806.03 Casual Area
Last updated: Tuesday, February 11, 2025 - 13:39
- A casual area is an area designated by the director which allows for optional relocation without penalty. A player may choose to take relief if their lie is in that area.
- By default, any body of water that is in-bounds and has not been explicitly declared by the Director to be in play is a casual area.
- A player may obtain relief from a casual area without penalty by marking along the line of play a new lie which is farther from the target and no farther than the nearest lie where the marker disc and lie are outside the casual area.
- Additional or alternate relief may be declared by the director for a casual area.
- A player who takes relief other than as allowed by rule has committed a misplay for playing from an Incorrect Lie under 811.F.1.
