The course has since 2010 been upgraded with concrete tee pads and has permanent concrete alternate tee pads as well. they have a wooden post in the corner of each tee pad with a permanent number as some having an alternate b under the number on the tee pad. it got upgraded in 2012 or 2013. It has had since 2008 but may have made a new box that held the scorecards for the course made by the South Dakota State Park this course is on. helped with designing some holes in 10-18 with a few other local disc golfers my dad included and the head of that State Park back in July of 2007. Then in 2008 the holes were made permanent. Except the alternates were made a friend who still plays and the head of that State Park.

The Oahe Downstream Powerhouse Ally disc golf course would have been sooner if not for a man made problem with flooding due to the dams on the Missouri River letting one dam way upstream of the Oahe Dam nearly over fill with water from winter snowpack and having to over release water on down the line in 2011.

So this course is great! I don’t know that it is for everyone but for advanced players this course is a Jewel. I don’t want to say that is not for beginners because I believe that for many people the greater the challenge the greater the fun. It plays long so for people like me who do not possess a strong arm it can be that greater challenge.. There are several holes that require choices off the tee. There some holes that can be played left or right. Some holes you can take an open shot and go around or try and thread the needle. This is exactly what I like to see in a course.
It is in a nice, typical manicured park setting. There are good amenities. The course has many mature trees. I don’t know how many people come out to this park at $6 for a car load but I don’t think that was too much to pay for such a nice course. Just bring some friends to keep the cost down. Except for a few places where roads are near fairways, the designer did a nice job of avoiding conflicts with other park users.
I looked for a map but did not find anything online. I did not find a welcome sign with a map either. There are no markers on the tee posts to indicate what hole they belong to. There are no hole maps at the tee boxes, and there is no tee box just grass. This does not indicate which direction you should be driving off the tee. There were no maps available when I was there and without one it is was very difficult for me to find my way around. I am still not positive that I didn’t play from the wrong tee box for some baskets. I did play a couple of holes of my own tee and basket design combination and had to go back and hunt down the right tee and basket for some holes. These were some minor inconveniences to play a really nice course. I would recommend it to anyone in the area.
