You have been invited to enter the 2024 PDGA Amateur World Championships in Grand Rapids, MI from August 3rd to August 10th based on your excellent performance during the 2023 PDGA season. The PDGA and the local Worlds Team are looking forward to seeing you in Grand Rapids later this year.   

Host   

Jacob Stahl, aka The Disc Baron, and his team are excited to host the 2024 PDGA Amateur Worlds and are thrilled to have you spend some time in Grand Rapids this summer. Udisc ranks Grand Rapids, MI as the 13th best disc golf destination in the United States and 1st in Michigan. With a plethora of disc golf courses to choose from and tons of other entertainment to keep you occupied in town, you will surely not want to miss out on the 2024 Am World Championships here in Grand Rapids. Disc golf has been active in Grand Rapids since 1979 and it will be home to the 3rd World Championships hosted here since 1997. Jacob and his team have hosted the 2017 PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Championships in Grand Rapids, as well as the 2020 Discraft Great Lakes Open in Milford, MI. We look forward to bringing together the best staff throughout the state of Michigan to help support the 2024 PDGA Amateur World Championships and provide each player the best experience while visiting the Mitten state. 

Courses  

Earl Brewer Park DGC: The Earl Brewer Park DGC will be the finals course for the 2024 PDGA Am Worlds. This course is one of the oldest disc golf courses in town and has helped contribute to establishing a very active and thriving disc golf community in Grand Rapids. This course has seen several variations over the years and is currently set up with 18 holes and dual tee pads. Be sure to stretch out and warm up your arm before coming out to Earl Brewer Park DGC.  This course will challenge the best of the big arms.  Brewer offers many wide open fairways and the ability to let the disc get full flight. With the length of this course covering over 7,800 feet & 59 Par for MA1 and over 7,200 feet & Par 58 for FA1, you will want to take advantage of birdies when available. Wind and some elevation can come into play while enjoying the 18 holes this course has to offer. Earl Brewer Park is located approximately 20 minutes from the host hotel, with gas and convenience stores within minutes of the course and several food options or grocery within 5-10 minutes of the park. Wi-fi signals are strong at this course and you should have no issues with live scoring abilities.  The front of the park has several soccer & cricket fields available for warmup and practice before your rounds start. Drive for show and putt for your chance at a World Championships out at the Earl Brewer Park DGC! 

Fallasburg Park DGC: The Fallasburg Park DGC sits on the Flat River and has been a staple as a part of the Fallasburg Park for over 20 years.  The course has seen some updates and changes over the years but this course has sat relatively in the same design for its history. This 18 hole course sprawls through the woods, up and down a big hill with a mix of tight wooded fairways.  Navigate the trees and avoid getting off the fairway for your best chance at mastering this course.  The Fallasburg Park DGC spans over 6,200 feet & Par 57 for MA1 and over 6,000 feet & Par 56 for FA1.  With little out of bounds to worry about, nature is the only obstacle between you and a birdie.  Fallasburg Park sits approximately 25 minutes from the host hotel, with a gas and convenience store within a few minutes of the course. Several food options or grocery are located within 10 minutes of the park in Lowell, MI. Wi-fi signals are mixed at this course and some people's carriers struggle to offer signal throughout the course.  Some players may have trouble with live scoring.  There are 3 alternate holes at the course that are not being used for the event.  These holes can be utilized for warmup and practice before your rounds start.  There are also several other areas in the park that can be used for warm up should these alternate holes be filled. Over the river and through the woods to Fallasburg Park Disc Golf Course we go! 

Johnson Park DGC: Once used for the 1997 PDGA Am Worlds, this course was re-opened after several years of closure and it was updated with new tee pads and baskets for the 2017 PDGA Pro Masters Worlds as the backup course.  Johnson Park will be a test on how to manage elevation and the angle of your disc.  The park consists of many hills and challenges players to be able to navigate both up and down hill throws with precision and accuracy through several of the moderately wooded fairways. Stretching over 4600 feet and with a par of 54, Johnson Park is the shortest of the 4 courses used for the 2024 PDGA Am Worlds and scoring at this course is imperative. Johnson Park is located approximately 20 minutes from the host hotel, with food, gas, grocery and convenience stores within minutes of the course. Wi-fi signals are strong at this course and live scoring abilities. Unfortunately there is not enough space at this course for practice during play, but the other areas of the park next to the course have several open areas for warm up and practice putting. Enjoy the beautiful views from the top of the hills at Johnson Park! 

Grand Rapids Rotary North DGC at Grand Isle Park: The Grand Rapids Rotary North DGC was installed in 2015 on a former golf course.  Several of the old features of the golf course stand out, from using several old sand traps as new hazards and old tee boxes as new tee pads.  This course has hosted the 2017 PDGA Pro Master Worlds as well as several annually sanctioned events. This 18-hole course will be getting brand new baskets for the event.  This course does have rubber mat tee pads as it is in a Wetland Area and Protected Watershed Area. Relief will be allowed off of the tee pads at the players discretion. The course plays through a beautiful wetland area with several holes with natural and artificial out of bounds.  This course plays on mostly flat ground; through clearly defined and mostly open fairways.  For both the MA1 and FA1 divisions, the course length is approximately 6100 feet and will be a 56 Par for MA1 and 59 for FA1. The GR Rotary North DGC has a large area for warm-up before your round and the park offers ample grass parking. The course is located approximately 20 minutes from the host hotel, with food, gas, grocery and convenience stores within minutes of the course.  Wi-fi signals are strong at this course and you should have no issues with live scoring abilities. Enjoy the wildlife and calming sounds of the Grand River at the Grand Rapids Rotary North DGC! 

There will be a cut after the 4th round and the final round will take place at Earl Brewer Park DGC on Saturday, August 10th. All rounds will utilize tee times. There will not be a final 9.

Player’s Meeting: The player’s meeting/opening ceremony will take place at the Sheraton Grand Rapids Airport Hotel on Monday, August 5th at 7pm.  

Check-in: Check-in will be available on Sunday, August 4th from 10am to 5pm and Monday, August 5th from 9am to 6pm at the Sheraton Grand Rapids Airport Hotel.  

Travel  

Those flying to Amateur Worlds will find the Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR) as the easiest and most convenient way to reach Grand Rapids by air.  GRR is located within 30 minutes of all tournament activities.  Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) is another option for flying into Michigan, but it is approximately a 2 hour and 30 minute drive from Detroit to Grand Rapids. Both the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport (AZO) and the Capital Region International Airport (LAN) are smaller airports that are approximately 45 minutes from Grand Rapids.

Field Events  

The field events will take place at the Grand Rapids North Rotary Disc Golf Course at Grand Isle Park in Belmont, MI on Sunday, August 4th. Times for the field events will be from 9am to 3pm on Sunday, August 4th. If you decide to test your skills at the EDGE event, the latest start time is 2pm.   

Longest Drive and Putting: Drive for show or putt for dough???  No need to decide, wWe’ve got both covered at this year’s 2024 Am Worlds Field Events.  Do you think you have the biggest arm?  Are you the best putter in the world?  Put your skills to the test and see if you can throw the furthest or if you can make the most putts. 

Skillshot: The SkillShot® program is presented by the EDGE program to test your throwing skills and proficiencies. Throws include backhand, sidearm/forehand, roller, upside-down, straddle, kneeling/seated, freestyle and obstructed will be scored by your accuracy to a certain target or area. Get ready for the week and practice those skilled throws that you will use throughout the week at the Skillshot Field Event.  Challenge yourself to improve your game and better your skills that you can take with you on the course throughout your Championship week. Do you have the most accurate shot?  Step up to the SkillShot® Field Event and show the world that you have the skills and accuracy needed to win this event!  

Mixed Doubles 

Mixed Doubles at Am Worlds will be held with two rounds on Saturday at Grand Rapids North Rotary Disc Golf Course at Grand Isle Park. The players meeting will be at the course at 9am. Both divisions will play best shot the first round and alternate shot the second round. Get a great start to the Championship week by staying loose at a course that will challenge your placement and accuracy. What a great way to get into the competitive spirit by challenging fellow competitors to become the 2024 Amatuer Worlds Mixed Doubles Champion. The field is limited to 36 doubles teams.  

It is also important to note that you must be a current 2024 PDGA Member and Certified Official before you can register for the event! 

Entry Fees: Fees for all divisions this year is $150.  

Other Events: Other fun events during the week include Baseball Night at the Ballpark, Players Dinners, Flymart, Glow Golf, Flex Start Events and many more!
