How to Watch the DGPT - Des Moines Challenge
Twenty-five years ago, Scott Stokely and Juliana Korver took down the Des Moines Challenge.
Both players are in the field this weekend at the DGPT - TruBank Des Moines Challenge presented by Discraft.
A few years later in Iowa, Birgitta Lagerholm took down the 2004 PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Championships, becoming the first player born outside of North America to become a PDGA World Champion.
In more recent history, Missy Gannon won her first Elite Series title a year ago as the DGPT returned to Des Moines and Pickard Park.
More history will be made in under two weeks as the 2022 PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Championships kick off in Emporia, Kansas.
But first, Gannon, fresh off her Elite Series win at the Ledgestone Open this past weekend, has a title to defend.
“Next on my list is to defend my title at Des Moines," Gannon said in Illinois after her six-stroke win.
In MPO, Paul McBeth, who has nine top-10 finishes since his last Elite Series win in Waco, took down the 2021 title with a two-stroke win over Calvin Heimburg.
History has accompanied Des Moines disc golf each step of the way and after the 12th stop of the DGPT this weekend, up next is more history in Emporia.
