But that number has been cut and Championship Saturday has arrived with a few things locked up and quite a few things left to be settled with the semifinals and finals left to go.
McCray scorched Champion's Landing to the tune of a 7-under, 1037-rated round on Friday to build a 5-stroke lead heading into Saturday. MP50 was one of 10 divisions where a new leader emerged after four rounds of regulation.
Joe Rovere's lead dropped one stroke — to eight — in MP40 and Ohn Scoggins enters Saturday with a commanding 17-strokes lead in FP40. Rovere is eyeing a three-peat and Scoggins a four-peat at Masters Worlds.
Friday started with the first crowing of a 2024 PDGA World Champion — Pete May in MP80, who collected his 15th overall PDGA Major title.
Here's a look around Masters Worlds entering the semifinals:
- MP60 continues to be a battle with Dean Tannock reclaiming the top spot and a one-stroke lead over Tim Keith, who is also chasing his fourth-straight World title.
- Defending MP70 champion Randy Beers took a one-stroke lead.
- FA40 has its third leader of the week in Alicia Carr.
- Janice Jones reclaimed the FP65 lead by one stroke over Laura Cloyes-Chupa. The top four are separated by two strokes.
