SANTA CRUZ, California – For every challenge, DeLaveaga presents just as many opportunities.

It’s a matter of seizing them.

On Sunday at the Santa Cruz Masters Cup presented by Innova, the third PDGA National Tour stop of 2021, there are two players – Adam Hammes and Kevin Jones – that have that opportunity to grab it.

SANTA CRUZ, California – Finding the momentum and riding it through the ups and downs is a big key at DeLaveaga Disc Golf Course.

Adam Hammes did just that.

After a blistering start, Hammes kept it rolling and turned in a bogey-free, 14-under 61 opening round to jump to a two-shot lead at the 35th Annual Santa Cruz Masters Cup presented by Innova, the third PDGA National Tour stop of the season.

History, triumph and heartbreak highlight every inch of the hill that overlooks Santa Cruz, California.

The memorable moments are there at every turn at DeLaveaga Disc Golf Course — a roller ace from Gregg Barsby, a win from Paige Pierce in 2011 that started a career year, Catrina Allen's four titles, Ken Climo's record six Masters Cup titles, Garrett Guthrie's first National Tour win, the birth of Ricky Wysocki's 'raptor legs.'

The list goes on and on.

The heartbreak, like the cliffs on the storied track, looms large as well.

Getting back to the roots and moving forward, that’s what this weekend’s win at the Disc Golf Pro Tour – OTB Open was all about for Paige Pierce in her return to the top of the leaderboard.

Pierce grabbed the lead early in the second round and, despite a rough finish on Saturday and a surging Catrina Allen on Sunday, held on for her second PDGA Elite Series win of 2021 with a one-stroke win.
