The PDGA is looking for a Program Director to lead the Tournament Director and Events Product line. This individual will be a leader in developing the event driven products of the PDGA and implementing a system that improves both the quality of events and quantity of tournament directors. 


Position Title:  Program Director for Events and TDs

Responsible to:  Senior Director of Product

Background: The Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) is a player-run international nonprofit organization. There are 6 staff members based at the international headquarters in Appling, Georgia, USA and additional staff members who work remotely. The PDGA, with over 100,000 active members and hundreds of volunteers, is the governing body for the sport of disc golf, and sanctions competitive events for men and women of every skill level from novice to professional. Position Summary:  The PDGA is looking for a Program Director to lead the Tournament Director and Events Product line. This individual will be a leader in developing the event driven products of the PDGA and implementing a system that improves both the quality of events and quantity of tournament directors. 

Key Responsibilities:

Program Management

  • Establish, design, and manage the programs and services for the directed customer segment
  • Continuously evaluate and improve program offerings to meet evolving customer needs and market trends
  • Ensure programs align with PDGA’s strategic objectives and deliver measurable value

Success Criteria Management

  • Define, monitor, and manage success criteria for the customer segment
  • Utilize data-driven insights to set performance benchmarks and track program effectiveness
  • Report on program performance against strategic goals, identifying areas for improvement

Customer Advocacy

  • Act as the voice of the customer within the PDGA
  • Gather and incorporate customer feedback into program development and refinement
  • Advocate for customer needs and preferences in internal meetings, ensuring their perspectives are considered in decision-making processes

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Product, Technology, and Operations teams to ensure seamless value delivery
  • Foster strong communication and collaboration across departments to support program objectives
  • Align program initiatives with overall organizational goals and cross-functional strategies

Strategic Planning and Execution

  • Develop comprehensive program strategies that align with organizational goals
  • Oversee the implementation of program plans, ensuring timely and successful execution
  • Adjust strategies based on performance data and market feedback

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead and inspire a team of professionals to achieve program goals
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities for team members
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources
  • Monitor financial performance and implement cost-effective measures
  • Report on financial metrics and program ROI to senior leadership

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Communicate program progress, successes, and challenges to stakeholders
  • Engage with industry partners and community members to enhance program impact

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

  • Utilize analytical skills to assess program performance and identify improvement opportunities
  • Implement data-driven decision-making processes
  • Resolve complex issues and mitigate risks to program success

Communication Skills

  • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Present program updates and performance reports to senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Facilitate effective communication within the team and across departments

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices
  • Encourage innovation and continuous improvement within the program team
  • Implement new technologies and methodologies to enhance program effectiveness

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in program management, product  management, or a similar role
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and drive collaborative initiatives
  • Familiarity with financial management and budgeting processes
  • Passion for customer advocacy and delivering exceptional service
  • Passion for the sport of disc golf

Other Requirements:

  • Successful candidate may be required to work flexible hours and weekends
  • Minimal expenses-paid travel may be required
  • Must be eligible to work in the US and have a valid Driver License for driving within the US
  • Must sign and agree to the terms of the PDGA's employee non-disclosure agreement and conflict of interest policy
