Eveliina Salonen carded nine birdies and limited the damage on a windy opening day of the 2024 Throw Pink Women's Disc Golf Championship.

With five birdies in a seven-hole stretch, Salonen opened the action at Winthrop with a 7-under, 1033-rated round and a two-stroke lead.

The reigning PDGA World Champion went 18-of-22 on fairway hits, 10-of-12 from C1X putting and limited four OB strokes to just two single bogies.

Rebecca Cox and Ohn Scoggins are tied for second two strokes back at 5-under. Cox bounced back from her three bogies immediately and Scoggins went three-down on the final four holes.

Kristin Tattar will round out the lead card at 4-under in solo fourth.
