Mile Lane Disc Golf

A small course on private homes is at Mt Savage, MD. It is suitable for beginners and amateurs. The 18 holes are designed from six baskets. The course is moderately wooded.

It was created on a small parcel of private property (approximately 1.5 acres) that includes two homes. Don't hesitate to contact the course designers for opportunities to play the course if you live nearby or are passing through the area.

The best times to play are weekday evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays after 1:00. Other times may be available. When parking to play, the best options are right in front of the main house or the far driveway that leads to a two-car garage. Right in front of the garages are out of most paths.

This course was designed to maximize the property available and is best suited to amateurs or beginners. The more experienced player may find some of the holes technically challenging but may choose to move their tee locations further back. The course features many shared tees and six baskets (each used three times) for 18 holes.

While there are not many long holes, the course does offer some technical lines throughout the eighteen holes. This course is certainly not a "destination" course, but we hope to give the disc golfers around Allegany County a location to hone their skills. We also hope the course will be used for beginners to learn and enjoy the game.

TEES:
There are no tee pads on this course—everything is natural. Six tees are located on the paved Mile Lane, there are six holes with grass tees that are relatively flat, and six tees are located in the woods where you should watch your footing. The lower baskets/tees collect more water in the spring and after heavy rains so that the footing could be slippery during those times. Short tees correspond with each of the longer tees for a short and long layout.

BASKET ROTATION:
The course starts from a tee on the road (Mile Lane) at the top of the last driveway and will go to the black basket. The layout will proceed counter-clockwise around the baskets until you reach the blue basket. Now, you will reverse to the green basket and play all six baskets clockwise. After reaching the home basket (blue), you will play all of the baskets one more time without a defined pattern.

OUT OF BOUNDS :
Beginning in 2024, we added roads and driveways as out of bounds. However, individuals can play with no out-of-bounds in this course. The streams, bushes, buildings etc. are all casual. If the disc is playable where it lies, it should be played from that spot. If relief is needed, that will be appropriate. Discs cannot be thrown over either house. Any shot that goes over a house will be moved to the corner of the home nearest the thrower. If the disc lands in the stream, it can be moved to the location that it crosses into the stream. There is very little traffic on Mile Lane, but if vehicles are coming, your disc should be moved until they pass.
