the Fort Smith Heritage Foundation is having their yearly fair on may 26 and 27. i think i have the dates right it is a sat sun. i met up with justin huss today at the clayton house and we walked the area for the temp course. there is enough room for 5 to 6 holes depending on how they get the streets closed off. granted there won't be any 900 footers where you can throw 360 rollers mostly 200 to 300 foot holes, which will work great with the crowd that we will be drawing from. so far i have two baskets being mine and pitchs. we still need 3 to 4 more. this is an event that we will also need plenty of WAFDA volunteers, yes i said volunteers and plenty of them. for more information fell free to pm or call me although a pm will be better for at least the next three days.

Hey guys, I would have swore I typed out a post for this 3 days ago. I just noticed today it is not on here, so either I dreamed the whole thing or for some reason I didn't send it in. So anyway here we go again.
I do have 4 portable baskets in my possesion at this time. Keldog loaned them to me for use by my disc golf club. I told him I would get them back to him at the end of the year. Our school year is out June 2 so I should still have them. But before I commit I will talk to him to be sure he doesn't have a problem with us using them out there.
On a side note, you guys that pray be saying one for my little one. He has a nasty ear infection (bacteria Pseudomonas). There is really no antibiotics they can use one one as young as him (22months) that will knock this Bass terd out. They are trying a few things now, but his eardrum burst today and they say if it doesn't clear up in a couple days he is going to need to go to the hospital. We don't want or need that right now, so put one up for us please. Thanks and god bless, Willie

if we can use the four baskets that you have that will give us plenty to use for the fair. 6 total. that would save me the trouble of transporting them from fayeteville. when you find out let me know. i'm also looking for at least two tables, one would suffice, a combo tv vcr with a "what is disc golf" video. i still need to get with joey about the possibility of selling plastic and other disc related products. if anyone has any suggestions let me know.
ganzel i could not find that article that you mentioned to me on the phone or who to contact.if you could let me know again. :D
for as far as volunteers i would like to have at least one experienced golfer per hole. mainly to keep an eye on the portables but also to give advice and play the hole with the fair-goers. one to two people at the tables so we are looking at 8 to 9 voulnteers each day to keep this thing going. i will be requesting off work for this so hopefully if all goes good i will be there both days to oversee this thing.

I have the tables - Phil has an easy up tent - I'm also gonna make a cool sign to hang on a table or tent, do you have the TV/VCR/DVD? I'll be available to help both days unless of course something uncontrollable happens.

Cool, I might be able to bum a TV from my daughter or son for a couple of days.... Power will be supplied, right?
superd
Apr 19 2006, 06:20 PM
yeah we will be set up pretty close to the clayton house. power will be provided from there. were using the schoolhouse grounds for holes 1-3 and 5 or 6. theres a soccer field behind the indoor pool where our long shot will be. should turn out pretty cool for a tempory urban course.

So are we looking at a 9 hole layout? And who's setting up the course? Will there be a WAFDA BANNER?And sponsership info? This could produce what we need for HOTB guys.As long as it's set up properly.Looks like your doing a good job on getting it together.

The educational booth and "miniature course" went well, It was for sure an educational experience for all involved and only the first of many such ventures. We were told to expect upwards of 1500 people attending throughout the 2 days, not nearly that many - but we did introduce disc golf to several dozen people and threw thousands of up-shots and putts! (when no one was at the booth what else were we supposed to do with 5 portables and around 150 disc?) The one thing that always suprises me is the amount of people age 45 plus who played back in the 70's or earlier who no longer play or forgot about it for whatever reason we had at least 4 of these types, pretty neat (except alot of them don't play no more)
Many thanks to all that participated
