PDGA Euro Tour #2 – Scottish Masters
Special.
That's what this event was, from start to finish.
The first ever masters-only Euro Tour event is in the books and everyone – from staff to players to spectators – had a blast. The course, the camaraderie, and the competition, along with friendship was infectious and made everyone enjoy the international event. And, at future events, there is room for more depth in the field. If you are over 40 and love disc golf, you need to play the next stop!
The competition was fierce as well.
Final Round Action
The MP40 division could have been anyone's game after Ken Nelson from Canada struggled on the dreaded, wooded, second hole where he carded double bogey and opened some doors. But, since the rest of Nelson's round was flawless, with nine pars and seven birdies, he deservingly fought his way to a victory, three strokes ahead of Sören Vetevool from Estonia. Local hero and 2019 overall Euro Tour winner, Iain McDougall settled for a T3 finish after back-to-back bogeys to finish his final round. Marko Narits was clean through the final round – his 15 pars and three birdies were good enough to catch up with Iain on the leaderboard at T3.
FP40 featured a Swiss battle between Natalie Höllokoi and Melanie Meuter, who were tied when the final round began. Experience prevailed, when our sport's legend PDGA #4455 Höllokoi shot an unofficial 954-rated round to beat her Swiss colleague. Meuter is pretty new to the sport, but gave a great fight to the sports veteran.
The MP60 group had one favorite and he left no doubts from start to finish. Derek Robins is a true legend of the sport, taking the win with comfort, and securing back to back wins on the PDGA Euro Tour this year. Charlie Mead played his heart out today, but a 927-rated round was not enough to catch Marion van Linden, who took the silver and left Mead with a hard-earned bronze finish.
