Kristin Tattar wrote down that she wanted to win all of the PDGA Majors in 2023.

She would not be denied.

After four rounds at the Regulator course in Burlington, North Carolina, Tattar battled to the top at the 2023 United States Women’s Disc Golf Championships, becoming the first player in FPO history and second all-time to complete the season grand slam of winning all four PDGA Majors.

Tattar jumped into first at the end of Round 3 and once again came in clutch to maintain her lead and win the final FPO Major of the year.

Unlike previous performances at Majors this season, Tattar didn’t start with the early lead, instead finding herself in pursuit of Henna Blomroos all the way up until hole 18 on Saturday.

“In every other Major, I have been playing consistently very well from the beginning. But this time I had some struggles going into the tournament,” Tattar said when asked how it felt to be trailing in the first two rounds, “It was different but I knew that even if everything is not going my way, I can still battle through.”

While Tattar started the final round with a two-stroke lead, she still had another slow start as she shot even par through the front 9. Without a huge lead to rely on, Tattar picked up the pace and started scoring on the back 9, eventually finishing at 5-under for the round.

Over the course of the weekend, Tattar had the second highest birdie percentage and led the field with a 71% scramble rate and 13.48 strokes gained putting. Every player in the field struggled through the tight fairways of the Regulator course at some point throughout the weekend and Tattar was able to minimize mistakes while capitalizing on scoring opportunities to finish the tournament with a 3-stroke lead over second place.

Going into Championship Sunday, it seemed that the battle for first would come down to Tattar and Blomroos, but Ohn Scoggins started charging from third place to put pressure on Tattar. Even with Blomroos playing a slow final round, Scoggins made sure that Tattar couldn’t take her foot off of the gas.

“Ohn is always dangerous; she was having a very good round. Her shots were in the middle of the fairway, her putting was on fire and I knew that I had to step up my game and start to pick up some birdies to keep pace,” Tattar said of Scoggins, who started the day six strokes back but managed to get within two by hole 9.

Scoggins shot the hot round of the tournament at 8-under, giving the gallery a show as she birdied holes 6 through 12. Just weeks after dropping out of the World Championships due to injury, Scoggins now has two second place finishes at Majors in 2023.

Now with her second USWDGC victory and five consecutive wins at Majors, Tattar has accomplished something that’s never been done before in the history of disc golf. Tattar is now the first woman to win all four Majors in a single season with her victories at the PDGA Champions Cup, the European Open, the PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Championships, and the United States Women’s Disc Golf Championships.

In a season full of dominant victories and setting new records, Tattar has once again pushed the limit for what we thought possible for any single player to accomplish.

“I’m just happy to experience it. Sometimes I can’t even believe myself what I’ve achieved because it’s really hard. These ladies can all play amazing golf.”
