El Dorado Park Disc Golf Course

Course Reviews
This is the course I learned to play at and I just returned to play here after years away and the course has really gone down hill. We were greeted at the first tee by a group of homeless people playing cards drinking and harassing the female tennis players walking through the park. Many tee maps and distances are torn off or weathered away. There is 0 kind of indicators on where to head to find your next tee pad and only 2 or 3 baskets are numbered. We ended up throwing at the wrong basket several times and skipped a couple holes as we just got over the fact we couldn’t find the tee pads and there were no signs or markers anywhere. I didn’t hate this course and some of the holes are really fun to play and trees here are very challenging but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back. I may be spoiled by playing at Huntington Beach but I’d rather pay 2$ a day for a course that is well maintained then go to eldo for a rundown course. Really hope this course turns around as it is one of my most nostalgic to play at since I was younger.
Nice course with some length and a good crowd of locals. On the flat side - lacking the terrain variety of higher rated courses, but a for sure play if you are in the area.
I'm just starting to get out of my comfort zone and try new courses. El Dorado is one of my new favorites. The trees on this course really make you think instead of just grip it and rip it. My nephews like it because it makes it more of an even playing field. The markers are pretty well done but I would still recommend a map the first time out. The practice holes before the first tee are a nice touch too.
This course is definately on my favorite list. It is awsome with a lot of obstacles to manouver around. It also has a lot of open holes to throw your long shots on. Very clean and well maintained. It definately gets a 5!
Pros:
Nice parkland course with some challenging holes. A fair number of birdie holes too.
Front 9 is more technical with trees coming into play often - back 9 is longer, especially if they have the long basket in place on number 12.
Friendly locals, a fair number of people just hand out in the park playing leisurely rounds.
Fairly flat and good for beginners.
Cons:
Shorter course except for a few holes.
Terrain and views not special.
Notes:
Fun and laid back course, great for a social round.
One of the better courses i've played on.The trees make it challenging. I like it. Its free and I like that there is a pro shop if your looking to buy a disc or drink. They have course maps but you probably won't need it.
The trees on the front 9 make for a fun adventure, as you really have to think about each shot. Great opportunity to practice various shot types with all of the different ways the trees play in. The back 9, however, is much easier, in that you're usually just throwing across a field (with trees usually off to the side). For someone that is not a newbie, this course should be pretty easy.
For newbies, it's extremely easy to find the baskets/tees. Hole #12 even has an optional par 5 (but there's a shorter basket if you want to make the whole a par 3). The course has nice grass (compared to the dustiness of the Huntington Beach course) and is very green.
Really a 3.5 or so - but no option to do 3.5 here. Flatish course on grass with many trees to work around. Good length for some distance throws and rollers. Nice sea breezes (one of the pleasant courses to play in the summer around here). Not far off the 605 to get here. Two design issues - 1st hole can bring parking lot into play and last one is too close to the ball field for errant newbies. Does not have the type of geography to become a 5 rated course - but it is one of the top 5 in the LA Metro area.

2nd best course in the LA area next to La Mirada. Long and grassy. Trees and nice breezes. Nothing wrong with this place. Tends to get crowded on weekends... and even Fridays !
