With two of the four rounds before Saturday's cut to the semifinals in the books, the battles tightened in the professional divisions and new names emerged across the top of the leaderboard in 10 of the 12 amateur divisions.
Now, redemption is up next as the 24-division field runs down the stretch in Emporia.
Here's a look around the action:
- In MP40, two-time defending champion Joe Rovere's lead shrank to one stroke at Jones East. Eric McCabe, after a 7-under day, is one stroke back in solo second place as action shifts back to Champion's Landing, which Rovere scorched during Tuesday's opening round. Finland's Mika Laikko jumped 11 spots into a tie for third with Jeff Faes after a 1055-rated, 10-under hot round.
- In FP40, Ohn Scoggins grew her lead to nine. Stephanie Vincent jumped to solo second place with the second-hottest round of the day behind Scoggin's 8-under. Scoggins is averaging 1015 play so far in Emporia.
- Brian Schweberger maintained his two-stroke lead in MP50 and Dean Tannock held on to his one-stroke lead in MP60.
- New leaders in the pro divisions include: J. Gary Dropcho and Kenny Lee in MP65; David Greenwell in MP70; and Pete May in MP80.
- Three more players have one-stroke leads: Elaine King (FP55); Amy Schiller (FP60); Janice Jones (FP65).
- In the amateur divisions, Michelle Swan kept her four-stroke lead in FA50 and Mark Hauser grew his lead to three strokes in MA70. The rest of the 10 divisions have new leaders heading into Round 3.
