2024 PDGA Champions Cup — Round 1 MPO Recap
Casey White has a history of shooting well at Northwood Park as well as the PDGA Champions Cup.
He had the hot round again when those two entities collided on Thursday.
White birdied nine holes at Northwood Park and limited the damage to just two bogies to take a one-stroke lead after the opening day of the 2024 PDGA Champions Cup presented by Bushnell.
His previous lead at a PDGA Major: The 2022 Champions Cup. His previous hot round: Round 3 of the 2023 Ledgestone Open at Northwood, according to StatMando.
White led in fairway hits (86%), C1 in Regulation (56%) and strokes gained tee-to-green (8.58) via PDGA Live.
His lead is slim.
Chris Dickerson, the 2022 Champions Cup winner, and Niklas Anttila, who finished second at the Champions Cup a year ago, are both one stroke behind at 6-under.
Anttila was just behind White in strokes gained tee-to-green and led in C2 in regulation to go with a 100% clip in C1X putting. His only blemish was a double bogey on the treacherous 12th at Northwood, which played an entire stroke over par as it has in the past.
Dickerson was steady in every category and carded just two bogies on the day.
Rounding out the lead card for Friday is Joel Freeman at 4-under and three off the pace
Five players are at 3-under and eight sit at 2-under heading into Round 2 on Friday.
