The Stillwater Rotary Club held an event Saturday at Boomer lake. Matt and I drove down and helped them out.
There were 16 players which wasn't too bad considering the lack of advertising and the fact the Ty F. Cunningham, a sanctioned tournament, was held the same weekend. I also think a lot of the college kids who might have played were out of town due to Easter.
They did a very good job and they had a lot of hole sponsors, some tee pads had two!!
I told them we would pick a better date next time which could be this fall. The park department has spent some money on the course and it is looking pretty good.
They painted the tee signs and installed really nice inserts with the hole # and an overlay diagram of the hole. Really pretty cool. They also have mulched around all the tee pads and baskets.
The next time this tournament comes around we all need to really support it. I think this is the path to getting the Stillwater Park Department to be more supportive of the course by upgrading and replacing some equipment.
Anyway, the weather was cloudy but pretty warm. No rain but the morning round had pretty heavy wind and moderate but shifty wind in the afternoon.
