Colorado Springs, Colo. (October 22, 2020)—USA Ultimate, in cooperation with the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA), announced today the establishment of a new event – the Ultimate Disc Golf Derby.
Essentially disc golf using approved ultimate discs, the event consists of a set of local tournaments in select markets that are connected virtually to a larger national competition using the PDGA’s round rating system. The result is a scoring structure that allows players and teams to effectively compete against each other from afar while playing on different courses.
The Professional Disc Golf Association and Innova Discs will present the $10,000 Toss, a chance for fans to make a disc golf hole in one for $10,000 on Saturday, July 19, at the MLU Championship Game.
“The PDGA is very excited to partner with Major League Ultimate for this special occasion,” said Brian Graham, President of the PDGA. “We believe the exposure the championship game is giving to disc sports is fantastic and we’re happy to join the league for this part of the event.”
