Shawn makes a great point ... PJ , you are a player, not too much of a worker ... I think Shawn's education makes him a valuable asset in course maitnance and possibly design. I do believe his lack of travel will inhibit his design ability, but his knowledge of how vegitation can affect errosion, play on the course, whats good/whats bad , so on and so forth is a valuable asset...

ofcourse wootang knows his shiat. I never said he didn't. I was just saying that I 've played quite a few courses and telling brice that there was more potential for crowley than what was out there.

I know I am not a member of the club........but I was talking to Brice last night about how up north all they have is leagues (Peoria, IL). I thought this might be a great way to unite the metropolis! Play different courses every week and run the league for about 8 weeks or whatever everyone thinks would be good. As far as Saturday I think thats a great time! You could donate a bit of something to the courses you play so they would not gripe about having a league at there park or not! Hope to see something come about soon! Another idea is to run the league in conjunction with the course mini you happen to playing at, but then you are double paying for the league so to speak! I would for sure support this type of endeavor. Are you guys planning any upcoming events in the near future?

we could possibly try a travling tourny to some of the 9 holers also and bring a few temp baskets if resources allow it. it would be fun to go back to the 06 format at weatherford for a week..
i like the idea of a travling mini, or league.

I think that Saturday afternoons are perfect. We could have a traveling mini or league for 3 months and go to Cedar Hill, Bear Creek, Veterans, Crowley, Z-Boaz and Weatherford. Start time 3:00 p.m. We would just have to collect a dollar for course fund and a dollar for the ace pot and give the course fund money to the course that we are playing at.

The only mini on Saturday afternoon that I know of is Cedar Hill and if we give them some course fund money then I don't see an issue with combining the mini with the league play on that particular day. Of course you would have to talk to Hamster man.

We would have to get a calandar of events posted on the FFC website and also some flyers posted at the different courses telling you what day the league play is and where.

The FFC would have to come up with some merchandise to sell and to give to the am players when the league is over.

I am not a member of any club as of right now, but I have been kicking the same idea around about a league. With there being so many courses close by, I of course would not begin to know how anybody would put this together but I believe it would unite the clubs not keep everything so separated. I agree with BigE about all the leagues up north thats all you see in those areas. I have been told it would never work but at the same time no one has ever told me it has been tried. I could see Crowley, Cedar Hill, The Mighty Z, Bear Creek, Veterans Park, Fritz Park all could be in the mix. I think it would be fun and bring alot of DFW golfers together which to me would equal alot of good competition IMO.

It is not the issue of discussing the Z that I have issues with . Discussion of certain issues gives the impression that what we have to say has some sort of influence on what actually goes on out there .. Wake up , it does not .. You know whom to talk to if you wish to see things change.

I said this from the get go , the FFC is not going to turn into a Brian Mace bashing forum.... If you have issues with the course, bring it up on the course thread. If you have issues with the club, bring it up here . It is not too much to ask.

I could not agree more. But I am not contractually obligated to the city , in regards to that course. I will let you all in on a little secret.. The city wants Brian out there on that course. There is a very good chance that if Brian's arse were not on the dotted line, the baskets would be pulled in a heartbeat.. That little nugget of info did not come from an opinion I formulated , nor did it come from Brians mouth.. It came from the city .

I will spell it out in plain english...

I will tell you what I have been told . We will refer to Brian as the project manager @ Z - Boaz, because that is what he is ... The Z is a project, and brian feels it is almost complete.

If you disagree with that , take it up with Brian.

The purpose of the club is to get new courses in the ground . That was the general consensus @ the very first meeting . Staying focused on that is my only priority as Director ... This particular thread was started to discuss topics regarding the activities of the club.. Simple ...

Anybody can talk about what ever they want , but understand that this thread is not going to be a productive venue for change .. That is all I was trying to convey..

Let me explain this in plain english :

We have the opportunity to assist in the installation of a brand new facility in the area... The city has money to spend on this install.. If we blab this to the whole world , somebody may try to cut us out and make a little money off of this action .. Thus removing us from the equation. IS THAT WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR ? WOULD YOU RATHER SOMEBODY ELSE TAKE THIS BALL AND RUN WITH IT ???

There is going to be a concrete teebox for that wanker hole?

That's better then what is currently there.

yeah but it shouldn't even be a hole. it's weak!!!!!!!!

i'm down for what ever.
just saying that if we could finnish the other nine in weatherford it would be easier to run a series or league in fort worth.
it sounded like a good idea.
then we could run a "iterstate 20 league"
weatherford, zboaz, crowley, the vet, cedar hill
i don't know how it will work
that's why we need to discuss this at a meeting
just another thought /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

We dont exactly have the capacity to do this as of right now . The club is short handed as it is , due to the lack of willing members that wish to actually make a contribution of time - vs - money....

In time . Anything is possible..

what does having a lack of willing members have to do with having a meeting about starting a league? seems like talk of a league has sparked some interest in people. maybe having a meeting and asking for their help might get people out. seems to me it has been awhile since we have had a meeting. also maybe you could update people on what has been taking place on progress towards new course being put in.

There is not much room for another tee on that hole ...

Can you guys not be happy with an easier ace run on the course ???? Because that is what the short tee is .
Very aceable .

gave it a good run yesterday. it gets played on thurs. every week. are you guys trying to say that you would rather play on what is there currently? not me

Wait a minute, you guys are playing that hole during the mini's? That's weak.

Like PJ said, that shouldn't even be a hole, it wasn't when I lived there. Just ask 1/3 of the open field that played the event this year what they think of that hole.

no matter what u think of the hole, u r gonna have to play it if u r involved in the thur. mini. based on this, it would be great to have a tee box and not a collection of lumps under a slippery rubber mat.

Well it is a hole, and the sooner everyone gets over it the better. Personally I don't care for it that much, but hey- BFD. I'll live. You'll live. PJ will live. We'll all live. The tee box is there, and iI'm 99% sure it's not going anywhere, so just let's all be happy it will have an actual cement teebox and please everyone, by all means, STFU about it.

8 SHORT IS NOT GOING TO CHANGE.

Mar 24 2007, 11:02 AM
WHAT THE #$*&$! IS WRONG WITH THE SHORT TEE ON HOLE 8 ??

It is an easy birdie/ace run on an otherwise tougher half of the course ... So the rubber tee pad sucks , get over it .

The only other solution for a short tee on this hole would be to put a tee in the recession in the ground in front of the long tee approx 100ft..... Would take a little bit of work, and would pretty much force an overhand drive off of the tee. Is that what you guys want ? I am sure we could make it happen.... I myself prefer the ace run... Especially with the size of the ace pot ...

I for one think the tee pad is fine, maybe a little out of place on THIS course, but overall its ok. And if its going to get played why not put a cement tee box in? I just think we need to hit up a few more tee pads before that though.

It is a waist of our course fund to put in a box there. The other pad is a great hole and no need to mess with something that works.

I totally agree...we need to meet again in order to keep members abreast of what's going on and discuss new orders of business (i.e. league, courses, merch.)

1. The word you want is Waste. And no it isn't. A waste would be putting a teebox in the parking lot.
2. You might feel there are more pressing issues, but denying this area a cement teebox makes baby jesus cry. If I have to tee off there, I'd like a flat even surface where I'm not afraid to bust my #$*&$!.
3. IMHO, every hole should have a pair of boxes. One short, one long.
4. I also would like to see 16's box first. I'd also like a new car and to date a pornstar.

The Texas Womens Championship 2007 is April 21 & 22; we are interested in Texas club participation of this event. In the past clubs sponsored with merchandise and with man power. We want to see this continue. We want to challenge each club to send the most women from their area. We are trying to break the women only attendance record and what better place than Texas. We can use volunteers to escort, disc golf merchandise for ctps, a Texas size player packs, and anything surrounding lady golf. Something I would like to see our club sponsored girly stations. The club could pick a hole to set up a canopy with water, face wipes, candies and club hospitality towards the players.
The question is not if you are interested, but how you are interested in help.
Contact myself or Ed Coffey to work out the logistics. This is our ladies weekend. So lets honor them with our support! Let us know your ideas, we maybe the tournament directors, but the event is Texas owned.

I would like to see the tee signs and the bench's we were promissed a couple of years ago. 16 needs a tee pad as well. If we have to play that hole then we need a tee pad but there are other issues we should deal with first, just my opinion.

Last I heard it was a really low number but who knows.

I am glad that at every Funky Town Flyers meeting we know how much we are worth and how many new members we have. Just nice to know where all the money is going.

We are tenatively meeting with the city on the 5th to discuss LIABILITY issues with the new course , and the possible location of the new course. We met on sunday , and one of the topics for discussion was giving back to our members . We realise that your membership has not yeilded much in return, and we are looking to give back to the members . We have in mind a small tournament for members, something fun... Possibly a mass game of RIPT, or Wolf or something of the sort. We basically want to get the whole group together and have a great time .. Any suggestions ?

did yah read the TWC request?

Hey Vinnie we are just getting started with our club, but we should be able to help out the ladies. The FFC has the proud honor of have the TWC am champion Stacia Pearce. I am personally willing to help and I know that we should be able to help out in at least a small way. We need to support our women golfers.

i have discs galore. so if you are in need of a ctp, I have some brand new discs that need to be in somebody's bag. just tell me where to send them.

Sweet PJ, Vinnie said he could use these discs for a raffle or ctp and we maybe can send them down with Stacia. I am pretty sure she is planning a return trip to defend the title.

she better be planning on going. I have been dying to give these discs away. this will be perfect. just tell me when.

woote01
Mar 28 2007, 07:14 PM
99.5% sure, should be no problem! the TWC is April 21-22 so we can get everything to Stacia she can take it to Vinnie and represent the FFC in style! :D

that's funny stuff. so i guess Sir Mace-a-lot has spoken. so tell me this then, what does showing up for work days and picking up trash have to do with where a person's money is going? I would also like to know why there is not public record made for public money? seems unlawful somehow but I am not really sure.

I have never seen people get so wound up over $1 in my life as a bunch of disc golfers with so little else to do with their time. The course fund is not public funds. It is a fund that pays for many things at the course and many admin things as well. I will admit that I don't have things down to the penny at this time but come Saturday I will be very close.

I find it very not entertaining how many people think that it is their right to call shots from a room with a computer and do very little else. That is not directed at everyone, you know who you are. I also think that it is very amazing that those of you think that you are the most important people at Z Boaz and that if you don't know them that they don't matter in the consideration of what has and will go on out there. Tournament players and the Funky Town Flyers are not the only one's that use that course and they aren't the only people who are considered when decisions are made about what will happen with the course and layout and so on. Many of you are acting like you have, need, and deserve say in all of the activities that go on out there, but many of you haven't done anything to help facilitate any of this except to play the mini and therefore make a $1 contribution to the course fund. Since you have played and made that contribution doesn't mean that you have any right beyond the action that came in the 18 holes that followed your "MAJOR" contribution.

Z Boaz was established and has operated on this plan, if you want to have some say then do something. Doing something is not hiding in a room with a computer and throwing stones, it is getting your hands dirty. You want to have say and some control, then show you are worthy. Many of you that are making so much noise have adopted a hole and I still see the same people picking up trash on "your always clean hole's" and it isn't you. At least one of you that is making the most noise has proclaimed that "I would rather pay than do any work out there" it is time for you to put a soc in it.

And as for weather you want a tee on short 8 or anything else you want to see happen with course changes. I am not giving consideration only to what you want (organized players) with the changes and improvements at the course, I am giving consideration to all users. Many of the people that play that course do not use the long tee's, that course is there for them too.

There are players, and there course designers/promoters. All of you aspire to be one or the other. Most of you don't have the time in your life to be a designer or a promoter, and wouldn't work for so little and take the heat that you are throwing my way whenever you see fit, because you made a few $1 contributions. Just because you have played a few courses and or you game is coming around and you are an up and coming player doesn't mean you are a course designer. It certainly doesn't mean you know what is best for everyone that plays that course. I am not saying that I know all of that either, but I have more experience with course design than all of you. I have played more courses than all of you combined. I have been more places, talked to and asked questions of more people that have the experience than you can imagine. Does that mean I have nothing to learn? Does that mean that I can't improve? No. However I am the person that has taken on the responsibility and guided the development of that course for YOU, that is all of you. I am doing the best that I can, and not one of you has the time in your life coupled with the experience to make all of this happen. So please stop the BS and lets all move forward together. Everyone of you knows how to reach me, if you need to talk about this than come to the source, not the world wide web. Unless you are unwilling to do anything but run your mouths, if that is the case than please shut up.

THis Thursday the BOD is meeting with the city to discuss what liability we are willing to assume @ our next disc golf course... What this means ?? Chances are, our next course is going to require some annual monetary contribution to a bonding company for us to put a course in the ground! BOOOO! But that is what it takes in these time's following the little " Water Garden " incident.

But , this is good news... One step closer to the next course in the Metroplex... Anybody out there that has committed to a basket purchase, start scrounging up those pennies... If we act fast, we could possibly purchase a full set of 9 baskets ( discatcher ) for 250 a piece.... That is a hell of a deal.. More to follow

if colin would get back to me about those buckets, the money is already covered. ofcourse i could just not donate the money and we could all just go pick up trash, that might get a course in the ground alot sooner, according to maceman logic. :p :p :p :p

I could help with the purchase of the baskets...unless of course you already have a contact. The one's i would supply come straight from Discraft...The Chainstar. I was able to get Lamoreaux an incredible deal on all 36 Chainstars at Cedar Hill. Discraft even gave (yes, free) him almost $2000 worth of plastic to start THE CLUB.
