whats the answer? cuz the water would freeze?
I'm thinking 'cause everyone on the ship would freeze.
Besides, you can't transfer heat from a source to a sink unless the sink is colder than the source.

All profits from his food company, Newman's Own, $250 million+, given to charities worldwide since its inception in 1982. And don't forget the "Hole in the Wall Gang Camps" developed for children with cancer and other diseases.

Newman was successful at just about everything he did. He was a ladies man and a mans man. When you took your girlfriend to the movies she would melt over his blue eyes, while you were admiring how cool Eddie, Luke, and Butch all were. Not many like him left, Sean Connery is about the last now.
50 years with the same woman, a successful actor and director, he was Hollywood; and refused to get caught up in their egos. He started racing at an age when most are retiring from the sport, while not a marquis driver he succeded. I'll mention again his donations to charity, which his daughter maintains in his name. Proof good guys can and do finish first! Newman definitely had what so many celebrities now sorely lack. Class!

Za,
The post was not intended to offend. What caught my eye to the news post was the fact while people in this instance both my children were tested for dyslexia when they were in grade school. The results were negative, but both were still determined to be "Slow Learners". Most of this was based on their reading skills, my son's math skills however were always several years ahead of his cohorts. In first grade he was even doing his sisters math homework (3rd grade level) in his head, what she was unable to do on paper. Slow Learner? I knew then the teachers were wrong, and I'm sure school administrators were ecstatic when my son dropped out his sophomore year. He was failing after missing 30 some odd classes anyway. The school didn't notify us that he was skipping until he had already missed 20 days, and was going to have to repeat anyway... But that is another subject I could rant on about our education system and not what this is about. After failing a court ordered GED and working at Mickey D's for two months, school started looking pretty good. He enrolled in a correspondence school to take 3 years of high school classes. He would receive the books, hole up in his room, study, and take the tests. My job was to check his test. All I would do is tell him questions 3, 7, and etc are wrong. I would not tell him the correct answer at all. He would then go back, study some more, retake the test and send it back to the school. He finished the 3 years in just under 24 months with a 3.75 out of 4.0 GPA. These were standard HS courses with the exception of language, he opted for additional Business classes instead. He missed the deans list his first semester in college by .2 points. So some one tell me again how he is a slow learner. Instead maybe if the test for dyslexia had been modified or tested for this gene his education experience may have been more gratifying and rewarding ie Wharton School of Business?
My wife for all her faults, such as bad taste in men ;), is one of the most logical people I know. However it is up to me to read and explain all contracts, notices, etc to her. She flat refuses to read them, yes she was Special Ed too, and tested negative for dyslexia, and was even called stupid by some of her teachers. Something that still sets bad with her, (Pick on her all you want, she'll fire it right back. Hell she has to, she's had to contend with me all these years...but call her stupid and your everlovin butt is mine.)
Since everyone has graduated it's not worth the time and effort to have them tested for this defective gene, but the article sure hits home.
I hope everything goes well for your son, and if anyone ever calls him "stupid" please slap em one more time for me. For everyone else if your child has been determined to be Special Ed, Learning Disabled or whatever your school district wishes to call it, keep fighting for their rights of a decent education. There are programs for those with dyslexia.

My bother was diagnosed with a form of dyslexic as well. When he was in elementary school the teachers and the admin use to call our mom in regularly and tell her that he was learning disabled and need to be in the "children with disabilities" classes. Back then that pretty much meant he would ride the short bus to school. It pi$$ed my mother off to no end. She would tell them he was not mentally retarded (which is what they were saying), he just had problems understanding written word. She refused to allow them to hold him back. He did his work and passed his grades, but he struggled.
He graduated from college as a veterinarian. A tough degree to say the least. He put himself through college, and had to spend about 25 to 50% more time studying, because he could not work his way through written word as easily as others. Several years back he was invited to attend a study program by the US government. Very few doctors or vets get this offer. Of the approximately 20 invited to participate only 5 generally complete the program. Of the five that complete the program only 1 is asked to continue study. It is a program to study pathology and try to figure out what diseases do to animals and people. This group is also involved in finding solutions to germ warfare. My brother is now one of those people.

FWIW:
Last year at this time I stumbled across a really cool way to light up a carved pumpkin. After carving the faces on our gourds, I was digging around looking for candles to put in them when I found some little lights that look like safety reflectors for bikes. They come in several colors and they also have a colored flashing light (maybe a LED?). I turned on 3 of them (a green and 2 reds) and put them in the pumpkin instead of a candle, and WOW!!!! They were definately the coolest on the block! We did several more gourds with faces and put lights in them all. We used different color combinations and they were all fantastic. The flashing effect with the different colors showing up randomly was awesome! I'm really looking forward to this year's effort.
Try it, it's cool!

good call... also something that works and is wicked bright are the 'terrapods' from BlackJax (the glo disc golf company)... the terra pods are made to be used to attach to poles, mark tees, wear on arms and use as minis... i've put one in a pumpkin and you wouldn't believe how bright it is (plus if you play glo it would be great to have laying around anyway)
http://www.blackjaxsports.com/
btw... these were the guys that ran the glo tournament @ winthrop Saturday of USDGC and had an 800% payout (or something in that range). The guys that were there will attest that these are great lights/products!

i have spent so much time
folding bad cards and eating my words
i've said some awful things to some real good people
that i no longer have a problem admitting when i am wrong
and can just sit back and wait for the next deal to come
and if the worst thing in my life
is long-a[/b]ss rides and hug filled good-byes
and i can still be mystified
by pretty smiles, crushes and mix tapes
then i guess things really aren't so bad
POSI-CORE at its best. F-YA BANE!

There used to be a guy up the street from me that did AWWWSUMM! pumpkins. He would carve his desired designs a few days before Halloween, then put them in the deep freeze. When the water crystals were frozen it would make the pumkin translucent. Once a candle was placed inside they would have an eerie effect. He would do about a dozen or so and line his sidewalk on Halloween night. The neatest one, although not traditionally Halloween was done in filligree using a Dremel tool.
Unfortunately you have nothing but orange slush the next morning if you leave them out all night.

Pat,
In post #876344 on 09/25/08 @ 09:23 AM, it was explained that since the resignation of Communications Director Peter Shive from the PDGA Board of Directors, Executive Director Brian Graham is taking all message board appeals, and has responsibility for the message board. The moderators report directly to him.
After that post was made, you later posted in the *very same thread* the following:
its not good to have Graham doing both levels of appeal.
So at that point, you *clearly* understood that the moderators do in fact report to Brian Graham. Why do you now insinuate otherwise? It's just a little ridiculous that you falsely state that the "the moderators do not currently report to anyone" when one month ago you fully understood that they do.

Another weird misunderstanding! (or alternatively, another intentionally misleading post)
Where have you read that moderators "could not post from your moderator account?" Why are you under that impression? Moderators use thier moderator accounts for replying to questions about the process and "official" business, which this most certainly qualifies as. They are however asked to create and use a personal account for general public posting purposes, especially on "hot-button" issues such as politics, religion, etc. The intent is to avoid misconceptions that the views expressed by moderators somehow represent the "official" stance of the PDGA. By using personal accounts, the separation makes it completely obvious that any personal views expressed have nothing to do with the PDGA.

Silly Moderator, it is far more difficult to troll with facts. Besides, half-truths and innuendos create the illusion of truth and make it easier for the reader to draw false conclusions.
Once you call the troller on the half-truths, they post something like this.

Two minor earthquakes shake DFW
Dallas-Fort Worth residents received a pre-Halloween scare as two minor earthquakes shook the area overnight.
The U.S. Geological Survey says a 2.5-magnitude earthquake centered in the Grand Prairie area was reported at 11:25 p.m. Thursday. A slightly stronger 3.0-magnitude quake centered in the Irving area occurred 36 minutes later.
Law enforcement agencies across northern Texas said they received some 911 calls from concerned residents but no reports of damage.
Irving police spokesman David Tull said his agency received about 25 calls around midnight from people inquiring about the vibrations, which set off car and building alarms.
Grand Prairie and Fort Worth officials also reported no damage. "We just learned about it on the news this morning, said Dawn Atkins, a Grand Prairie emergency dispatcher.
USGS geophysicist Randy Baldwin said the quakes, which lasted only a few seconds, most likely felt "like a lightly loaded truck passing by, kind of a sharp jerk and then a rapid vibration."
Irving resident Christine Laughland said she was sleeping when the earthquake woke her up. She's from California and wasn't too shocked by the vibrations. But she couldn't say the same thing for her dogs.
They were barking hysterically because it was their first one, she said.
Reports of the quake also came from Dallas, Euless and Hurst and Fort Worth, Mr. Baldwin said. Aftershocks could last several days. There is also a possibility of more smaller quakes in the coming days that no one would likely feel.

interstate at high speed with a dog hanging on to the tail gate for dear
life..
She said if he hadn't been going so fast in the other direction she
would have tried to stop him.
A few weeks later her son sees the same truck at Bass Pro Shop!
The guy is a taxidermist!
Poor taste perhaps, but it is an eye catching advertisement.

what is a "sassa"?
A tree found in the SE United States along the Gulf Coast. The bark or "fras" is harvested and pulverized into a fine powder, much like cinnamon. It is primarily used as a thickening agent in soups and stews such as gumbo.
It can be found in most grocery stores sold as either File (fee-lay) Gumbo or sassafras.
Great care should be taken in northern states where it is sometimes harvested from densely populated urban areas from the closely related Imgawnakikyo tree. This is usually found on the street as Imgawnakikyofras.

You should read my posst and watch the video's I post to know I am not some tin foil hat guy.
I only offer the education on subjects, I don't alway say how I feel about them. Most of the time I am very skeptical.
In the video posted today, it shows how the FDR conspiracy was formulated, then shows the other side of the story, in effect casting doubt on the conspiracy theory.
You can watch the video and decide for yourself. As it is, this conspiracy is over 50 years old and did not come back into the light until some of the classified documents were made public.
(I had never heard this theory till last year)
