Mastering the Art of Disc Golf

Introducing the 2025 PDGA Member Discs

Tuesday, December 3, 2024 - 12:47

Inspired by the artistry of flight and the science of sport, the artwork for the 2025 PDGA Member Disc lineup combines each of the defining elements that make disc golf the sport that it is — a beautiful and technical challenge.

Disc golf has come a long way since its early days of target golf with traditional Frisbees, to the now modern era of highly engineered discs, chain baskets, and courses that challenge players on captivating terrains all over the world.

Leonardo da Vinci once said, “To develop a complete mind: Study the science of art; study the art of science. Learn how to see. Realize that everything connects to everything else.”

Da Vinci’s timeless words somehow perfectly capture the essence of disc golf — with a seamless blend of creative vision (the "art") and technical precision (the "science”), disc golfers everywhere are collectively weaving imagination, strategy, and discipline into the dynamic of our beloved sport, which in its own way, is a masterpiece in motion.

Da Vinci: A Fitting Inspiration for Disc Golf

The themes behind each of the 2025 discs — Member, Birdie Club, and Ace Club, aim to encompass not only the evolution of the sport itself but also the disc golfer’s individual journey on the course.

Famously known for his masterpieces and groundbreaking studies in the realms of art, engineering, and anatomy, Da Vinci’s multidisciplinary brilliance became the basis of inspiration for the PDGA’s collaboration with Mike Inscho, Art Director at MVP Disc Sports, in designing three distinctive artworks.

Each design uniquely reflects the harmony of creativity and precision — two defining characteristics of disc golf. Featuring intricate sketches of concepts, mechanics, and equipment, paired with subtle references to Da Vinci’s iconic reverse mirror-writing, these artworks honor his visionary legacy while celebrating the artistry and skill that have shaped our sport.

Beyond their aesthetic appeal, each of these discs feature MVP's GYRO® Overmold technology, which redistributes mass to the outer rim of the disc, creating a powerful gyroscopic effect. This innovation enhances flight stability, glide, and precision, enabling players to achieve consistent, controlled throws while elevating their performance on the course.

  • Member Disc (R2 Rhythm): From then until now, the 2025 PDGA Member Disc connects us to the foundations of the sport. Honoring the evolution of the basket target, the history of disc golf, and the engineering innovations that have shaped the game into what it is today.
  • Birdie Club (Eclipse Hex): Disc golf requires precision, focus, and discipline — hitting your target with accuracy despite challenges like wind or rain, or the pressure-packed, make-or-break moments in the height of competition. The Birdie Club disc celebrates the moments in which disciplined execution becomes a true art form.
  • Ace Club (Eclipse Rhythm): Every hole is a journey, from the tee to the green, that starts with envisioning the perfect shot, determining the line, the proper speed, and the angle of the disc –– all of which guide the player to the end goal: the basket. The Ace Club disc encapsulates the ultimate connection between creative vision and technical skill.

Each of the 2025 PDGA Member Discs features triple foil stamping and cutting-edge disc technology, combining MVP’s renowned over molded Neutron swirl plastic rims with both R2 (recycled) and Eclipse (glow) core plastics with weight ranges of 170-175g.

I’m in the same boat as Mary. I joined prior to the October cutoff and renewed through 2025. I remember some sort of voucher for the PDGA member disc, any info would be helpful! Pretty cool looking discs!

I joined in late November 2024. Just wondering when I’ll receive my welcome package

I paid for my renewal way before the expiration date and was wondering when I am going to receive my new card and disc that I paid for when I renewed, it is now late January and I have not heard a thing from anyone, what's going on????? You keep saying you want to promote disc golf this is not a good way to do it

Same, I got a number as a gift from my kids and it expires Dec 25. No word on disc shipment yet. But my buddy who renewed his got an email about his disc shipping. So maybe soon?

Be patient :) not only you wait, your PDGA is active, disc wont change your game, less complain about it and go play Disc Golf :)

Ignorant comment. That’s like ordering a $100 steak with a side of rice, but when they bring out your dish it is just a mound of rice. Yea I can eat it and it will fill me up, but it’s not what I paid for.
I was more frustrated with the lack of communication about well anything really. I did receive an email last week I believe saying that they were behind/delayed on sending out the member packs but will be out soon.

It’s not the fact that I haven’t received anything.it’s the lack of communication from them.I wouldn’t be on here voicing my opinion if I had any information on when we can expect anything….
