2023 DGPT - Preserve Championship Round 1 Recap

Saturday, July 1, 2023 - 08:57

Just a single bogey was marked on Catrina Allen's 10-under, 1031-rated opening round at the 2023 DGPT — Preserve Championship powered by Prodigy.

Ricky Wysocki didn't have a single par on his scorecard in Friday's opening round.

It was hot start all the way around in Minnesota.

With her hot start, the two-time PDGA World Champion holds a four-throw lead over Rebecca Cox and Kristin Tattar.

Consistency was the theme for Allen, ranking in the top five in major strokes-gained stat categories, including leading the field in strokes gained putting and strokes gained in C1X. 2022 Preserve champion, Tattar, experienced some putting woes inside the circle, which appears to be the primary differentiator for the reigning PDGA World Champion.

Ella Hansen will round out the second day lead card, shooting a 5-under 992-rated round on the first day of competition.

In MPO, the story of the round was Wysocki's par-free 15-under opening round. The 1082-rated effort separates the two-time PDGA World Champion by two-throws over 2021 PDGA World Champion, James Conrad, and three-throws over 2021 PDGA MJ15 Junior World Champion, Luke Taylor.
