Description

Located on the Albany Georgia Marine Corps Logistics Base (DOD ID required for entry), this course has two baskets per fairway catering to recreational players (red baskets) and advanced players (blue baskets).

A large putting and approaching warm up area with two targets located in a 2-acre circle drive with over a dozen mature pecan trees greet you as you get to the parking lot between tees 1 and 10.

12'x5' concrete tees, with benches on many of the tee areas are used to play the difficulty layout of your choice. The RED DGA Mach 7 targets average just under 300' on the par 57 5310-foot layout. The BLUE DGA MACH 7 targets will challenge players with more challenging (and very different in most cases) lines off the tee and tougher greens. The Blue layout averages almost 450' per hole and is a par 65 8041-foot layout.

Being South Georgia the land is basically flat, but the massive evergreen oak trees with their low broad hanging thick limbs dot almost all the course. With scattered pines sprinkled around, shot shaping is a premium on both layouts.

The signature hole of the front 9 is hole 8: the 553' par 4 with the thick oak canopies forcing a low tee shot off to the right side of the heavily protected red pin for a placement shot to the blue pin.

The signature hole on the back 9 is hole 18: the 553' par 4 ending hole tees out of a thick pine grove into a large field on mature pecan trees, looking open in the winter but spring - fall the trees are full and green. Players will have to commit to their line among the options presented by the trees, with eagle possible but unlikely.
