E.D.G.E. / PDGA Educational Award Winner Announced
Robert McLeod was honored at USDGC
The annual E.D.G.E./PDGA Educational Award recognizes outstanding contributions in the field of disc golf education. The Educational Disc Golf Experience (EDGE) determines candidates and awardees in partnership with the PDGA. The Educational Disc Golf Experience (EDGE) is a nationally-recognized 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to reaching and teaching youth the great lifetime activity of disc golf, utilizing age appropriate equipment and a standards-based curriculum.
2021 E.D.G.E. / PDGA Educational Award Winner: Robert McLeod #49897
Robert McLeod of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, is the first recipient of the award from outside the United States. He is a participant and promoter of a variety of disc sports including Ultimate, Dog Disc, Overall, and since 2010, disc golf. He holds 13 Guinness World Frisbee Records.
McLeod has introduced disc golf to 400 schools across Canada to over 150,000 students. He also coordinated the first Canadian collegiate disc golf match between the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and the University of Calgary. He is an instructor for the Calgary Junior Disc Golf program and consults with other clubs on how to raise junior awareness.
