Obama also will not where and American flag pin. I guess he does not want to be president. There is no way a lot of people are going to vote for him now.
If we pick the MSM [Main Streem Media] candidates that they ram down our throat, we will have a choice between the corrupt Hillary and the corrupt Rudy.
BTW, in straw polls, Rudy never even comes close to winning them, even the ones in New York. How come he is the media darling. He does not even let media in on his fund raising rallies and does not do free rallies like the other candidates.
BTW, for those of you in the Penn area, Ron Paul is doing a HUGE rally on Nov 10th.
And don't forget
Remember, Remember,
This 5th of November,
The patriot money-bomb plot.
For Ron Paul's the reason,
That this campaign season,
We're giving it all that we've got.
Send one hundred dollars,
And tell talk show callers,
To answer sweet liberty's call.
Remember, Remember,
This 5th of November,
Give one hundred bucks to Ron Paul

Note, the lady at the beginning is Carol Paul, Ron Paul's wife, she states how the Ron Paul supporters were unable to get any tickets. Yet there were still cheers for him mixed in with the boos.

Because he's more concerned about doing the right thing, rather than looking like he's doing the right thing? People getting worked up over something like this shows that it isn't substance that gets people elected.
And I guess we should also go after people named Timothy and Terry too, right?

What, you mean unless you put that little flag in your lapel you aren't really a good American or capable of leading this country?
I swear, I am not a communist, and that we should burn every one of them Bolshevik bums!
I agree with Tony, Barack is saying something here. And in typical fashion, Rush L. is labeling him with a horrible name. Rather than deal with the issues that he raises, call him a communis... I mean Sadam-Osama.
BTW - for those who think that Barack should toe the Red White and Blue line, you should try China. Move on over. There they throw you in jail if you don't absolutely support the party line. You'd fit right in.

BTW - Let's not forget the Don Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney skipped fighting for this country and GW Bush might as well have. These guys are Red White and Bluing it up the wazoo and yet have lied to us, illegally spied on us, held innocent civilians in brutal jails. Basically, they've all forgotten that they swore an oath to uphold our Constitution. Apparently, saying the Pledge of Allegiance doesn't make you a very good American. And by the standard set by by GWB, it makes you a pretty poor President. :D

Remember, remember the 5th of November
as of this post, the Ron Paul campaign has raised nearly 3 MILLION bucks today.
Not pledges, HARD CASH.
It looks like we might just set a new record for the single best donation day in this presidential campaign and maybe even the all time highest primary campaign day ever.
And this was not even organized by the campaign. GRASS ROOTS BABY.
BTW, RP raised 5.2 million last quarter, we are at 5.72 as of right now in 36 day.

There are several from the DFW area that will be making the drive. Most of us have met Robert Paul and support him at each speaking engagement he has done. I will however not be able to attend. I am beyond broke and am trying to not go bankrupt.
I would attend if I could afford to take the day off. I could easily get a ride, I just can't take any full days off right now.
Go, it will be worth it. I bet 100 to 200 people show up for sure. Maybe even more. The more that show up without Ron Paul even being there, the more the local news will pick up on it.
On top of that, Robert is a great guy, I have talked with him several times over the last few months and only wish he lived closer than an hours drive or he would be my family doctor. He keeps us informed of the family by telling us what he and his mother talk about.
The latest was Robert went down to south Texas to shoot some more commercials over Thanksgiving. I think they got the whole family in for this one.

Sunday at the Oklahoma Capitol a State Rep who happened to be in the building and saw the rally text messaged Charles Key and said he wanted to come up and endorse Paul.
In his speech he mentioned that he believed in Dr. Paul, but also that he was giving his support based on the voice of his constiuants who "overwhelmingly support Ron Paul for President"

BTW, Pat has campaigned for Ron Paul in the past, his wife is reportedly working on the Tancredo campaign and Pat is going around promoting his new book and has stated he will not endorse anyone because he is a commentator, he can't tie himself down to one campaign.
The great part about that is he gets jobs and is able to mention Ron Paul and his policies to the MSM.

This was written in 1963
The turn will come when we entrust the conduct of our affairs to the men
who understand that their first duty as public officials is to divest
themselves of the power that they have been given. It will come when
Americans, in hundreds of communities throughout the nation, decide to put
the man in office who is pledged to enforce the Constitution and restore
the Republic. Who will proclaim in a campaign speech: 'I have little
interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I
mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I
propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.
It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel the old ones that do
violence to the Constitution, or that have failed in their purpose, or that
impose on the people an unwarranted financial burden. I will not attempt to
discover whether legislation is "needed" before I have first determined
whether it is constitutionally permissible. And if I should later be
attacked for neglecting my constituents' "interests," I shall reply that I
was informed their main interest is liberty and that in that cause I am
doing the very best I can. - The Conscience of Conservatism Barry Goldwater
wow, no wonder Barry Goldwater Jr. is ENDORSING Ron Paul.

ok guys, Ron Paul is the most popular candidate in the Disc Golf message board, now it is time to donate a few buck SUNDAY to protest all the taxes we pay.
The LiberTEA Party is SUNDAY. DONATE WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD.
There is over 31,000 people signed up to all donate. When we raised 4.3 million on Nov 5th, there was only 17,000 signed up [37,000 donated on the 5th]
Last I hear, there were over 100,000 different people who have donated to the campaign. Some with as little as 10 bucks.
What can you afford.
BTW, I got a call from Mr. Jim today. [you know, the guy who I give royalties to very month] I figured he was going to ask me something business related. NO, he wanted a Ron Paul yard sign for his house in Plano. His son is a Ron Paul supporter and Mr. Jim even told me he would probably vote for Ron Paul in the Primary. Now we have more money... What's the chance some of it could be used to buy national tv air time? A superbowl commerical would probably be too late in the game.
We need something that could grab everyone for 15mins or whatever it is. The purpose being to lay out where we are as a country and explain exactly what Dr. Paul stands for, including details of proposed plans that would directly effect the lives of people on a personal basis.
The truth is powerful and will only attract others. Maybe a few long commericals to run on the networks during hand picked programming. Cable channels? Infomercials (Who hasn't set around and watched a million of these, they have to work why else would they be on all the time!!!)
Maybe I am dreaming, but who would have thought a blimp would be flying around with "Google Ron Paul" on the side.

Now check this out.
Bhutto interview article (http://www.parade.com/benazir_bhutto_interview.html)
Despite the corrosion of her reputation by corruption and compromise, Bhutto appears to be Americas strongest anchor in the effort to turn back the extremist Islamic tide threatening to engulf Pakistan. What would you like to tell President Bush? I ask this riddle of a woman.
She would tell him, she replies, that propping up Musharrafs government, which is infested with radical Islamists, is only hastening disaster. I would say, Your policy of supporting dictatorship is breaking up my country. I now think al-Qaeda can be marching on Islamabad in two to four years.
They are reporting today that al-Qaeda has claimed responsibility.
So she supported Ron Paul's foreign policy over the Bush policy.

yea, too many video's on that last page.
RP was polling an average of 6 percent in Iowa. We didn't expect to do all that well there. We knew the evangelist would support Romney and Huckabee. On entrance polls, 60 percent called themselves evangelists. That is a bunch.
Polling 6 percent and getting 10 percent of the vote is a win for Ron Paul. On top of that, he was only 3 percent from 3rd place.
McCain and Thompson both did better than I figured they would do.
I also thought it would be a little closer between Huckabee and Romney.
Rudy did even worse that I thought he would. He is not polling well in any state till Jan 29th in Florida. And the Huckster has been pushing that down.
The RP campaign is happy with our turnout in Iowa. This is a campaign that no one expected to come even this far. The big test for RP is New Hampshire. We need to do better than 10 percent there.
The campaigns goals are to stick with it all the way though the primaries. If we can keep building on Iowa, we will make a difference. If anything, our voice's are being heard.

If Michigan had a caucus run under the rules that the Democrats used in Iowa or both parties used in Wyoming, Ron Paul would be my first pick. But, I'd know enough about the front runners to know who I was going to vote for after he got eliminated.
In the past I never got a chance to vote for candidate like Ron Paul because the Michigan primaries always came too late for the 5 to 10% candidates to still be in it. I hope he is in for the cause and does not pull out after a few fourth place finishes. He could get third in New Hampshire.
Everyone was thinking that Romney would be a lock in Michigan, but after telling bald-faced lies in the dabate last night and having them exposed on NRO today, I think he's going the way of pretty much every other bazillionaire who has set out to buy himself a presidency. When your strongest backers are saying, "Well, that was a lie and he knows it," that's not a good sign.
With the diversity of viewpoints and personalities represented in the Republican field, this Republican primary could go the distance with no candidate getting more than 30% of the delegates. A 10% guy could have some clout at a convention that actually has to pick a candidate rather than just coronate the candidate.
Pizza, don't let your guy give up.
bredemeyer
Jan 06 2008, 06:09 PM
Oklahoma is in the same boat. Our primary is late, and we only have a few delegates to offer. Consequentally we are mostly ignored. I would love to be able to get the face time that the people of NH and Iowa get with the complete field.
I have no doubt there will be a sea of Ron Paul supporters at the national convention. Dr. Paul may yet seek the nomination of the Libertarian Party who I am sure would love to have him. In that case he would most likely not be on the balot at all in my restrictive home state.
The bottom line is that the message is out there and people either dont know or care. It is hard to rap my mind around someone who wouldn't support a candidate that wants government to drastically reduce the role in our lives. Are that many people really dependent on handouts? Unless you plan on winning the powerball, NO ONE can privide for you better than yourself.

Bruce, that is the plan for this election. We know there are too many war hawks in the republican party. Ron Paul is not going to win any states. [well stranger things have happened]
This is the plan, run a 50 state campaign and our supporters work to be delegates at the state conventions; No single candidate is going to get 50 percent of the vote.
At the states level, work to get our delegates to the National convention. There will be the regular vote, no one will get 50 percent, then there will be another vote.
Different states have different requirements for there delegates. So the 1st and some second and even a few 3rd votes the states delegates have vote for there popular candidates. But as each vote is taken, those delegate can vote for whomever they want.
This is how Eisenhower was elected. This is how Pat Robinson almost won a few years ago. This is OUR best chance for ''Hope For America''
Ron Paul is old
Ron Paul is not a very good speaker
But Ron Paul does not pander.
Ron Paul will vote FOR the constitution
He can put America back in the Right direction.
No more being the bully of the world.
No more legislation pushed though by the lobbyist. [well congress could over ride is veto]
It is important that everyone VOTE. It is more important that you become involved in the Republican Party and work to become a delegate.
I am now a Precinct Chair for the Republican Party. I will be running the Precinct Party on election night. I will be attending the Senatorial Party at the end of March. Hopefully, god willing, I will be attending the State Convention in Houston. Then a miracle could happen, I could become a State Delegate and attend the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis-Saint Paul MN.
I might even cut my hair for this one.

Even the Gays for Ron Paul know and trash this kid with some damaging evedence. (http://gays-for-ron.blogspot.com/2008/01/jamie-kirchick-i-dont-think-ron-paul-is.html)
this stuff is old news. It is stuff that gets pulled up every time Ron Paul runs for office. He has spoken about it several times and has the article mentions, it has been written several times, including by Time and Texas Monthly that the wittings were not his.
As Ron Paul has stated in the past, he lent his name to a few publications. He did not always see what they wrote under his name. Unfortunately, they were not always good.
In the past month, Ron Paul has publicly stated in at least 3 interviews that Racist are ''Small Minded Ideas'' and that they are ''Sins of the Heart''.
Here is some recent quote on the house floor from Ron Paul
Racism is simply an ugly form of collectivism, the mindset that views humans only as members of groups and never as individuals. Racists believe that all individual who share superficial physical characteristics are alike; as collectivists, racists think only in terms of groups. By encouraging Americans to adopt a group mentality, the advocates of so-called "diversity" actually perpetuate racism. Their intense focus on race is inherently racist, because it views individuals only as members of racial groups.
http://www.lewrockwell.com/paul/paul381.html
http://www.lewrockwell.com/paul/paul68.html
the problem that we have with dealing with this subject is we see people as groups, as they belong to certain groups and that they derive their rights as belonging to groups. We don't get our rights because we're gays or women or minorities. We get our rights from our creator as individuals. So every individual should be treated the same way.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_positions_of_Ron_Paul
Now the question is, do you really feel these are the words of a racist.

I like Ron, but I had to laugh at this from the Star Wars Guide to the Candidates... (near the top of the Craigslist.org 'Best of' list)
"Obi-ron Paul-obi
Widely respected for his stubborn belief that the whole universe should be run just like his neighborhood on the backwater planet Tatooine, Obi-ron spends a lot of time wistfully remembering the Old Republic. He practices a peculiar interpretation of The Force, in which reducing government to only local control and returning to the gold standard is the answer. Obi-ron reluctantly returned the contributions of the Tusken Raiders and Jawas, whose politics of ethnic slaughter and droid slave trade he justifies as "states rights". While his anti-Empire foreign policy excites the Rebel Alliance, it's pretty much a Jedi mind trick. He's still a crazy old guy living in the desert."

Well, not as good as we would like. I was hoping to do better than 5th, but was not expecting 3rd after the drop in poll numbers this weekend. [I am not quite sure how that happened]
One thing I think the campaign was counting on, but is not happening, is low voter turnout.
For the 2nd state in a row, record turnout. In fact NH has more than double the expected turnout. It looks like we are getting the number of voters we expected, but more people showing up at the polls than expected gives us lower numbers than we wanted. Specially in a state we had hopped to do well.
On to Michigan. Come on Bruce, get everyone you know to vote for Ron Paul

I have spent most of the day working on paperwork and reading emails. I have not seen what kind of an impact that article posted earlier might have made today to keep some of our less informed ranks from voting.
ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA In response to an article published by The New Republic, Ron Paul issued the following statement:
The quotations in The New Republic article are not mine and do not represent what I believe or have ever believed. I have never uttered such words and denounce such small-minded thoughts.
In fact, I have always agreed with Martin Luther King, Jr. that we should only be concerned with the content of a person's character, not the color of their skin. As I stated on the floor of the U.S. House on April 20, 1999: I rise in great respect for the courage and high ideals of Rosa Parks who stood steadfastly for the rights of individuals against unjust laws and oppressive governmental policies.
This story is old news and has been rehashed for over a decade. It's once again being resurrected for obvious political reasons on the day of the New Hampshire primary.
When I was out of Congress and practicing medicine full-time, a newsletter was published under my name that I did not edit. Several writers contributed to the product. For over a decade, I have publicly taken moral responsibility for not paying closer attention to what went out under my name.

Israel to get "smarter" U.S.-made bombs than Saudis By Dan Williams
Sun Jan 13, 9:11 AM ET
JERUSALEM (Reuters) - The United States has agreed in principle to provide Israel with better "smart bombs" than those it plans to sell Saudi Arabia under a regional defense package, senior Israeli security sources said on Sunday.
Keen to bolster Middle East allies against an ascendant Iran, the Bush administration last year proposed supplying Gulf Arab states with some $20 billion in new weapons, including Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) bomb kits for the Saudis.
The plan has angered Israel's backers in Washington, who say the JDAMs, which give satellite guidance for bombs, may one day be used against the Jewish state or at least blunt its power to deter potential foes. Israel has had JDAMs since 1990 and has used them extensively in a 2006 offensive in Lebanon.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's government dropped its objections to the proposed Saudi deal in July after securing U.S. military aid grants worth $30 billion over the next decade.
Two Israeli security sources said the United States further mollified the Olmert government with an "understanding in principle" that future JDAM sales to Israel would include advanced technologies not on offer to Saudi Arabia.
"We are checking which of the top-of-the-line JDAMs will become available to us. The agreement is that Israel's qualitative edge will be preserved," one source said.
The spokesman for the U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv could not immediately be reached for comment.
Shlomo Dror, spokesman for Israel's Defense Ministry, declined to give details on any specific defense deals, saying only: "The Americans are certainly taking steps to help us preserve our technological superiority, as is Israel."
JAMMING
Robert Hewson, editor of Jane's Air-launched Weapons, suggested Israel might be interested in American innovations aimed at making JDAMs immune to jamming attempts.
"The great unspoken fear is that you can come up against an enemy who knows what he is doing when it comes to countermeasures," Hewson said. He added that Israel is currently the only country in the Middle East believed to have JDAMs.
U.S. President George W. Bush was due to visit Saudi Arabia on Monday as part of a Middle East tour he hopes will shore up Washington's efforts to isolate Iran over its nuclear projects.
In Israel and the Palestinian territories last week, Bush worked to foster bilateral peacemaking but also discussed Iran, which denies seeking nuclear weapons but whose president has stirred war fears by urging that Israel be "wiped off the map."
Israel used JDAMs extensively in its 2006 offensive against Iranian-backed Hezbollah guerrillas in Lebanon, requiring urgent U.S. resupplies. Surprise setbacks in the 34-day war prompted Israel's top brass to order an overhaul of the armed forces.
Believed to have the Middle East's only atomic arsenal, Israel has vowed to deny Iran nuclear weapons and hinted at the possibility of a strike like its air force's 1981 bombing of Iraq's nuclear reactor.
According to the Internet site of JDAM manufacturer Boeing Co, recent enhancements to the kits include laser navigators and glide wings that allow jets to drop the munitions from a distance of more than 40 miles from the target.
Saudi Arabia does not recognize Israel but signaled a softening of this stance by attending a U.S.-hosted conference on Palestinian statehood in November.

Bryan, no controversy or debating here, just an honest question that I'm curious to know what you'd say. I know your a supporter and you want to see him win and everything, but even you have to admit he's not exactly walking away with the presidency right now. In fact, some would say he'd be lucky to be the #3 guy among republican candidates. My question is, why do YOU think that is? The reason I ask is because you are the biggest supporter of RP I know of, and I don't know enough about him, or his history as a candidate to say. He's always struck me as the kind of guy that has some good ideas but is stuck out on the fringes like a third party type. Why Ron Paul might not win
1st - he is not a Socialist
2nd - he does not change his platform based on popularity.
3rd - He does not change or base his vote on lobbyist.
4th - He actually will answer any question you ask him with his honest opinion. Even if it is not popular.
5th - He is against the Federal Reserve.
6th - he is a congressman
7th - he does not speak all that well.
8th - He does not use a speech writer, if you heard him say it, he wrote it.
9th - He stated the reasons we were attacked on 9/11. No one wants to hear it, they want to think our actions have no blowback.
10th - He is actually too smart.
11th - He want to return us to some sort of gold standard. [actually he would like to see competing currency and let the free market decide.
12th - He is Honest.
13th - because he is for Transparency in Government, the 9/11 Truthers support him
14th - He wants to pull out of Iraq NOW. For some reason, most Republicans are brainwashed in thinking Iraq had anything to do with the war on terror. They don't realize, the longer we stay there, the more likely we will be attacked again.
They attacked Spain, they pulled out.
They attacked England, they pulled out.
They attacked Australian citizens, they scaled back.
All attacks were because of Iraq, the reason we have not been attacked is because al-Qaida is targeting those that support US.
When we pull out, they will go back to attacking each other and Israel. Unless the Israeli government gets there head out of there butts and treat the Palestinians people like human beings.

Well, you have a good handle on him then. Ron Paul is a Libertarian who got elected to Congress by running as the candidate of the Republican party. He is a principled Libertarian too. During the campaign he has also endorsed the Libertarian position of eliminating drug laws, pardoning people who are in federal prison for non-violent drug crimes, phasing out the Social Security system, pretty much eliminating the federal government except for those portions of the government that are required by the Constitution or necessary to protect the country from foreign invasion.
Hey, did you see that he won Nye County in the Nevada primary? He came in second in Nevada.
I thought the media coverage of the primaries this weekend was hilarious. All they could talk about was their candidate's "big win" by 3 percentage points in South Carolina where he got less than 1/3rd of the vote, and not a word about Nevada where he lost to Ron Paul, and got smoiderized by Romney.

I know, it was pretty funny. I didn't hear much RP talk personally, all I heard was how "miraculous" Mcain was. But no mention really of why he won, which is because it was open to the indi vote. My biggest fear is Mcain will make it as rep nom, then Billary beats him in the general because of the indi vote is gone by then. IMO Billary would defeat Mcain in a general... RP doesn't have a very good chance (I'm being polite for a change) but like I said, I'd take him and his "third party ideas" over Billary or Barack any day. For the first since '84 I don't have a favorite, I just don't want to see either one of these two as president:

Bruce, we won a county in Iowa and NH, in fact, we were 3rd in both for counties won.
Bruce, you have also done your homework, bravo. Even mentioning the only Federal non violent drug offenders. Some seem to think he would release all offenders. He will not overrule State Laws. A lot of people don't understand that.
I would argue the Libertarian notion though. He is not a true Libertarian. He is a Classic Republican like Mr. Republican, Robert Taft, Ronald Reagan, or Barry Goldwater.
Robert Taft lost to Eisenhower in 52
Barry Goldwater came from behind to get the nomination, only to loose to LBJ.
Ronald Reagan lost to Ford in 76, then barely won the nomination to go on and trounce the Democrats.
Even Bush Jr. ran like a Classic Republican in 2000, but he did not do what he said he was going to do about the boarders and policing the world.

Ron Paul was one of only 4 Congressmen to endorse Ronald Reagan in 1776 for President. You need to know what RR stood for
favored tax cuts - so does Ron Paul. In fact, Reagan introduced the larges tax cuts of all times. He cut the top tax rate from 70% to 28% over seven years.
favored smaller government - so does Ron Paul. In fact, non-defense spending as a percentage of national income stabilized throughout Reagan's term, breaking a long upward trend.
favored fewer regulations - so does Ron Paul. In fact the number of new regulations added each year dramatically decreased when Reagan was president.
advocated free markets - so does Ron Paul.
Reagan believed that the American economy was hampered by excessive economic controls and misguided welfare programs enacted during the 1960s and 1970s.
"In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem." Ronald Reagan 1981 inauguration
That is a VERY Ron Paul like quote.
Ron Paul has often mentioned Reagan's "peace through strength" ideas as good and preferable over the current Preemptive strikes.

On the economics front, Paul is a delightful paradox. If you crack the nut shell and look objectively at what Paul is really advocating, conservatives will find that Paulonomics looks an awful lot like Reaganomics. Paulonomics emerges as a refreshing return to conservative roots: small government, low taxes, deregulation, and sound money. If Paulonomics seems nutty, that may say more about the sad state of events today, with big government conservatism having become the new touchstone.

Jane Roe Endorses Ron Paul on Roe v. Wade Anniversary
January 22nd, 2008
Ron Pauls consistent pro-life stand throughout his years in congress not to mention his years as an OB/GYN has won him the support of Norma McCorvey, who was Jane Roe in the Supreme Courts Roe v. Wade decision thirty-five years ago today. She has since become a pro-life activist, leading Crossing Over Ministry (formerly Roe No More Ministry). Heres what she says about Dr. Paul:
I support Ron Paul for president because we share the same goal, that of overturning Roe v Wade. Ron Paul doesnt just talk about being pro-life, he acts on it. His voting record truly is impeccable and he undoubtedly understands our constitutional republic and the inalienable right to life for all. Ron Paul is the prime author of H.R. 300, which would negate the effect of Roe v. Wade. As the signor of the affidavit that legalized abortion 35 years ago I appreciate Ron Pauls action to restore protection for the unborn. Ron Paul has also authored H.R. 1094 in Congress, which seeks to define life as beginning at conception. He has never wavered on the issue of being pro-life and has a voting record to prove it. He understands the importance of civil liberties for all, including the unborn.
After taking all of the presidential candidates into consideration, it is obvious that Ron Paul is the only one that doesnt just talk the talk. For this reason and those stated above, I am publicly endorsing Ron Paul for president.
so there is no confusion. Ron Paul has always been pro life. HOWEVER he does not believe it should be a constitutional amendment. He would leave it up to the state. He understands that this is a very controversial subject and recognize that the more controversial a subject is, the more local it should be ruled on. For this reason, it is really a states rights issue. That is what Roe vs Wade was, it was Roe suing to have an abortion in the state of Texas. The Supreme Court then ''legislated from the bench'' and forced states to allow abortions. Watch Ron Paul on The View for some GREAT points on this subject. He nearly changed there minds and had them respecting him by the end of the interview.
Congress has tried to do this with a [censored] marriage constitutional amendment too. Ron Paul introduced legislation to make it where one state does not have to recognize another states marriage.

Ron Paul is very much in the mold of Barry Goldwater, and Bill Buckley too. Ronald Reagan was more pragmatic.
So when I got home from work tonight, about 30 minutes ago, I went looking for the news on the Lousiana caucus. Pretty much only Ron Paul campaigned there. Given the complete media blackout on the results, does that mean that Ron Paul won?
Here's another irony from this election year: of the six states that moved their Republican primary and caucus dates way up so they would get more attention, the mainstream media has pretty much maintained a black out on three of the six. Of course, those were also states where their candidate got skunked.

This is from the news:
"Prior to the tabulation of the provisional ballots, the uncommitted "Pro-Life/Pro-Family" slate appeared to win a majority of delegates in all seven congressional districts, the state Republican party said."
I guess in Louisiana they don't vote for a candidate and then apportion delegates, but vote for slates of delegates based on the delegate committees' respective platforms.
There is also a primary later on in Louisiana that factors in somehow. It looks like the news media is not reporting on the Louisiana process because no one understands how it is supposed to work.

Arlo Guthrie endorses Ron Paul for President (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_7C0QGkiVo)
I love this guy. Dr. Paul is the only candidate I know of who would have signed the Constitution of The United States had he been there. I'm with him, because he seems to be the only candidate who actually believes it has as much relevance today as it did a couple of hundred years ago. I look forward to the day when we can work out the differences we have with the same revolutionary vision and enthusiasm that is our American legacy
BTW, the link is to a video posted by Arlo's wife [Mrs. G] of 38 years.

We have opened a Ron Paul HQ in Ft. Worth and yesterday in North Dallas, well actually Addison, right next to an early voting location :D
The cool thing is the Addison location is in my stores delivery area. :D
The next cool thing about these, neither have anything to do with the Ron Paul PAC, both are grassroots baby. Of course we got signs and some slim jim's from the campaign, but we also have our own t-shirts and lit we made up.

bruce_brakel
Feb 11 2008, 10:58 AM
The reported Washington caucus results are the result of the "beauty contest" and not the result of the caucus itself. Washington caucuses on a precinct by precinct basis. First they vote for their preferred candidate and then they select two delegates to the state convention. The delegates are not bound by the caucus result. In some precincts they only have two people volunteering to be delegates. So if, for example, the precinct vote was McCain 12, Huckabee 8, Ron Paul 2, but only two people volunteered to be state convention delegates and they were a Huckabite and a Paulist, McCain would not get any delegates even though he won the precinct. According to the guy from Sound Politics, it frequently happens that the delegates going to the state convention from any precinct do not even indicate their candidate preference before getting the nod.
So you cannot conclude anything about delegates from the vote count.
Meanwhile, Huckabee is challenging the completely irrelevant vote count because they quit counting the votes after 87% of them were counted.

BTW, one of the caucuses that the straw vote went to McCain, all the delegates elected were Ron Paul guys. These guys go to the state convention and elect delegates to go to National. We have several reports like this.
Only about 1/2 of the Washington delegates are selected this way, the other 1/2 will go to the primary vote later this month.

I just got back from the PACKED house Ron Paul speech at University of North Texas.
It was to start at 3pm, I got there at 2:20 and there was already a line with 100 people trying to get in.
They only let 1000 people in the door, it filled before 3pm and they were sent to a secondary overflow room that I have no idea how many stayed there. They were suppose to have it televised in that room. I do know RP went and spoke to them personally after the main rally.
Afterwards, a bunch of us hung around outside the student Union at the Liberty Bell. Everyone took turns ringing it till RP was done with the press. RP came out and rung the bell with his Wife Carol. Then for 30 min he signs autographs and took pictures with people. Even the University Police guys had there picture taken with Dr. Paul.
It was a very good speech and the crowd was 80 percent students which was GREAT.
It was a good day, I am still stoked about it. I think I will drive down to Killeen on Saturday to see him speak again :D

what a liar (http://chrispeden.org/compare.html)
Opposes the War on Terror and Blames America for 9/11
Ron Paul voted against body armor for our troops, and insists America is to blame for the 9/11 attacks. Paul wants us to gut the FBI and the CIA and have our troops retreat home as quickly as possible and as far as possible, which he says will make us safer.
Wow, talk about taking things out of context.
He does not oppose the War on Terror, well he does oppose calling it a war. Ron Paul has stated several times that he would hunt down those that harm us. If we are attacked by a country, he would ask congress to declare war, but before that, you can bet your bottom dollar we would retaliate.
Blames America for 9/11, WHAT, he has never said such a thing, he has stated only what the CIA and those that attacked us have said. Our Foreign Policies in the Middle East, especially Iraq and the base we had in Saudi Arabia are at the root of the problem.
The FBI and CIA were not able to stop 9/11 even though they knew about the possible attacks. The CIA has done some nasty things over the years including putting The Shaw back in charge in Iran. He would roll intelligence back into the Military where it should be.
Yes, he voted for the Military spending bill for more than one reason. 1st, if you don't fund the war, we have to pull out, 2nd - they attach other bills to that bill to push them through. That is how minimum wage was raised and one of the reasons inflation is so high right now [I told you back one year ago that would happen]
Yes, he wants to pull all troops out of the middle east NOW. And yes, those that actually know anything about terrorism can tell you that would nearly eliminate terrorism against America. However Ron Paul has also stated he would not stop looking for Osama bin Laden to bring him to justice. Remember, Ron Paul voted to send the troops into Afganistan to get bin Laden.
Opposes Traditional Family Values
Ron Paul voted against a ban on [censored] marriage and opposes defining marriage between one man and one woman. He supports the legalization of drugs that harm our children and ruin our families. Ron Paul has even suggested we legalize prostitution.
OMG, you can't be further from the truth. Ron Paul proposed legislation that would help keep states from having to recognize [censored] marriages from another state.
Ron Paul says that it should not be the Federal governments job to regulate drugs. This includes recreational drugs, that is up to the states. If a state like CA legalizes Medical Marijuana, there is nothing in the Constitution that says they can stop them. It is legal under the 10th Amendment. Oh, and by the way, Ron Paul has stated that drugs are bad, m'kay.
Ron Paul has never stated we should legalize prostitution, he has stated that it is a states right issue. Right now only one state in the Union has legalized prostitution. There is no Federal Law, plus that would be covered under the 10th Amendment too.
Refuses to Protect the Unborn
Ron Paul is not committed to protecting the innocent and unborn. He voted against prosecuting criminals who harm an unborn child while committing a crime not once but twice. Paul even twice voted against a ban on transporting young girls across state lines for abortions.
Wow, what an out right lie. He is endorsed by one of the biggest names in Pro Life people out there. He has also introduced legislation that would overturn Roe vs Wade NOW without an Amendment to the Constitution.
So, Chris is bashing RP for voting against a bill [that is a states rights issue] that would ''force'' states to prosecute someone who kills an unborn child when Doctors do it all the time
I do not know anything about this last sentence so I can't comment. Ron Paul has stated that Doctors who perform Abortions should be dealt with at the state level when and if Abortion becomes illegal.
Weakens Our Economy
Ron Pauls consistent votes against Free Trade agreements attack U.S. economic growth and they are exactly the approach that led us to the Great Depression. These Republican-sponsored trade agreements increased U.S. exports, created new jobs, and grew our small businesses yet Ron Paul opposed them.
This Chris guy really has no clue what he is talking about. These ''Free Trade'' agreements are not free trade agreements, they are managed trade. They are influenced by large corporations to make it so there product are the only ones allowed in or out. Anyone with half a brain would know that.
The Great Depression was about the FED letting banks loan out too much money. The stock market crashed because people panicked when they could not meet there margins. The Fed printed so much money, there was more money than gold available. Because of this, FDR took Americans off the gold standard, but still backed our dollar by gold to foreign countries. Yes, the Socialist FDR made it illegal to trade in gold, the Constitutions money.
Then he states a bunch of false information that can not be backed up. Ron Paul is AGAINST REGULATIONS THAT HURT BUSINESS. Most regulations on business actually keep out competition and small businesses. The tax laws and employment laws are what is driving corporations to move operations overseas.
THIS CHRIS PEDEN is a tool based on this one page.

See Bryan, something we both can agree on.
He also had enough balls to try to stop Friendswood from building their new police station / court annex / emergency management center. Didn't see the need for it, even though the old building was literally falling apart and overoccupied -- you had to go through the chief's office to get to the records room and two of the jail cells were used as storage closets. Then when he couldn't stop it, he tried to cut things out of the plans, like the backup generator.

The only things that look too fancy are the Dispatch center and the EC center ("the Star Trek bridge"). But when you consider that Friendswood is in the hurricane evacuation zone and it floods badly (TS Allison flooded the city twice in the same week), it's good to be overprepared for emergencies.

Well, did you all miss me.
2 things happened. 1st, I let my membership laps, opps. I renewed my Ace Club membership with mag.
2nd, the Texas Primary was yesterday.
I have not even looked at the totals yet to see how the areas we worked on did. I do know that Travis and Tarrant Counties both did rather well as of midnight last night.
So Monday, I worked 10am to about 11PM. I then took all the Ron Paul signs out of my snow covered truck and brought them inside my store to put the stake on them. I was wearing shorts and it was below freezing out there.
at about 1145 I headed out and put signs at 9 polling locations in North Carrollton.
So I headed over to the Addison grassroots campaign office to see if they needed any help.
I got a list of 30 precincts in Dallas Co off Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Coppell and Irving.
I finished those up around 6am as the sun was just starting to come up. I headed over to the HQ and turned in my left over signs, did 2 more in Plano and went home to go to bed 24 hours after I got up.
I slept most of the day, but did get up and went to the Precinct Convention last night.
As I was waiting with the others, not any of us had ever attended a precinct convention. In my precinct we had 5 people show up, me, my wife, 2 ladys who voted for Huckabee and one other guy that I think voted for Ron Paul. We all elected ourselves to attend the Senatorial Convention on March 29th and added I was able to add a lady to the list that is a Ron Paul supporter who was unable to attend that night.
I did not want to make waves so I only brought 3 resolutions with me.
1st was to support the 2006 Texas GOP platform
2nd was to support the Constitution in that we do not support UN police actions using US troops and we do not support war except in the case of Congress declaring it or when we are attacked. I will post the text later.
3rd was the Ron Paul Resolution.
all three passed, although the 2nd was a 3 to 2 vote.
We are getting reports from all over Texas that most of the anti war type of resolutions to stop another invasion of a country are passing easily.
We also got resolutions passed that end the Fed and even one in Tarrant County that said to close the Department of Agriculture.
More on that later.
We are also very pleased at the amount of Ron Paul supporters who showed up and are going to the Senatorial convention on March 29th
The Revolution is continuing. We may have lost the popular vote, but will may win the battle.

wow, what a good article about Dr. Paul
Here are a few quotes
MSNBC article (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23485858/)
Paul scored a victory Tuesday night, crushing challenger Chris Peden in the Republican primary in his Texas congressional district.
Pauls victory in his heavily Republican district means the 33-year House veteran will be around for at least another two years to voice his dismay both at Americas overseas entanglements and at Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernankes policies
Im still involved, nothing has changed,
He can not support McCain because I dont consider his positions to be part of the traditional Republican conservative platform.
Off and on for the 30 years, Ive been in and out of office, Ive asked the same questions and made the same points and there was no attention paid to it. But the last two times Ive quizzed Bernanke, I got national coverage, I get phone calls, people from the trading pits in Chicago react to it. They cheer me on.

I just caught this one.
I have not said my opinion on the violence in Israel yet, but have been watching the killing going on there the last few weeks.
However, even though Israel bombed Gaza and killed 23 kids last week, our Congress passed resolution 951 condemning Palestinians rocket attacks.
The vote
404 to 1
guess who is the ONE smart guy in congress
Mr. Speaker I rise in opposition to H. Res. 951, a resolution to condemn Palestinian rocket attacks on Israeli civilians. As one who is consistently against war and violence, I obviously do not support the firing of rockets indiscriminately into civilian populations. I believe it is appalling that Palestinians are firing rockets that harm innocent Israelis, just as I believe it is appalling that Israel fires missiles into Palestinian areas where children and other non-combatants are killed and injured.
Unfortunately, legislation such as this is more likely to perpetuate violence in the Middle East than contribute to its abatement. It is our continued involvement and intervention - particularly when it appears to be one-sided - that reduces the incentive for opposing sides to reach a lasting peace agreement.
Additionally, this bill will continue the march toward war with Iran and Syria, as it contains provocative language targeting these countries. The legislation oversimplifies the Israel/Palestine conflict and the larger unrest in the Middle East by simply pointing the finger at Iran and Syria. This is another piece in a steady series of legislation passed in the House that intensifies enmity between the United States and Iran and Syria. My colleagues will recall that we saw a similar steady stream of provocative legislation against Iraq in the years before the US attack on that country.
I strongly believe that we must cease making proclamations involving conflicts that have nothing to do with the United States. We incur the wrath of those who feel slighted while doing very little to slow or stop the violence.

It is amazing to me how a man can be this intelligent and still be essentially a Libertarian.
Did you know that the Cato institute (libertarian) wrote a white paper in the early 80's justifying the elimination of all public parks as a drain on the tax payer. Can you say no more disc golf?

I have always felt that Disc Golf courses should be paid for by Disc Golfers. That is why I have sponsored and purchased holes in Rockwall, Denton, Jimmy Porter [X3], Greenbelt [x2] and I think I did something for ZBoaz and some other courses. I also helped instal Jimmy Porter, Greenbelt, Samual Crawford, Zboaz, Arlington, Cedar Hill and maybe a few others I can't think of off the top of my head.
I do have policy of sponsoring a hole for any new disc golf course that the players are raising money for. We just have not had any in a while that I know of.

Yeah, but where would they put those pole holes without a park? 99% of our courses are in public parks.
The Adam Smith view of a full market driven society is as naive as the Marxist view of the world (libertarianism has it's base in Smith's writings). Smith has expectations that businesses will conduct themselves in a way that doesn't manipulate and take from government. This is as misplaced as the concept that everyone will work for the greater good (communism's central theme) and is the ultimate reason that libertarianism won't work. Big business utilizes big government highly effectively and in a way that is unfair in a democracy. This is why we need regulations, to keep the business/government relationship on par with the citizen/government relationship.

I for one believe that it is up to the people in a town to have a parks system. It would be voted on by a majority all the time. Shoot, bond elections are passed all the time by a majority no matter what they are for.
Private communities have private parks too. There are several parks in Carrollton that are small neighborhood parks that are NOT run by the City of Carrollton. The maintenance is paid for by the local neighborhood association.
In Las Vegas, one of the disc golf courses is located in a park like this. [Eagle Mountain or something like that without looking it up]

This is true, but with out a Parks Program, there'd be no Yellowstone, No Raineer, No Halfdome, No Grand Canyon. All of those places would be rich people homes, sort of like Jackson Hole is now.
There is no question that the Federal Government goofs up much, but the position that they have no value in areas such as Parks, business regulation, medical regulation, environmental regulation etc. is misplaced. We see the direct action of free markets in these areas all the time. Heck, we see the direct actions even when there are laws and there isn't enough money for inspections and enforcement. Go to:
www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/mcwane/ (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/mcwane/)
and watch the piece called A Dangerous Business Revisited on McWane industries. It clearly demonstrates how OSHA could not control this company and it wasn't until frontline put it out for the public to see that they began to clean up their act. Please don't come back with well, see the public fixed the problem. If our solution is going to be that the public monitors, the damage will be done in every case and the public will be stuck cleaning it up.

Wow, I have not posted on this thread in 2 weeks.
Well, a lot had been going on, not just in my life, but in the Ron Paul Revolution.
No, Ron Paul had not withdrawn, in fact he is speaking at the Nevada State convention and has some other campaign rallies going on in the next few weeks.
Most states have not held there conventions. The Ron Paul Revolution is taking over in several states.
I am on the State Delegate Selection committee for my district. About 2/3rd of the people we interviewed last night were Ron Paul supporters. Most of the others were Huckabee supporters.
In fact, we interviewed only one person who said they voted for McCain, and even that guy said he started a Romney supporter.
Our first question to every applicant. ''It looks like McCain is going to be the Republican Nominee, will you support him if he gets the nomination.''
Nearly every person [but the one] said they did not vote for him in the primary, but then none of the 4 of us on the Nominations Committee voted for him either.
Reports from all over the DFW area is that we may have 1/3 to 2/3 of the Senate District convention turnouts and several of our Resolutions that currently differ from the Texas GOP platform are making it past committee. [including closing the FED and Iraq pullout]
I will have more after the convention on Saturday

Five years ago last week, the US military's "shock and awe" campaign lit up the Baghdad sky. Five years later, with hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and nearly four thousand Americans dead, we should pause and reflect on just what has been gained and what has been lost.
From the beginning, the march to war was paved with false assumptions and lies. Senior administration officials claimed repeatedly that Iraq was somehow responsible for the attacks of September 11, 2001. They claimed that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. They manipulated the fear of the American people after 9/11 to further a war agenda that they had been planning years before that attack. The mainstream media was complicit in this war propaganda.
Nearly ten years ago, long before 9/11, I requested the time in opposition to the fateful Iraq Liberation Act of 1998, where I then stated on the Floor of the House of Representatives, "I see this piece of legislation as essentially being a declaration of virtual war. It is giving the President tremendous powers to pursue war efforts against a sovereign Nation." Less than five years later we were invading Iraq.
Five years into the invasion and occupation of Iraq , untold hundreds of thousands of Iraqis are dead; some two million Iraqis have fled the country as refugees; and the Iraqi Christian community one of the oldest in the world has been decimated more completely than even under the Ottoman occupation or the rule of Saddam Hussein.
On the US side, nearly four thousand Americans have lost their lives fighting in Iraq and many thousands more are horribly wounded. Our own senior military officers warn that our military is nearly broken by the strain of the Iraq occupation. The Veterans Administration is overwhelmed by the volume of disability claims from Iraq war veterans.
A study by Nobel Prize economist Joseph Stiglitz concludes that the cost of the war in Iraq could be at least $3 trillion. The economic consequences of our enormous expenditure in Iraq are beginning to make themselves known as we fall into recession and possibly worse.
Iraq war supporters claim that the "surge" of additional US troops into Iraq has been a resounding success. I am not so confident. Under the "surge" policy the United States military has trained and equipped with deadly weapons those Iraqi militia members against whom they were fighting just months ago. I fear by arming and equipping opposing militias we are just setting the stage for a more tragic and dangerous explosion of violence, possibly aimed at US troops in Iraq . There is no indication that the Iraqi government has made any political progress whatsoever.
The sooner we withdraw the better. The invasion and continued US occupation has strengthened both Iran and Al-Qaeda in the region. Continuing down the road of a failed policy will only cost more money we do not have and more lives that should not be sacrificed. Interventionism has produced one disaster after another. It is time we return to a non-interventionist foreign policy that emphasizes peaceful trade and travel and no entangling alliances. We can begin by withdrawing from Iraq immediately.
And what happened right after this speech
If you don't know, you have not been reading the news out of Iraq. Things have gotten much worse at the moment. [yesterday a cease fire was called, we will see if it holds up]

Iran has been pretty quiet lately.
People seem to forget that Iran has a policy of not dealing with the United States. We are viewed as aggressors by there government. It is actually illegal for there government to deal with ours.
Yet, after 9/11 they denounced terrorism all over the world and several candle light gatherings were held for the 9/11 attacks.
And as RP stated in this video, Iran's government has been trying to help keep the piece in Iraq.
