Every detail was meticulously planned and executed, from the on-screen graphics to the way the commentary was handled. A typical 12-hour turnaround for event coverage turned into a few weeks of work to put it all together, and the stakes were significantly raised.

Today is a historic day in the sport as disc golf, for the first time in recent history and the first time on this scale, hits the airwaves on televisions and devices far and wide as coverage of the 2020 DGPT - Dynamic Discs Open debuts on CBS Sports Network.

"To know that we were going to be on TV with a broadcast that was coming on before or after another sport, we knew we had to adjust the tone and how a round was portrayed and played out for an audience that didn't know what a 'hyzer' was or who Paul McBeth or Paige Peirce were," said Jonathan Gomez, founder of Jomez Pro, who led the production of the event. "We had to educated people who may have never seen disc golf and at the same time, make it entertaining.

"It was something, for us, that was very new and the first of its kind. We were excited to work through everything and are excited to show it to the world."

Tonight's debut to new viewers kicks off four days of disc golf coverage on CBSSN — three tournament rounds of the DDO and capped with a skins match on Saturday.

For the first time, disc golf will enter the homes of people who may have never heard of the sport and, beginning tonight, they'll get the chance to watch the best of the best battle it out.

"It adds a little pressure but that's what I like," McBeth told JomezPro during a Q&A. "I like to have to perform in these situations because in order to make the broadcast, I have to play well."

A very important detail was missed. This coverage was limited to 1 country (of 195). It feels like a huge step back.
