I think everybody needs to know that Stacia, Shawn, Colin and myself walked out of that meeting with quite a goofy grin on our faces...

The city was more than ready for our arrival , as soon as we sat down the aerial view of our new park was waiting for us . There reception was quite inspiring . Their eagerness to get things going is a fantastic sign . We still have a little red tape to stumble through, and a BIT of paperwork to do. But we are well on our way.

Second round of bag tags hit the streets tonight ... Watch out for the blue ones.. They are quite the stinkers! We have 7 red tags left, that means we have sold 53 bag tags ..

So , we are getting regular monies coming our way. The lines of communication with the city are officially open for business, and a surge of support is arising from every direction. THINGS ARE GOING WELL TO SAY THE LEAST :) :cool::D :D:p :cool:

For those flyers that have the time to help with the trash @ the z ... The city should be dropping off 12 garbage cans next week. Our jobs just got a lot easier.

Just for comparison purposes.... Lester Lorch Park, also known as Cedar Hill is 86 acres.

I use to fish in Mohawk Park when attending college in T-Town.

The total acreage at CedarHill is 86 acres, and the 2 disc golf courses take up most of that 86 acres.

Wildwood park is huge, 70 acres is just a small portion of it.

Westpark is huge, but you must know that there is much more planed for this park. There will be baseball fields, a lake, and much much more. But it is not being masterplanned untill 2010. So we will be the first people's in the park!

Dont bother. We still have to figure out what 70 acres we want . Not going to be a cedar hill install. This land is covered in Live Oak, Mesquite, Yucca, Yucca, Yucca, and some cacti...

"a few $1 contributions" adds up to plenty in the course of my 2 1/2 years of playing, well in excess of $100. how many other people have contributed similarly or more? im not asking for a "to the penny" report, but i am asking for the practice basket to be replaced in less than the 6 or 8 months when it is jacked or benches or pin placements or new tee pads or tee signs or or or or. i have offered my substantial physical abilities and skills numerous times for any and all projects to improve one of my favorite places in the world.by the way, the message board is a great place for this conversation. this way everyone can see when you state your opinions on why this is all wrong and that we dont have any right to our opinions. dont get me wrong, i appreciate all that was done for the z by all the people that made it happen, including you, brian, but i have contributed at least a little when i can and have the right to a few opinions

there aren't many funkytown flyers that are well qualified you are right chris. we do have some that are. i think that the charter members should get a say in what the darn thing will end up being though.

What can I say, the only mini Chris and his number 1 bag tag play is the Sunday mini @ the Vet. And for some reason, he still has it . Not talking ***** , just stating the obvious... As far as me and my mouth... All you have to do is ask, I will be more than happy to shut it ... I have some sweet tourney stamp discs to send down but have not seen stacia out at the course.

When are they leaving?

This course is worth the drive . Directions are a little sketch due to some construction, but not hard to find. They spent some money on this park. The tee signs are by far the best I have ever seen . True par 4 and 5 holes . Hole 3 and 17 are awesome... QUITE A DRIVE....but well worth it .

If there are other golfers on the course, you will have disc's running @ you . Many fairways cross other fairways, putting greens , and tee areas. Keep you eye open, or you could get hurt...

Please pack in and pack out , there are not many trash receptacles on the premisis....

I am just trying to spread the word . In the last 2 months, 4 baskets have come up missing in the Eagle Mountain / Saginaw area in Ft. Worth Texas. 3 baskets missing in Saginaw, and as I discovered the # 7 basket is missing @ the John Hauck designed Eagle Ranch. If you have them in the ground, do something , they are out there . If anybody comes across a random course with a bunch of different baskets , shout @ the discboomer , I would like a word or two with whomever is responsible .The Eagle Ranch basket is a fairly new Discatcher with the words " **** the elevation " scribbled across the belt. The Saginaw baskets will stick out because they have large green numbers on the top, or the toppers will be burned from the welder that was used to fix the numbers to the top. There will be 18 chances to get paid. If a basket is used more than once , there will be a different line on each tee shot . The most aces wins the right to the first tee sign sponsorship. Those are the "Dr. Fred Designer Series Re-configurable" style targets. You can set up a "trap" to force directional putting, which is actually a pretty cool concept. You can pick one side to make puttable and one side to make "OH EFF!"-able by draping that chain differently around the top.

What it would do is make the player actually think about their upshots where landing on a specific side of the basket is extremely better than the other, increasing the strategy of the game.

In practice, disc golfers don't ever like anything different and b<font color="black">i</font>tch uncontrollably when presented with anything "different". :)

BE THERE 6:30 P.M. TO GET THINGS A' ROCKIN

The way this will all go down is very simple .

I will need either 6 or 9 temp baskets, I can provide 1 , I am sure many others can do the same . I will set up a temporary course in trinity park ( directions to follow ) , very short in stature , and very fun to play . Those in attendance will have the opportunity to not only pay out on EVERY ACE HIT , but also, the race winner will be the first official tee sign sponsor of the new course .

The cost will be 6 dollars.

2 dollars for the sign sponsorship
4 dollars to the payout

There will be 18 chances to get paid. If a basket is used more than once , there will be a different line on each tee shot . The most aces wins the right to the first tee sign sponsorship. Prior to the ace race, there will be a little meet and greet for all the members , and a brief yet informative meeting .. 6:30 will be the latest we can start the meeting , and that should be adequate time to make it to downtown..

Funkytown Flyers Club meeting .

This Thursday, the 26th of April

Trinity park , 7th street entrance , @ the pavillion on the 1st parking lot . The pavillion is adjactent to the duck pond.

We will meet for a brief meeting , to go over the actions of the B.O.D. , and the work we have been doing since we met last . Go over some new topics , and most important , get the club together for some fun.

The ace race is simple ... I have set up 9 holes which we will all play twice. All are very aceable . All are very fun. This will not be like anything you have played before. It will be a nice blend of natural and " urban " obstacles , with some interesting lines through some interesting spaces .

The entry is 6 dollars , 4 to pay out , 2 to a tee sign sponsorship which will be awarded to the winner .

The meeting will start @ 6:30 sharp, the ace race will be soon to follow .

All that plan on attending , and consuming alcoholic beverages , prepare to abide by the laws currently enforced by the good folks down @ Ft Worth P.D.
