Vote for Kristin Lätt for the 2024 IWGA Athlete of the Year »
Voting begins Thursday, 09 January 2025 at 12:00 GMT and ends on 31 January 2025 at 12:00 GMT. You can vote once every 24 hours during that time.
The International World Games Association (IWGA) holds a poll for the Athlete of the Year every January. Each member organization to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and IWGA nominates an athlete to represent their discipline. WFDF is the representative body to the IOC and IWGA for the flying disc discipline, which includes disc golf and ultimate.
WFDF currently nominates a disc golf athlete to represent flying disc sports every two to three years. Paige Pierce was the 2021 nominee and finished fourth in the voting.
The World Games Athlete of the Year Award honours exceptional athletes for their outstanding sporting achievements and their contributions to the success and recognition of their sport. Athletes who secure the top three final rankings will receive a trophy, a valuable prize, and extensive positive promotion.
The IWGA comprises 40 International Member Sports Federations. It administers and promotes The World Games (TWG), a multi-sport event held every four years that features around 35 sports on its programme. The next edition of TWG will be in Chengdu (CHN) from 7-17 August 2025. 5,000 participants from more than 100 countries are expected to take part in this 12th edition, which will include disc golf.

Absolutely brilliant PDGA -
Absolutely brilliant PDGA - to have an opportunity for all disc athletes to focus on one issue so early in the year is a boost to every player, every country and every organisation that needs Disc Golf to transcend its insular view and reach for that wider perspective.
It doesn't matter if you play DG or Ultimate of just jam a bit on the beach - If you are a PDGA member training to get that rating high enough to justify those discs in the hallway, or a family with a dog who chews your shoes and your plastic - here is a chance to all pull together to get Disc Golf to the top of the list. And it is significant - DG is a medal sport in China at The World Games (TWG) in August. If we can vote Kristin to the top we start with a huge boost to persuade the IWGA and IOC that our sport deserves a place at the top table.
So, all you top Pro's and your sponsors - a chance to make an impression in China. Chengdu alone is a city of 30 Million people - let them know who you are - get your 1000's of followers to vote for Kristin EVERY DAY - and then everyone will feel the benefit - players, organisers, manufacturers, sponsors and broadcasters.
I am the Competition Manager for DG in Chengdu in August - help me and the 16 countries and 32 players who will compete - show the rest of the world how to put on a show !!!
Thank you - your vote counts - 2 at a time - EVERY DAY.
