this is gonna be HUGE !!!
OK here's the deal,
We were approached by Cumulus tonight,They are going to work with WAFDA in an effort to promote and boost Disc Golf participation and development for this area.
A FREE Tournament is in the works ,May 5th is the target date.
2 local charities will benefit from this day of Disc Golf and Games.
Games should include CTP's,Ring Of Fire,Maybe Distance etc etc etc.
More will be available as we are informed of sponsorship and available prizes.
This is PURELY a day of fun and promotion for us all.
No set tee time will be scheduled,It looks as if a play when you show between certain hours will be the format.(Maybe 9:00 am till 1:00 pm)Divisions will be provided. It depends on who shows and what divisions we see nessessary to provide.
Look for a monster of a Junior division (Bring the Kids)Novice and Amature golfers will be the majority of the field.
I'm thinking of a way to pull some Pro golfers. If we can get a nice chunk of cash put up for the Pro folks we might be able to WOW the beginners with a Distance event.(Beginners need to see the caliber of golfers we have in our area)Also,We need you guys to be here to assist us with the massive beginner attendance.
We expect several hundred to flow thru the parking lot and onto the field of play.
Like I said,This is gonna be HUGE !!!!!
Evan ?

I believe we are looking at something very similiar to a "World's Biggest" type scenario, it's just gonna be free, show up, get a free disc - play... very preliminary right now, we'll have the format down soon, alot of possibilities, maybe even try to do full field events where it would be exceptionally affordable to play the "extra games" to raise money for charities, the golf part will probably be free or dang close...
watch out Okies, we're recruiting, might be some natural players that just need introduction to the sport
pure promotion for the sport and FUN for all :)

I think what you guys need for this event is the Oklahoma "A" Team.

Wow, is that a picture of all 3 caddies for McCoy, Coda and Peavey...It would be awesome if those caddies brought their players to this :)
Seriously, any help and/or participation from any and everywhere will be greatly appreciated...this thing has some awesome potential, not to mention what it can bring to disc golf for other events, we'll get the format nailed down soon

I knew either Wise of Furdog would jump on this.
So my thought was Wise was gonna nail it first.
I send him a PM,(Keep the Wise A cracks away from this one cause the sponsors may be logging on)
Now I know a little smack is gonna be here,And i'm only tryin to keep it clean for our guys.(So no Male Models please MC)
Anyway, 5 minutes after I PM Wise he calls,
FORGOT ONE !!!
I knew it,Furdog had struck.
I even knew at what,(Caliber of Golfer)I left myself wide open on that one.Gotta watch your P's and Q's around you two,Your quick.
That's alright,
Now we just need you two to be at this so we can show all these newcomers just where they can be after a few years of practice and effort.
Sitting behind the computer pickin on Arkies and Oakies.
What a team LOL!!! :D
Speaking of Teams
I can see who the AM's under 900 will be .Although if Scott would shave his legs he could make that other division (Sorry Melissa,But I bet he could turn some heads in a mini skirt too)
sschumacher
Mar 15 2007, 11:12 AM
But I bet he could turn some heads in a mini skirt too)
Only in Arkansas. :o
Sorry Pitch but you set it up so well I couldnt resist. You would have done the same thing if you were me. As for Wise,.well that guy just wants to ride around on my coat tails and grab the leftover glory and drips off my back. The guy always had some type of so called injury and spent his whole time in high school handing out towels in the boys locker room so what does that tell you?
As for this event, it sounds like a great idea but I dont think parading a bunch of Pro players in front of the beginners is really going to inspire them although a distance competition is cool. Why not make it fun before you focus on turning it into a competition?....Maybe you could also set up a 9 hole mini-golf course if possible for the truly young and get the parents involved.

Last time I checked it was the Okies who like to dress up young, red-headed boys in dresses and have them caddy for them. Oklahoma pedaphiles definately set the bar.

It is gonna be fun. It's ALL about fun.EVERY event is about FUN.
I'm having "FUN" just thinkin about it.
FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN !!!
You know if you write a word a whole lot it kinda gets strange lookin at it.Maybe it's the fact that it's 5:30 in the morning and i'm awake.Or kinda awake.
Anyway,
I think if we could get a volunteer we could have something like a dunking tank,Maybe DRESS him up like a clown,Shave the FUR off the gents back and make him bark like a DOG.He wouldn't have to be very WISE or even the MC of the day.THE gentleman could be treated to some MACK donalds if he could show off some TWO FINGER shots for everyone.
That would be SUPER don't ya think .
Hmmmmm? I can't think of anyone.
:D
I gotta get some more sleep,I'm feeling a little 28003.
BTW,loved the stereotype bit,Wrong, But funny.
evandmckee
Mar 16 2007, 12:56 PM
I like the dunking tank idea, we could PITCH a disc at the target to soak someone, if only we could figure out who
Also, the mini golf idea is great, we could probably just use some kind of object target but real mini baskets would be ideal....
does anyone out there have access to a few real mini baskets that could be borrowed?
sschumacher
Mar 16 2007, 02:31 PM
I'm giving away a gold DGA trophy basket at Chandler Stock. I might have a throw off with mini's for a dollar a toss or raffle it off somehow. You'd have to win it ;)....The thing cost me $85 bucks and I'm not sure I can get 85 people to spend a dollar a throw. :(.....Maybe I should just keep it for myself.
I think those plastic ones they had at Am Worlds were cheaper but I don't know if the club still has them or if they arrived and left with the PDGA crew. A small nine hole for like 8 and under would be cool but even if you only had one for like a Ring of Fire for the little ones it would work. You guys should have club mini's that you can give away to the kids and maybe they can throw off for some larger discs or maybe a donated new or used video game.
I can hand out some TDSA minis but that would mean the TDSA reserves the right to recruit any future Arkie talent to our side of the border. The air is thinner over here anyway which makes the discs fly farther. The reason you guys can't throw as far over there is because in Arkansas there is always a tree, donkey, mountain, chicken farm, or moonshine still in the way. :D

:DNot to mention that Oklahoma sucks so bad that when you throw towards the center where it realy sucks it tends to suck the disc making it fly farther, we're always throwing to the east so that also puts more drag on our throws not going as far :D
I made some pretty cool homemade mini baskets for trophies but they were very labor intensive not to mention that they looked cool but didn't catch worth a crap...we'll figure something out but mini golf is definitely going to happen...
May 5th is confirmed, Our benefactor says that he'll have additional sponsors on board by next week-end, hopefully we'll be slapping flyers everywhere the following week, not to mention 4 large radio stations plus more media...
It'll be a definite festival atmosphere

Looks like the tourney is gonna be called "THE VIBE INVITATIONAL"
It also looks like I need to be in radio(They loved my re write of the promo add)
YOU'VE SEEN EM AT ALMA,
THEY'RE ALL OVER TILLES PARK
NOW THEY'RE INVADING BEN GEREN
YOUR NOT SEEING UFO'S PEOPLE
"IT'S DISC GOLF"
AND IT'S TAKING OVER ARKANSAS !!!
Hey!!!
I need to borrow 9 baskets from somebody.
Does anyone know where we can borrow 9 matching baskets for the little layout ?
I'd like for them to match and make it look right. If we get as many people as we're expecting we could have 3 courses of 9 to play going on at the same time.
The little short 9 will be for the kids.
ALSO!!!
We're gonna need volunteers to walk these people thru the round.
ESPECIALLY the kids.
I told the radio folk we need a HOOK for this event(Like give away a car or something kinda hook)
If we had this type of situation we'd see a thousand people.
Between the 4 stations pumping this up Ben Geren will turn into a zoo.
(ANYBODY BEEN TO THE KISR KITE FLITE ? )
This could be that big of a crowd and I think that's what's being targeted.
SO!!!
If we get that one special HOOK I was speakin of we're gonna be bombarded with people.
WE'RE GONNA NEED HELP"MAJOR HELP"
I thing we can see the future of Disc Golf in AR exploding tourney wise if we pull this off. We're getting one big fat shot to pull this off right.
If we do this these guys will be at any and every event we ask them to be AND will be able to rally up those sponsors we need to make those dreams of SuperTour events take place.
Can you say "ADDED CASH" ?
I thought you could.
Baskets and Volunteers PLEASE.
Lets do this !!!!!

So if I come down there on Friday night will there be a dog house available to sleep in?....I normally require a double wide for all my guest appearances. What about Pitch's place? Does he offer room service? Is it ok to pee on the floor? Can I bring my guitar and amp and keep the neighbors up all night? What about you Evan?....What kind of free lodging can you provide? Will there be a place to park my limo? :).....Maybe we could discuss a trophy design for next years Chandlerstock.

I don't blame you for not flying, jet fuel's getting expensive even for super stars such as yourself

I might be bringing my caddie Twoputt who is currently spending 30 days in a Jamaican jail for relieving himself on a public Jamaican beach. Don't worry though, he'll sleep in the limo. Our Charity for the "Vibe Invitational" brought to you by McDonalds and The Western Arkansas Disc Golf Association is confirmed as being the Community Services Clearinghouse... They will also be selling concessions during the event.
FORMAT:
entry will be 5 non-perishable food items or $5, it will get the first 300 participants a commemorative golf disc and 9 holes of disc golf
other contests will also be ran ( 1 non-perishable food item or $1 entries) including putting and CTP contests.
A long drive contest will also be offered (not sure of entry or format on that yet)
Educational Seminars done by Tom Pitchford, Jr. (I'm sure he would welcome help with that) will also be done.
this is more an opportunity to get people that have never played and beginners to learn about disc golf but anyone and everyone is welcome to participate, it's not really a "traditional tournament" however awards and prizes will be offered for at least the 5 best score finishers along with prizes for the various contests.
Divisions will consist of Ages 8 & Under, 9-11 yrs. old, 12-15 yrs. old and Adult (16 & up) all of these divisions will be offered for men, seperate (but same age definitions) will also be offered for ladies.
Flex start from 8am to 11am, awards ceremony at 1pm (tentative)
we need all the help and volunteers that we can get, no experience required, it would be awesome if some of our area's better players could also assist and provide some "WOW" for the inexperienced participants and spectators
The Vibe 102.7 is promoting the heck out of this thing on radio as well as other media
Anyone wishing to volunteer to help, post, PM or e-mail me at

We're having another meeting next tuesday night .
We really need alot of help.If we get 2 to 300 people out there running around it's gonna be crazy.
Whoever shows will take a position from 8:00 am to about 11:00 am.
We're allowing 3 hours for the games to be played.
I'm hoping all this is enough to handle whatever happens. We'll all exchange cell #'s for communication. If someone needs to move around we'll make sure someone else can cover.
We're gonna try to have all the gaming go on right in front of us.The only thing we shouldn't see is the play of the back 9.This is where xtra help may be needed also.Walking players thru who don't have a clue as to what to do.It'll keep it flowing quickly also.
If we had in all 20 to 25 volunteers we'd be in good shape.
All the volunteers should have access to the best parking area and should be there by 7:00 am to get a little game plan together.
I think it would be cool if we all had the same colored shirts but we didn't get that done.SO! Wear your areas club shirts to represent where your from. This would be cool for the people to see exactley who's from where. That is if you have one of course.
Every volunteer will get a disc and i'm hoping for WAFDA to spring for the party.(Maybe the radio station will kick in too)Either way it's gonna happen.
I'm making the phone call right after this post to the park people for trash cans porta potties and golf carts.
Oh yeah,If you have a club banner or something to represent your area bring it too.
See ya!!!

I'm sure that anyone can actually play, we might need to throw in an "experienced" division!!
Our main goal of this remains to introduce people to the sport however the same can be said in introducing people that already play to WAFDA
Chances are that we'll have some really good players in the mix and everything in between including 13 year olds or younger that might have never thrown a frisbee much less a disc
I think that if FurDog makes it down Friday that we could have the most epic disc golf battle ever fought at Ben Geren , a glorious match it will be, we will have perhaps the worst rated disc golfer in Arkansas and perhaps one of the worst in the world (see my 06 Am Worlds Finish ) against one of Oklahoma's worst player's (not 2putt, talkin about FurDog) - we can finally prove who the worst really is :) We can probably charge admission to this and use the proceeds to put a coveted prize up for grabs, say perhaps a sixer of Pabst :cool:History could be made, Statehood pride can be won or lossed :D

My plan is to go down there on Friday afternoon, play a round of golf, and then mooch some food and Arkie beer off of Evan and Pitch. Then, sleep through the event on Saturday, grab the best young talent I see over there and smuggle them back to Okieland. Make some room in your basement and throw in some sheep and pickled pigs feet so they feel right at home. I figure 2-3 months to de-Arkie-fy them. As soon as they're ready we'll set them up with a 30 year old moble home, a barefoot pregnant wife, a broke-down pick up truck, and food stamps. They may not look like true Okies at first but we'll set them up with a free goverment dental plan and maybe someday....who knows!!! :) :D

I also plan on spanking any Fayetteville donkeys that show up. By the time I'm done there will be donkey body parts scattered all over the course. ;)....At least the BBQ places will be happy with all the free donkey meat they'll be getting. :o/msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif.....Those of you who blew off Chandlerstock may want to show up at this one if you don't want your entry fee doubled for next year. :D....I'll be bringin some leftover air-biscuits for you all to chow down on so come hungry. :D

You're the one who chokes on the big one when you travel out of town. :o....This will be my first time in Fort Smith and I don't see DFL happening. :p....I got these Arkies right where I want them. If you had any guts you'd throw in some cash as sponsorship to a worthy cause. :o.....Giving me your cell phone number and telling me to call you if I need advice is worthless because I've never seen you leave Arkansas with anything other than a deflated sheep. :o;)

May 03 2007, 12:45 PM
You're right, giving you advice is worthless, you don't listen. :o
As for sponsorship in Ark, I'd wager I have played more Arky tournaments that about any other Okie over here.
And you're right, I haven't taken much out of there. You'll figure it out this weekend. The locals will have you all over the course and DON'T play in their little side games, they'll hose you big time. They only tell you the rules as they go and it always seems to change. :D

I don't think so Brillo Head. Right now as I speak those donkeys are gathering in their donkey pens trying to figure out what they're going to do. :o....The last thing they want to see is an Okie come over there and hog the spotlight in hogland. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif...You were never a threat because you always drove over in the morning and by the time you got there you had no game to give. I on the other hand will be infiltrating their course on Friday thereby giving me the required animal intelligence to overcome whatever defense they try and throw at me. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif...There will be an epic battle between Two Finger Slinger and I on Friday and if Pitch is there I will fill the Ditch with furlogs....I might give them a few holes to sucker them into a small wager or six pack of real beer but they will ultimately realize that I am not the chump that they are used to seeing everytime you show up. :p :D

May 03 2007, 02:58 PM
You keep telling yourself that, FurBallonio. I'll put money on the Two Finger Slinger to ride you around the course like I do back here. :o
Evan, wait until he has oh about a 20-25 footer, sometimes it can be as little as 8ft, you just have to get a feel for it, let him look at it, study it for a second, then say out loud, "Dollar!" :D
Its the 10STAR lock play of the weekend.
It will only take a couple of those and he'll try to challenge you. Just sink the putt and you can double your money very quickly. :D
After that, when he puts or has an upshot, stand about 25-30ft just on the very edge of his peripheral view, you don't have to say anything, just be there. You'll see what I mean. :o
So, now how much you want to put on it, hairball? :o

Being the only top rated Okie to attend this thing I will be glad to show the newbies my "One-Finger" side arm technique.
This will be an EPIC BATTLE between Oklahomo & Arkansas on Friday.
I am proud to represent my home state as the official lowest ranked DG'er & Reigning 2006 PDGA World Amateur Championship DFL CHAMPION (paid $200 something...in plastic :(, just because I accidentally shanked one in the basket from the tee )
My slightly worthy foe being none other than perhaps my equal from the parallel universe known as Okieville will for sure be humbled as he realizes what his "signifigant other" has always been telling him...2 Fingers is always better than 1 Finger....
Friday afternoon (Time to be announced)...Ben Geren Disc Golf Course, Tickets to become part of the gallery that witnesses History will be sold in the parking lot for a nominal fee, all proceeds will be used to payout the CHAMPION of this epic battle with Quality Arkansas 6 percent alcohol by volume Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer, this is not the only ADDED CASH , I've emptied my piggy bank and have upwards of 67 cents, one of the coins is even a wheat penny, the loser will recieve absolutely nothing and will have to be at the course the next morning at sunrise to gather the eggs from our Disc Golf Baskets and make sure that the roosting chickens that reside in them at night are transported to the slaughterhouse so we can eat em' at Pitch's BBQ after Saturday's fine festivities

You might want to bring a gas mask because I'm eating beans before I come over. :o....I don't know where I'm staying out yet. Why don't you and Pitch flip a coin to see who's willing to put up with me and give me a wake up call in the morning. :(....I'll be bringing my guitar so I'll be willing to entertain whomever is willing to put me up for the night.....I'll even buy the beer.....I'll be taking off work about 12:30 but I probably won't be on the road until about 1:30 or 2pm. What is it like 1-1/2-2 hours to get there?...I've also got some cool Chandlerstock merch for anyone that's interested in bartering in return for some Arkie merch. :)

If you're buying the beer, you will stay at my pad
Your time frame is about right, I plan on leaving work around 3 and going to Ben Geren, won't have a cell on me, you should be able to find it, about anyone in town can tell ya how to get to the park ;)

Blake's H.S. Baseball team plays at 230 today. Win and we play tomorrow, lose and I can come down.(if you need my assistance)
I would like to catch a ride with someone if possible.

I know that we can use you and anyone else that wants to come on down, and would greatly appreciate the help. The radio station did tell us to honestly expect 200-300 people, and with the $1000 from McDonalds we have 300 discs to hand out. We are expecting a crazy day, but this is going to be really big for the sport. We would really like to have someone to send out with each group of players to show them how to play, so you should get in some good practice if you are in that setting. We also need registration help, people to run stations, AND of course folks to SHOW-OFF at the distance comp!!!
It really should be great fun and a good day for DG. Also last word was Pitch is throwing a good after-event bash at his house!!

I looking forward to meeting some of you Arkies that I've never seen before. Sorry I couldn't get any other Okies to come with me. :(.....I will be on the road in a few hours for the showdown between Evan and I. Anyone who wants lessons on DG according to Furdog, bring it. ;)

Hey Darrel, Watson's supposed to be coming, not sure when, might call him if ya need a ride
Blake, GOOD LUCK!! Hope you kill em', even if it does keep the old man at home, we need senior citizen's like him to show that the sport is for any age though :D
My hound dog can't wait to have company in his dog house tonight, he should be able to bring FurDog out of heat and send some mixed breed Arkie/Okie pups back to Okieland ;)

I'm headed ot to the course to practice my patented mental yoga to prepare for the massive SHOWDOWN
I'm sure my opponent is running late as a ploy to consume more liquid courage which he will need, lil does he know that I will use this down time to spread HOG lard on his favored side of all the tee pads, move all the baskets to the 800 foot lefty positions and remove the tee-signs so that the 1 time that he might have the box he will surely misplay the course so I may penalize him /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
