A single stroke is important on any leader board, but especially in the do-or-die format of the Disc Golf Pro Tour Championship presented by Guaranteed Rate.

Nathan Queen knew it.

After a stellar day on the putting green already, Queen cashed in a 90-foot throw-in to turn in the hot round of the day on Thursday during Round 1 of the DGPT Championships at Hornet’s Nest Park in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Sunday’s final round of the DGPT - MVP Open at Maple Hill started off with sunny skies and gentle winds, but as the day went on, the weather started to turn, a premonition for what would go down in both divisions of the DGPT Elite Series event.

In the MPO division, Eagle McMahon saw his four-stroke lead over the rest of the field quickly evaporate, while Catrina Allen teed off with a two-stroke lead and found herself down a stroke shortly after.

Bright skies and light wind were found in Leicester, MA for the first round of the MVP Open at Maple Hill. As one of the last two stops on the Disc Golf Pro Tour before the Tour Championships, players have a lot on the line to play for if they hope to maintain their place or bump someone out of their coveted slot.

Maple Hill’s rise to one of the most anticipated stops of the year was a quick one.

The Maple Hill One was held in 2006 and two years later – and every year since – the Massachusetts stop has been a beloved mainstay on the PDGA Elite Series.

That continues Friday with the DGPT – MVP Open at Maple Hill for the 15th PDGA Elite Series tournament this season.

It’s not hard to figure out why Maple Hill is such a beloved track year-in and year-out on the tour. Just look around:

The final putts have dropped in Kentucky and two champions have been crowned at the Idlewild Open presented by Dynamic Discs and The Nati Disc Golf.

Sunday’s final round made for some exciting action with players from several cards leaving everything they had out on the course to have a chance at victory.

With only four events left before the DGPT Championship finale in Charlotte, the tour heads to Burlington, Kentucky for the Idlewild Open presented by Dynamic Discs and The Nati Disc Golf. After a shortened tournament at the Ledgestone Insurance Open last weekend due to weather, players are eager to get back on the course and battle it out at the world famous Idlewild course.
