Sunday, June 23, 2024 - 22:56

You could've safely predicted early Friday morning that the 2024 Disc Golf Pro Tour — Preserve Championship connected by Microsoft Teams was going to come down to the wire.

It did.

Final Standings & Stats on PDGA Live

Players raced out of the gate on Friday, the leaderboard was tight and there was little room for error in Minnesota this weekend, all the way until the finish line.

Missy Gannon and Holyn Handley went step for step in the early goings of Championship Sunday before Gannon picked up her second Elite Series win of the season — and third overall with her PDGA Major win at USWDGC — down the stretch. Gannon was one of just four birdies on 14 on the day and grabbed a par on 15, the second-hardest hole of the day, while Handley slipped.

Rebecca Cox shot the hot round of 5-under to move three spots into solo third place.

The afternoon was even wilder.

While Kyle Klein and Isaac Robinson exchanged the lead several times throughout the day, Ricky Wysocki went to work as well and pounced at the end to claim his third win Preserve Championship win, first first Elite Series victory of 2024 which extends his MPO record for 14-straight seasons with an Elite Series or Major win, according to StatMando.

Wyoscki, who was lethal on the putting green throughout the day, birdied the final four holes for a one-stoke win over Klein. While the lead card was scrapping, Matt Orum was applying pressure from the chase card. Orum shot a hot-round 12-under for the second-straight day to jump to a tie for third with Robinson, two strokes back of Wysocki.

It was a sprint from the start, and the race is won in Minnesota.

Elite Series action resumes June 28-30 at the Swedish Open.
