Funkytown Flyers Club meeting .

This Thursday, the 26th of April

Trinity park , 7th street entrance , @ the pavillion on the 1st parking lot . The pavillion is adjactent to the duck pond.

We will meet for a brief meeting , to go over the actions of the B.O.D. , and the work we have been doing since we met last . Go over some new topics , and most important , get the club together for some fun.

The ace race is simple ... I have set up 9 holes which we will all play twice. All are very aceable . All are very fun. This will not be like anything you have played before. It will be a nice blend of natural and " urban " obstacles , with some interesting lines through some interesting spaces .

The entry is 6 dollars , 4 to pay out , 2 to a tee sign sponsorship which will be awarded to the winner .

The meeting will start @ 6:30 sharp, the ace race will be soon to follow .

All that plan on attending , and consuming alcoholic beverages , prepare to abide by the laws currently enforced by the good folks down @ Ft Worth P.D.

I blasted into Rootball, the dead stump on cedar hill's beaver course hole one from less than a foot away. A hard flex shot over it turned into a hard flex shot into it. It was like Donnie's ashes getting dumped out in Big Lebowski. A true kodak moment.

One of my personal favorites. When he drops the ferret in the bath tub, priceless !

There were a total of 22 participants.
Levi Tucker was the overall winner with a final blow coming in form of a sudden death play off.

It was a great time, the holes were fun, and everybody enjoyed themselves.

Congrats to Jennifer Tucker on her first ace ever, even though it was'nt worth squat....

Shot of the day by far came from Andres. On a second "shiggles" shot, he took a hot run at the ground, off the skip. off the tree in the bucket.... It was fun to watch. Especially when he called it .

I just wanted to report that we have our first confirmed case of chicken shizzle amongst the bag tag challanges.

Mr. Adam Murphy of OMB-YGB fame officially refused to chip in his #7 at the Flightline Open this past weekend. After numerous attempts to obtain the tag from Adam, he absolutely would not kick it in . I am assuming it is from the shame of his performance last weekend :D....

Hopefully some mutual contempt from the members should be enough to steer him back into the right direction :D:D

I personally will kick back 20 bucks to any member whom refuses to accept the bag tag challange , you interested Adam? :eek:

Wow, what a shock. That's the same Adam that de_stroyed the intermediate division at A to Z two years ago with another okey ringer. Definately the biggest bagging I've seen in my young DG career.

Ok Flyers Crowley needs your help. We are going to have a massive work day on Saturday June 16, 2007. There are alot of things that need to be done to the course to prepare for our first B-Tier event in August. I will post a list of things to be done in the near future. We would like to welcome anyone that would like to contribute their time and effort to making the course in Crowley a better playing environment for all players. Please bring all the gardening equipment you have. Weed Eaters, Clippers, Lawnmowers, Rakes, shovels, etc....

We will provide lunch for everyone that helps.
We will play the Saturday morning mini, then start the workday.

I'm more amazed at the few who come out regularly, but manage to leave theur tags at home. Today is Tuesday June 5, 2007. It is going to be a sunny day today with no rain in the forecast. Tuesday night mini tonight in Crowley. I have 12's basket fixed so we will play all 20 holes.

If David Kinter makes it out tonight, we will have 2 birthday boys playing in the mini.

Lee, Andre and myself all tied with a 20 under. I played like crap this weekend along with a lot of others. You arent going to cash playing 955 rated golf. The one bright side is that I was one of 2 people the whole day to go bogey free for all three rounds.

3 rounds in one day was way too much golf. :(

Perhaps you should turn the cell phone off on tournament days..... Drama + disc golf = 800 rated rounds...

FUNKYTOWNERS- I would like to have a discussion about where we are on getting another course and if it seems like that it is going to be a major hassle i suggest that WE put in the back 9 at Weatherford (maybe even with a few changes to the back set up). P.S.- How did a 1st year player get a course in Haltom City (THAT IS GREAT) before we COULD? Is Haltom City council just that much better than funky town? I look forward to seeing and hearing your responses!!

Dealing with a municipality is a lot easier ...
Remember the incident @ the Water Gardens a couple of years ago ???? That is our " major speed bump " with the city..

Also the course in haltom city would not object to some
funkytown baskets out there ....

Think about it , a blue level course and a gold level course .......

Why not put a course in a more central location? If your club is for the Metropolis why is it that everything is on the west side just asking? There are lots of little towns that I think would welcome a club that would provide a large portion of the expense to there city!

However, as a lifelong FW resident, I feel that parks in general are a low priority for the city of Fort Worth. That is one of the reasons I am planning on moving away from Fort Worth when I retire (in 11 years) It seems to me that green space only happens because it is legislated that it has to be there. :mad:

Another thing is that park does not have a club it would be a great place for Funkytown to call there own and be able to make design changes and the such!

I think weatherford could use a back nine, but after playing the minis at z-boaz the last three weeks we need a course in Fort Worth. The traffic issue is getting worse every month. Plus weatherford is a long drive for people who don't live around the 820 area. At least a 40 min drive from downtown. I know that Dave and PJ paid for the baskets but I don't think we should give up so easy on another course in Fort Worth.

Not giving up, it's going to take a while ....

Weatheford would give us a chance to make steady income , and put that towards the new course !

They had 8 people at the haltom city mini last night, which was there first mini. When Brit was running the weatherford mini I never saw more than 6 people there.

I think a large number of our members live by downtown or east of downtown, and I just don't see that many people driving all the way to weatherford to play in knee high grass.

Haltom Ciry cuts the grass every Friday.

I like the course at Haltom. I have NOT looked at the rest of the park but I would NOT be opposed to putting in 9 more baskets there.

Another thing to think about is that the Seabolts start the mini at 630 which makes it easier to attend for people that have to make it after work!

Had 13 players at the mini last night.

Justin and Myself took the bounty for the birdie on hole #5, so the bounty will move to hole #4 next week. This course will be great when we get the back nine in play.

I deserved those 2 950 rated rounds, But they dont matter because I won! And my third round I 3 putted on the last hole. So my second and third rounds where good. The round rating from the third round are a little messed up, we played the exact same course in the 1st and 3rd rounds, with a lot more wind the third round. But hey, none of that maters because I got my first win and cash all in the same weekend. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Sounds like almost a big mistake.

I had a 25 footer for birdie on that hole. it skipped out of the pan15 feet and rolled right behind a tree. So it was almost a big mistake. Win some lose some!

Congrats Miles! Thanks for making the trip to our corner of the world. I have never heard of Nick (Adv winner) playing so well consistantly...he finished in the middle of the pack in Int. last year. :confused: Before it started, I told all those advanced guys that shot under par that they could compete in Open. They think once its a PDGA event, the course gets harder or something.

Anyway, congrats again. Hope to see more of the Funkytowners next year :D

If yall would have posted that 9 open players were going to be there you would have had more people show up. That is a long drive to play against one person.

Hind sight is always 20/20. It wouldn't have surprised me if there were only 3 Pro's. I want to add more cash next year..so I'm expecting to draw more than this year. Mark your calenders :D

I droped because I played an easy course in Oklahoma where most of the field is double digits so the ratings are weak. Why don't they go off of an SSA instead of what the field scores? Weather does not make that big of a difference in how you play.

Congrats on the upward trend for you and Brice. As for Miles, he hasn't played enough events for us to see a solid baseline. He's learning faster than his rating is updated but still shoots sporadic rounds(low and high) so it depends on what's being doubled. His will even out in the next year....my guess is 975 golf right now (averaged).

C.Fles now knows how hard it is to stay within striking distance of 4 digits. 1 bad round and it could take months to regain what was lost in 3 hours.

DFWer Mike Sayre(top 5 in the world two times in the mid 90's) is rated 999 but wont be there after Athens is calculated. Opposite for Dixon Jowers. Not a lot of golf for him, but good golf being doubled reflects a high rating.

I should just not play an event for 11 months and play to my level of golf and I'm a 1000 rated player. It is easier for people playing in NTs and Supertours and players who only play 3 tournaments a year to get there than a player who should be 1000 rated and playes 10-20 B and C-tiers.

but much like Sayre in Athens, 3 of his 8 doubled weighted rounds will be rated 989 986 950! So if you choose to only play 3 events a year you better play at or above your rating. Not that it matters but those rounds are going to hurt him

the thing that gets me is when i have an "off" day, it always seems to be during a sanctioned round. which means that for a long while those rounds will destroy any rating i had.

You need to drop about 26 more points to play Int, and having bad rounds is on you. My third round at ardmore was deserving of a 950ish round buy my 44 which was just two off of the hot round should of at least been 998ish.
