Honor Above All

2025 Presidents Cup captains, core team announced

Thursday, March 20, 2025 - 12:28

Honor above all.

That was the original tagline when the Presidents Cup was created in 2006 and now, as a new era of the prestigious team event begins, those words ring even more true.

Under the direction of the PDGA, the 2025 Presidents Cup returns to American soil for the second time in its storied history on April 30 at Swenson Park in Stockton, California, ahead of the 2025 PDGA Champions Cup.

The storylines this year are deeper than ever.

COMPETITORS, COLLEAGUES & CAPTAINS

Over the past 20 years, Jussi Meresmaa and Avery Jenkins’ relationship has been multi-faceted.

They started as competitors, squaring off around the world on the course. They became colleagues, working together to grow a brand.

Now, they’re squaring off again, this time as captains for the 2025 Presidents Cup.

“I am truly honored and excited to accept the role of Captain for Team USA. This is an incredible privilege as I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead and stand alongside some of the best players in the world. I believe in the strength and determination of every individual on this team. It’s my commitment to provide support and guidance, always striving to elevate each member of our team to play to their fullest potential. Together, we will push boundaries, inspire one another and represent the United States with pride at the 2025 President’s Cup!” — Avery Jenkins, Captain - Team USA

“This is a new situation for me. As the creator of the Presidents Cup, I have never thought about being a captain. When I was asked earlier to be a captain, I didn’t quite realize what that meant and now, after thinking, this is a really cool thing. Now I can share this moment with one of my best American friends as a fellow competitor, fellow father, fellow colleague. It feels too comfortable right now. I don’t feel the fierce competition — it’s more of a friendship and honor. That will certainly change as the tournament approaches but now, I just feel honored that we’re going to do something cool together. The original tagline of the Presidents Cup was 'honor above all,' so I think that has come full circle for me. I am honored to be there.” — Jussi Meresmaa, Captain - Team Europe
