Mobile is proud and excited to be hosting the 16th Southern National Pro Championship, ending the 2011-2012 touring season. After hosting the first seven SN championships, Mobile has not hosted an SNPC since 2007, a tournament in which still holds the cash payout record for the Southern Nationals and is still one of the highest-paying PDGA B-Tier tournaments ever. http://www.pdga.com/tournament_results/12709 The SNPC is the culmination of a year's worth of quality disc golf tournaments in the Southeast, of which each qualifying tournament has a $2 per player fee, and these monies are collected to add to the Championship payout.

The tournament will be held September 1-2, 2012, in Mobile, Alabama. SNPC2012 is a PDGA B-Tier tournament and one of only nine USDGC qualifying tournaments, which includes the World Championships, all six U.S. National Tour events, and the Stockholm Open in Europe, a Major event. The USDGC has become arguably the most popular and prestigious disc golf tournament in the world, and Mobile is proud to be associated with this great event.

The biggest change for this year's SNPC is that ALL players must have played in one SN-qualifying tournament for the 2011-2012 season. There will be no exemptions to get into SNPC2012. You MUST have 2Points2Play. The SN qualifying time period is June 1, 2011 through May 31, 2012. This does not include if a player competed in either of the three 2011 Championship tournaments (SNDC, SNAC or SNPC). Players are not required to be current PDGA members to play the SNPC, although encouraged. The non-current member fees will be covered by the Southern Nationals and the SNPC.

SNPC2012 will be limited to 144 players. Only the first 144 players invited (based on final 2011-2012 points) will have a chance to sign up before August 1st. The list of invited players will be posted shortly after the conclusion of the 2011-2012 season, and invites will be sent out no later than June 21, 2012.

Qualified players will have until August 1, 2012, to get registered. After this deadline, any SN-qualified professional player (played a 2011-2012 SN qualifier as a professional) will then be able to register. If the tournament has not filled by August 18, 2012, any player with SN points, Pro or Am, will be able to register

The 2011-2012 Southern National touring season is officially over. After all tournament results have been turned in (next couple of weeks or so), invites will be sent to the top 144 players qualified, which will be across all professional divisions. JohnK's administrative skills will let us all know who's in and who's not. The list of players will be listed here at this site. Link to come.

Course work starts this weekend. Langan Municipal Park (Muni) and the University of South Alabama campus (South) will be the courses that will be set up for the championship. Each SNPC competitor will play each course, same layout and tees, twice over the weekend. Each course will be 18 holes, with each course set up differently than they normally play. Official layouts will be announced before each course's Warm-up Tournament.

South's warm-up will be Saturday, June 23, and Muni's will be Saturday, July 7. The divisions offered for these warm-ups will be any Pro or Advanced division with three or more competitors. These will also serve as fundraisers, as a percentage of entry fees will go to the SNPC. Amateur players are encouraged to play these warm-ups, though. Why not see the courses that the best of the best in the Southeast will play? These will be SN qualifiers, so help raise funds for SNPC2012 and get qualified for SNPC2013.

Due to recent renovations on the course, the layout that will be played at SNPC2012 will not be ready to play until a few days before the tournament, but it will just be a variation from how it has always been played. It is also 90% of what was played at the Warm-Up tournament last June.
