I got off the water yesterday after six nights and seven days out. had a most excellent time. took a crew of five boys and two adults out in the eastern parts of the boundry waters. our total trip was 76 miles, 1156 rods of portages, (1 rod = 16 feet). our longest day was 19.5 miles shortest day 6 miles. everyday that we were paddling on the water we had the wind to our face. that made for a long trip. i'm definitly getting alot darker and i'm building up some serious muscle in my arms and back from paddling. the portages is a good workout for the legs. a portage is where the crew has to unload the boats of all the gear and carry the gear and the canoe across a land trail to get to the next lake. the canoes are carried on one of the crewmans shoulders.
i will be getting another crew in four days and i will be back out on the water in five days. this time i will be out for 9 nights and 10 days. the staff here is real cool and everything is going real good for me here. i do miss going out to bg and playing dg but there will hopefully be time for that in the future. (depending on if i come back to live in ar, don't hold your breath i had a pretty tempting offer from one of the adult advisors on my last trip and it involves me moving to atlanta city, georgia and studying several forms of martial arts along with alot of other wonderful outdoor survival skills)
until next time everybody there take it easy and play some great dg. as for me i'll be paddling the waters and living in the wilderness. take care
