did you get a copy of it???

If not, contact the PDGA offiice, they will have a copy. If you still can't, send me a PM, I am sure I can dig one up from either this year or years past.

This came up in conversation today...

Since all we ever get are the Accord sheets and we do not know how the policy actually reads, what is the time frame that the insurance covers? Does the insurance just cover from registration to the end of awards? The whole day?

As an insured you have a right to a copy of the policy. You could contact the insurer and they'd send the policy to you.

When I buy the insurance, usually it is because the park requires it, and I don't care what it says. Last year I bought the insurance for all six of the IOS tournaments even though only three parks were requiring it. I figured if someone got injured by some unreasonably dangerous condition on the course, it would be nice if they could get compensated.

Sure I have the right & I had to request just to get my copy of the Accord. I just thought someone would know so, I did not have to request it and then try to interpret the policy...

For $50 it is a good deal. I just wondered what my $50 covered exactly.

Is it possible to get insurance through the PDGA for a non-PDGA-sanctioned tournament? I'm running an Ice Bowl event late in February and would like to find an alternative to the $95 insurance fee that the park district charges. I'd like to maximize the charity donation

Allen,

The PDGA cannot legally provide insurance under our policy for non-sanctioned events. I would suggest that you check out the PDGA's new Competition Endowment Program, which allows charity events to sanction at a discounted rate with all player fees donated to the events charity, provided it is a registered 501.c3 charity.

Details can be found here:
PDGA Competition Endowment Program (http://www.pdga.com/msgboard/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=771439&page=0&vc=#Post77 1439)

Thanks, Brian, I knew I had seen this mentioned before. The event I'm running is an Ice Bowl charity fundraiser. As such, we allow players to buy mulligans to help raise more funds for the charity. Would we still qualify for this program?

Allen,

CEP charity events can sale mulligans but those rounds will not be rated. I know from experience that the sale of mulligans at our Ice Bowl is one of the better revenue generators for our charity. Good luck with your event and please don't hesitate to contact the office if we can provide you with additional information on the Competition Endowment Program.

I reviewed the program documents and it looks like I missed the deadline for a Feb. 24th event. Should I submit an application anyway?

Does the PDGA run on "disc golf time?" ;)

Is there some place that the standard PDGA insurance policy is published? I'm curious about what I've purchased... it seems like something that is probably posted somewhere but I just don't know where.

Allen,
The charity side of the Competition Endowment Program does not have a deadline so please submit your application.

Joshua,
Contact Karolyn Garlock [email protected] at the PDGA office and she can e-mail you a summary document of our insurance policy.

I can't find a link to the PDGA Event Insurance and exactly what is covered or excluded. I know it costs $50 but that is all I know.

Where is this info.
Thanks

You have to get it from PDGA HQ: [email protected]

There is some confusion (possibly all on my part) regarding the PDGA Insurance that covers sanctioned events.

Is the event covered by the PDGA insurance policy by the mere fact that one pays the sanctioning fee? Or does one have to pay the $50 for the "insurance certificate" for the insurance coverage to apply?

Is there someplace on the PDGA website where the above is clarified and I've just missed it?

Lastly, where does one find a copy of the insurance policy to see exactly what is covered?

Thanks.

One other item:

Is there an extra cost to the TD to have a course owner listed as an additionally insured?

I have listed additional insured entities without additional cost.
