge your disc golf skills and make a experience that you will look forward to every year. Last year's 78 lades have inspired us to pool the ladies to play on different courses in the same park at the same time. This will allow us to except up to 144 players and with the success from last year we have to grow to the player. All the perks the ladies have been accustomed to at TWC will only be better this year.
Sign up will start January 25 with on-line and mail options<O:p</O:p

Hey Vinnie,

We've been reading your signature line for years:

"There will be a basket on my casket"

I was giving this some thought today. Rather than a bask on your cask, how 'bout one on your grave site instead.....perhaps as your tombstone? When friends come to visit they can get in some quality putting practice at the same time.

:D

FYI ladies, if you are coming to Tejas to play in TWC and want to test your skills the week prior, come on down to Boerne Texas where the San Antonio Disc Club will be hosting an event on April 3, 2010. This course will be a great start to your week and we always take care of the ladies in Texas. Last year Val played in this event too . If you are interested in playing check us out at www.sanantoniodiscclub.com/series.htm or [email protected]

Hey there we are trying to get a group of ladies together to come down to this year's TWC. My wife played in it the year before last and had a great time even though the weather wasn't so good. Since then we have started womens minis here in town and have really tried to grow the sport for the ladies here in San Angelo. Think there is 2 or 3that are really serious about coming...and another 2 or 3 that are maybes.

Since actually caddying for my wife would be a baaaaaaad idea....I am trying to stir up some interest in doing a station sponsored by the Concho Valley Disc Golf Assoc. Can someone maybe post, pm, or email ([email protected]) me some details about doing that?

And don't forget the Texas State Championships in Houston the week before the Boerne Tourney. Come get some A-tier action! That's why Val stayed through last year and made it out to Boerne. Hope you guys are doing well up there Jerry. Houston is working furiously on getting ready for another big blowout Texas States. We are also working on getting a girly station ready for TWC Vinnie. Tiff is really looking forward to this. We also have probably the youngest women's junior that will be in tow for the tourney, but she's not quite ready to compete just yet. In a couple of years look out TWC for Tristin Brogdon #42458. She's already been studying the game with about 8 rounds of golf in her first month alive!

No problem Vinnie. I personally donated around $75 bucks this past weekend via the LOLO fundraiser and I think all together they raised around $1000 for a hole sponsorship, a girlie station, and several entries. Keep up the good work.

All the credit her goes to Laura and JimBob for putting on one of the most fun events around. Between all of the ice bowls, food drives, and lolo fundraisers the local area disc golfers have had a huge local civic impact! WE ALL ROCK!

Also, Vinnie since I won a basket at the LOLO mini I am going to use one of my old baskets for a CTP prize at the April 3rd Texas Hill Country Throwdown Tournament (http://www.sanantoniodiscclub.com/throwdown.htm). 50% of the proceeds sponsor a TWC sponsorship, 50% go towards to the SADC New Course Initiative. Plans are to re-paint the basket ...

Twisted Flyer has teamed up with the tournament directors of the Texas Womens Championship Ed Coffey and Vinnie Miller to bring back the Birdies for Boobies fundraising campaign to raise money for both the 2010 TWC and the Susan G. Komen Foundation. At the 2009 TWC Twisted Flyer had started Birdies for Boobies and donated $1.00 for every birdie the ladies made during the tournament. The ladies raised $150.00 and Twisted Flyer dontated that to the Susan G. Komen Foundation on behalf of all the participants at the TWC. This year we can raise even more money for Susan G. Komen and the 2010 Texas Womens Championship by purchasing SWEEET Innova Inncolor TFR Star Roc's, Star Mako's, and Star Aviar's. All profit from these discs will go to the biggest womens tournament ever the, 2010 Texas Womens Championship and the Susan G Komen Foundation. Help support womens disc golf and finding a cure for breast cancer all in one disc!!! Disc will be available soon!!!

Buffalo Wings and Rings will be hosting us Saturday night starting at 7. Great place with an outside patio for us to have all our fun and games. Going to be some nice prizes for that as well as a putting contest. We are working on securing a basket as a door prize. They will get us any beer we want. They don't serve liquor probably a good thing, and there half way between me and Vinnie's house frekin awesome. Get signed up at Discnation.com so you to can see your name in lights. I have not yet signed up for this Tournament but will be soon but I have to say I am disappointed to hear we will only be playing OSP:( When I attended 2 years ago we played Wilco, Brushy, and OSP and that was a blast. Don't be disappointed. and don't miss out....we got a really good event/venue planned for all the ladies
INT and rec will not play the North big course, those division will be playing a south course (2 times) and the winter Rock. The TWC has used the Winter Rock with great feedback and the South course has been used in other events with great feedback. Wilco is only 18 holes and to run a full day there, with all divisions would make for a very LONG day.
North-town was the fix all, with 3 quality courses that would allow the event to stay in the same park......BUT the people who get paid more money if a park is delayed have puTT that opportunity on hold for this year.
Ed and I are very engaged with each division's course to match their level of play to ensure a challenging but enjoyable experience.

The south course is VERY cool. Way more technical than the north course, lots of holes that require you to think your way around the course and take risk and reward into account on each shot. If you haven't played it yet I think you like it.

The South Course is a temp course in Old Settler's Park that the city of Round Rock allows us to install for Tournament play - it plays behind the Dell Diamond & Soccer Fields with the walk path & beyond playing as OB on most holes. The front 9 will be up Friday of the event & the temp baskets will be put in Saturday & Sunday am. It's been used for 2009 Outlaws, 2009 HoTT Final, & 2010 Tx St Pro Doubles.

The Winter Rock tournament layout is a combination of the technical holes of the ROCK (I think it's 7-15) in OSP along with a few temp holes that we've played in years past (2 years ago I think) The regular RCOK holes are always there & the temp holes will be set up the day the course is played.

Both courses are challenging, but fair & will require every shot in your bag - for Ams & Pros

She's not going to miss out, we've got at least 2 ladies coming from San Angelo, a ladies lounge for Saturday's rounds, and hopefully a couple more ladies that are on the fence right now. It's just that Jeanne really enjoys playing Wilco, and I think Brush is one of her favorite courses as well. The varity of courses is one of the things she really enjoyed a couple of years ago when she attended her first TWC, and was looking forward to playing them again.

I'll have the latest players list updated tonight. If you see any problems with divisions listed or names or if you any questions please email me at [email protected]

The girly rock will be a 18 hole shorter version of the big course that INT/REC will be playing. There are 2 weddings in the park that weekend which will not allow us to make the girly rock that we have used in the past.

On the subject of the girly stations: Will we be able to drive to the hole we are going to be stationed at, or will we be carrying the stuff in? Just wondering how heavy or light to pack.....Looking forward to setting up the first CVDGA/Warlock Disc golf girly station in a couple of weeks!!!!

Hey Lisa Fajkus,

If you want me to caddie for you during the tourney let me know. It may only be one round but I'd be down to help you out. If there is a round you prefer me to caddie let me know ahead of time and I will try to accommodate. If your boyfriend is carrying your bag already I am willing to donate my caddie abilities to another pro lady.

Let me know,

Support the ladies and get out and caddie fellas!!!

I know it's a little late to post this but there is still time to challenge you ladies for our charity. I would like to see you gals do an intense pledge drive to your friends, employers, and other establishments to match our Birdies for Boobies fund. For every birdy you get they give you $1 or whatever you can wrangle out of them.

We will have the fundraisers discs available at Tournament central and I believe they still have some at the Twisted Flyer site for sell as well. Joe and Danielle thanks again for all you are doing for this record breaking event. I see no reason why this event won't break all records for women's attendance for a single event. Now, how do we get a hold of the Guiness book of World Records?

We know it is last minute, but the Waterloo Club and SADA would really like to help out at TWC with some Lady Lounges for all the women golfers. These are spots on the course where the players can stop to get some refreshments and enjoy some of our local hospitality. It is a great way to let all the women know that they have the support of the entire disc golf community.

Weve got the pop-ups, coolers, tables, etc, but we need some volunteers to run the stations. We want to have at least one, but it would be great if we could get enough people to do two or even three stations.

The tournament is this weekend so there is not much time left. Please help Waterloo and SADA help our women!

If you can help out with this great project, please contact Josh Rippie or Stevo Barnes.

Had a great time this weekend managing the Warlock/CVDGA Ladies Lounge over on hole 5. Was a lot of fun, and had a really good time talking to some of the ladies that past by. Hope some of you decide to make it out to West Texas and give either our West Texas Doubles in September a try, or our big singles event in March...The Crush On the Concho a go. The doubles has a mixed doubles division that is pretty popular, and the Crush(a sanctioned event) had over 140 players this year.

Hope to make it back next year!!! And hopefully we'll send a few more ladies down to play as well next year! The 3 that went this year had an absolute blast!

Thanks to all that made this the great event it was.

Without these people your event would have not been a success. Thanks to all the guys that sacrificed there weekend for the future of our sport we love so much by being caddies, escorts and part of the basket brigade. The maps were great! A few minor inconsistencies on the distances but nothing we couldn't figure out.

TWC was a blast this year, Team TitleDISC will definitely be back! A big thanks to everyone who put in the time and effort to make this thing happen. It's hard work and too often a thankless job. To all you TDs, staff, sponsors, and other contributors - A BIG THUMBS UP from us

One fun suggestion for next year, if it is feasible - we had a lot of caddies and escorts. It would be really cool to see us all wearing some sort of sign on our backs like the PGA tour caddies do. Something that indicates who we're caddying for, or maybe just a shirt that says "TWC Caddy" or "TWC Escort". I might even be able to help make that happen, if the powers that be are interested. Vinnie, you have my number :)

From the perpective of a Father of two competitors, a husband of another, and the rotating caddy of all three I just wanted to say that this was one of the better ran events I've ever attended.

I want to know who designed that juniors course. It was awesome! Not only was it very fun for even the littlest girls out there but it was still challenging, conveniently located close to headquarters and the all important playscape.

Girly rock was also a well thought out alternate course.

...great players packs this year.

...amazing CTP prizes. Thanks to great sponsors like Team DiscQualified, Revolution, and many others, my three girls came away with over twenty new discs, four teeshirts, towels, and two bags. For the second year in a row Tifany won the Revolution bag CTP for the juniors but when they awarded her the bag she carried it straight over and gave it to her new friend Jasmine who had taken first place in the <10 year old division using a borrowed bag.

...free lunch for the ladies both days! How was all this possible?

Thanks Discnation for paying the Juniors entry fees again this year.

Thanks Vinnie and Ed for being Vinnie and Ed and THANK YOU ROUND ROCK!

OK - I've finally uncovered from the pile of stuff that happens after a tournament & have to put a huge thanx out to all the boyz from Central Texas clubs that helped make this happen - baskets, scoring, course set up & breakdown, flowers, ladies stations, lunches, etc. Ya'll rocked the house. A special thank to the Double R for all the sideline work - I know what it takes to make something like TWC happen & this one was a doozie. An extra special thanx to Steve-O, Vinnie, & Edman for really trying to let me be just a player this year - that means a lot to me (now if I can only remember how to play) & to Parker & Webster for being my caddies - I couldn't have done it without you. Most of all I'd like to thank my husband & Vinnie for having the idea of a local all ladies event & having balls enough to make it a reality. TWC changes lives - & not just by ruining mine for 4 months - it make bonds, renews old ones, promotes competition, & helps to change the face of the sport of disc golf. Thanx for all you do, you have the passion it takes to make a grassroots movement become a huge cultutal shift. I know this wasn't a two man army that pulled this year off, but without the passion & drive that you bring to this event each year we could never have set the bar so high. Leah & I already know this - but you boyz ROCK!! Thank you.

Kinda hoped the front page would have more...Is this not the largest number of women ever at a tourney?

Hopefully they are just waiting for a story to get finished...I think it is front page worthy.

Thanks to everyone who had a hand in making this tournament happen. It was a blast and I know I'll be a repeat player for many years to come. I learned some, made new friends, kicked my own butt in the last two rounds, and most importantyly had a great time. I had such a good time not one but BOTH my daughters want to go play TWC with me next year (that's saying a lot since until I came back my 13 yr old wasn't interested in disc golf!) Thanks to Vinnie & Edman and the rest of the guys who worked non stop to make sure we women and girls had a good time! Maybe next year I can get more East Texas ladies out there to play...

Zoe wanted to thank Eddie and Vinnie for the best tournament ever

Big props to all the Double R on a job well done

Hard to wait a whole year for the next one

The ratings and "to par" should be good now

Will the INT women get ratings?

They should get ratings when the official ratings come out

With no players above a 799 rating, the unofficial ratings will not calculate in the lower divisions

Thanks. I can't wait to see what the rating is for Jackies second round. Although it will probably be skewed by the lack of ratings.
